Creepshow (1982) Part Deux
Okay kiddies, finished Creepshow yesterday night (or was that early this morning). It's great! To reiterate, all in all there are 5 short stories namely, 1) Father's Days (Where is my cake. WHERE IS MY CAKE) 2) The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill (Stephen King an ACTOR????! 3) Something to Tide you Over (Leslie Nielsen! In a serious role!!? Hard to imagine AFTER all the Naked gun movies!! 4) Crate (Who is the monster??) 5) They Creep Up on You (Cockroaches anyone, ANYONE?????!) A Stephen King and George A Romero collaboration Lovers of Evil Dead, you find this amusing. Strongly recommended. Enjoy This post has been edited by Mov_freak: Oct 10 2009, 10:20 AM |

QUOTE(QuickFire @ Oct 9 2009, 09:53 PM) I just saw Trick 'r Treat. Fantastic! While not really scary, it is consistently funny and fun, and when it is not those, it is suspenseful. Easily puts Drag Me to Hell to shame. If anything, this goes to show how tame DMTH was. I heard this is a bit like Creepshow, which I've never seen. Highly recommended. Thank you xy2610 and Quickfire for the heads'up.Will look for this movie. I highly recommend Creepshow Quickfire, if you claim you are a fan of Evil Dead 1 and 2. |

QUOTE(de4thscythell @ Oct 10 2009, 07:58 AM) Oh?! Why not??Added on October 10, 2009, 10:42 am QUOTE(tokyotenshi @ Oct 10 2009, 02:31 AM) Creepshow is one of the rare gems that didn't really get much attention.. Creepshow 1 is awesome, 5 different stories... Creepshow 2 is still good, but only 3 stories instead of 5.. but please, at any cost, AVOID CREEPSHOW 3! It's such an epic fail.. not by original writers, and didn't make sense, it's way too retarded..! Trust me, you will regret watching the 3rd.. I did. Hello and welcome to the threadI disagree.. Blair Witch is nowhere near Evil Dead 1 & 2.. I found Blair Witch to be extremely dull, boring and a waste of time. If you want a better 'documentary', watch Cannibal Holocaust.. it came out in the 70s, and I think Blair Witch was based on it, and it's way better. It's just that I was deeply, EXTREMELY disturbed after watching Cannibal Holocaust when I was 11, that I lost my appetite for a week and vowed never to watch it again but it might be your cup of tea. lol In my opinion, if you want something similar to Evil Dead 1 & 2, you'd have to refer to the classics.. NONE of the recent movies, that's after the 90s can be considered close to what the classics used to be.. exception to maybe a few... hmm maybe you can try looking at classics like Brain Dead/Dead Alive (by Peter Jackson), Zombi (Lucio Fulci)... or even The Dead Trilogies by George A. Romero... City of the Living Dead...or Demons 1 & 2 (Lamberto Bava).. these are some of my faves that I consider in par or better than Evil Dead. Thank you for your recommendation This post has been edited by Mov_freak: Oct 10 2009, 10:42 AM |

QUOTE(Mov_freak @ Oct 10 2009, 10:20 AM) Thank you xy2610 and Quickfire for the heads'up. I'm a fan of Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness, not so much the first Evil Dead. Evil Dead II strikes the perfect balance between macabre and comedy. Will look for this movie. I highly recommend Creepshow Quickfire, if you claim you are a fan of Evil Dead 1 and 2. re: Blair Witch. I would never dare watch this when I'm on a camping trip with foliage nearby. I've never seen Cannibal Holocaust, it sounds vile, and in general I tend to prefer movies which pass off gore in an entertaining and fun manner instead of truly wanting to scar you for life. |

Poltergeist. The first one is really good. One of the best Spielberg movies.
I remember watching this when I was a kid. Had many sleepless nights after that. Makes TV creepy before Ringu. Unfortunately the sequels are terrible. |

Hello nazmanson, cathy82, oucheev
Welcome to the thread! Great list nazmanson. May I inquire as to why there are three Dawn of the Dead (Number 2, 4, 8?) cathy82... you're a gal?????! Kidding oucheev, yes, the First Poltergeist (German word, means mischievous spirit) is the best, and do you know that new research is actually indicates that Poltergeist may be more telekinetic [living child not sure of his/her powers] rather then spiritual. Welcome again, enjoy and keep the thread coming!! |

Resident Evil (2002) BD
PQ and AQ 5.1 Dolby TrueHD is Great! I think I watched this after playing residetn Evil 0. This is my favorite Resident Evil movie. I love the way they introduce the walking dead (spooky), bloody Dobermans, the Red Queen (wasn't a character in the game) and also the laser cutter (it slices, it dices). The Bangalow, the underground labs and also the tactical team were well done. Also love Milla Jovovich clothing (thank you costume designer Richard Bridgland for that). It is now difficult to watch Eric Mabius as Matt after his Ugly Betty's role... Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004) BD I think the PQ of the first one is a hairline better then this. Also interesting that they put PCM surround instead of Dolby TrueHD or DTS Master Audio???? Originally, I like the third on better then this one. Milla Jovovich really kicked ass in this one. Also like the walking dead better here (more of them). Broader landscape then the first movie and has spectacular stunts. I know I'm going to be criticize for this but cannot say I crazy about Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine (a little plasticy....). The Lickers are better managed in this movie as well. Resident Evil: Extinction (2007) BD After rewatching all the Resident Evil together, I was surprise to discover that I like this the least now, although it is the most cinematographic one. Some shots of Milla Jovovich was a little "unreal" (I don't think it issue to DNR, because my DVD copy show the same issue). They must have "photoshop" her to make her face a tad too smooth (younger??). Other shot she looked natural..... Also interesting that this is the only Resident Evil that is shot in bright daylight. The crows from hell was a nice touch and would have like to know what happened to the Angie Ashford character. Not sure why Ali Larter is in this one (not a very big role) and Oded Fehr makes a poor love interest for all the gals (except for Ashanti character). The idea of a domesticated zombie was interesting (Fido anyone?) For the Zombie lovers out there Eeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuughh (slowly turning into a zombie) |
