QUOTE(tokyotenshi @ Oct 13 2009, 02:14 AM) Have you finished watching Suspiria don't forget to watch 1980's Inferno and the 2007 The Mother of Tears. As Suspiria (1977) is the first of the trilogy of The Three Mothers films by Italian horror master Dario Argento. |

QUOTE(SpaceBeast @ Oct 13 2009, 06:33 PM) A few scenes in IT is effectively scary, but overall it is alright.Still no horror fan should miss it. But the underwater scene is beautifully shot. Have not yet watch Mother of Tears though. |

*Ahem*
An American Werewolf in London (1981) Just to prove how "OLD" I'm, going to review another oldie but golden. Got this on BD recently, and I have to say, it is an improvement over the Region 1 DVD I have. Picture quality MAJOR improvement, will leave that for later. For the uninitiated, this is THE werewolf movie. Rick Baker (makeup artist) wowed the movie industry with this one. For people who loves Dragged Me To Hell (old skool) please take note. This is THE horror/comedy movie for me (IMO, please, no machine guns, they are so violent and messy!! Those who love more adult theme, there are somethings for you as well (not much, a little bit) This movie is about 2 young American kids (guys) who are backpacking in the English country side, and had a chance encounter with a vicious furry creature. One was killed and the other was rescued (the Americans). The one who is rescued was sent to a London hospital, where he meets up with a "overly friendly" English nurse. As time progresses, full moon is around the corner... Going back to the picture quality, having got the dvd version, the smudge on David's face (on the DVD) were CLEARLY claw marks on the BD (kudos, Mr Rick Baker). Grain haters take note, THERE is grain, but I think it adds to the feel of the movie DTS Master Lossless 5.1 has good directional sounds (when the two American kids were in the English country side, at night, with the full moon), it was clear a "thing" was circling around them, hurdling them to where it wants them to be. I remember it being a little controversial when it first came out (e.g. too adult, too funny, too horrifying??) and it along with Evil Dead 3 coin the phrase Horror comedy! My two sens worth! QUOTE(ray148 @ Oct 21 2009, 11:23 PM) Can't agree more! The heroine is so HAWT! btw, just grabbed this from a friend last night. Looks good.. ![]() QUOTE Meat Grinder takes you on a terrifying journey to taste the bizarre horror of traditional noodle recipes cooked by Bus, a woman who owns a noodle stall; a unique noodle stall. This post has been edited by de4thscythell: Oct 22 2009, 11:43 AMBus has been living with tension and stress for all of her life, and she works hard for her family as a noodle cook. Sometimes, she is controlled by a mysterious voice that suggests to her to do or not to do things. One day, she encounters a chaos in town and is rescued by a guy named Uttapol who later becomes her companion. That evening after the chaos, Bus surprisingly discovers a guy lying dead under her stall. She discreetly looks at him and comes up with her new recipe. Bus begins to slice his flesh, mix it with spices, and throw it into her noodle pot. After her secret recipe is introduced, Bus gains so many customers and a reputation for her delicious noodle. Meanwhile, the haunting voice still keeps talking to her, and tells her what to do. Bus tactfully starts to lure and murder people. The more she kills the more of her dark side is revealed. And when Uttapol begins to suspect Bus' behavior, he stumbles on the evil of her and is now the hunted. |
