Just watched Trick r Treat.
Not bad for a straight to dvd even though it is not scary or gory. It is interesting for several stories being interwoven together. Each one has its own twist in the end, some are predictable while others not. 7/10. Trailer This post has been edited by xy2610: Oct 9 2009, 12:00 AM |

Hey Trick r Treat looks interesting enough even though it's not scary from the trailer... and it's Halloween related so it'll be good for my own Halloween movie marathon .. wonder if I could find the movie.

Monsh, sounds like you have a serious case of fatigue-us overindulgenceness!!i find myself hard to be frighten by horror movies nowadays . they're more towards shocking parts an unexpected parts instead of really scary stuff . Symptoms include feeling of being worn out, bored, dulled and wearied. If left untreated..... Treatment Take copies of Sound of Music, Pollyanne, ... oh just get all animation works of Disney, lock yourself in a room with a VCD(it STILL exist)/DVD/BD player, and watch the said works over and over again. You know you are cured when you cannot help but sing My Favorite things, or theme song from any of the Disney Animations Doctor Mov-Freak *Quack! Creepshow (1982)
I have to tell you that I'm getting a kick out of the new BD format, because a lot of hard to find movies are being reissued on the said format and is readily available again (some are gems, others...) Case in point, Creepshow! I never saw it in the cinema when it first came out, not on VHS, not on LD not on DVD until now! 5 creepy stories all round up into one movie. The movie started with a father "telling off" his son for getting a copy The Creepshow comic. He went as far as to slap his son in the face (Shock, Shock, an "Ang Moh" hitting a kid, how can this be?!! The father then proceeded to throw the offending material into the thrash can (physical one kiddies! Not the one found on your computer desktop!! A strong wind blew over the said thrash can and we see the cover of the comic! Then we see the kid sitting on his bed (we can still see his father's red hand print on his face) and the creep keeper floating out side the kid's bedroom window, laughing, the kid smiles (this is THE CREEPIEST kid smile, I SWEAR!!) Let the spook (relatively speaking, I know how JADED some of you are) begin I've only watch 3 out of the 5 short stories, they are okay. Surprise to see people like Ed Harris (He NEVER had much hair did he), Stephen King (I never knew he acted) and Leslie Nielsen (I keep expecting him to do something funny!!) Will keep you guys posted after I had finish watching this tonight! |

I just saw Trick 'r Treat. Fantastic! While not really scary, it is consistently funny and fun, and when it is not those, it is suspenseful. Easily puts Drag Me to Hell to shame. If anything, this goes to show how tame DMTH was. I heard this is a bit like Creepshow, which I've never seen. Highly recommended.

QUOTE(Angel of Deth @ Oct 9 2009, 10:40 PM) Nice to have you back!Thought we were suppose to be partners in crime on this thread!! If you ask 10 person, 5 might like it, 5 might not. Is it a remake (1959) same title. It is worth one viewing. After you have watched it once it does not survive the second viewing. Enjoy! |

QUOTE(Mov_freak @ Oct 9 2009, 11:03 PM) Nice to have you back! The 1959 version is good but for me it's not horror enough. Maybe because House on the Haunted Hill is more toward inner-demon type of enemy, so it kinda bored me. Any suggest for movie that is on same level with Evil Dead 1 & 2?Thought we were suppose to be partners in crime on this thread!! If you ask 10 person, 5 might like it, 5 might not. Truthfully, the closes movie to Evil Dead 1 & 2 I can think of would be The Blair Witch Project. Bare in mind that when Evil Dead first come out, it was considered very progressive! QUOTE(Mov_freak @ Oct 9 2009, 11:49 AM) Creepshow (1982) Creepshow is one of the rare gems that didn't really get much attention.. Creepshow 1 is awesome, 5 different stories... Creepshow 2 is still good, but only 3 stories instead of 5.. but please, at any cost, AVOID CREEPSHOW 3! It's such an epic fail.. not by original writers, and didn't make sense, it's way too retarded..! Trust me, you will regret watching the 3rd.. I did.I have to tell you that I'm getting a kick out of the new BD format, because a lot of hard to find movies are being reissued on the said format and is readily available again (some are gems, others...) Bare in mind that when Evil Dead first come out, it was considered very progressive! (I'm getting crucified for this) I disagree.. Blair Witch is nowhere near Evil Dead 1 & 2.. I found Blair Witch to be extremely dull, boring and a waste of time. If you want a better 'documentary', watch Cannibal Holocaust.. it came out in the 70s, and I think Blair Witch was based on it, and it's way better. It's just that I was deeply, EXTREMELY disturbed after watching Cannibal Holocaust when I was 11, that I lost my appetite for a week and vowed never to watch it again but it might be your cup of tea. lol Hope this helps! In my opinion, if you want something similar to Evil Dead 1 & 2, you'd have to refer to the classics.. NONE of the recent movies, that's after the 90s can be considered close to what the classics used to be.. exception to maybe a few... hmm maybe you can try looking at classics like Brain Dead/Dead Alive (by Peter Jackson), Zombi (Lucio Fulci)... or even The Dead Trilogies by George A. Romero... City of the Living Dead...or Demons 1 & 2 (Lamberto Bava).. these are some of my faves that I consider in par or better than Evil Dead. ![]() ![]() Ohhh! I just remembered.. anyone watched THE SUBSPECIES SERIES?... It's another rare gems that should be appreciated.. those who loves vampire will definitely enjoy this.. Subspecies on Wikipedia Subspecies Bloodstone: Subspecies II Bloodlust: Subspecies III Vampire Journals Subspecies 4: Bloodstorm Subspecies series has been one of my vampire faves since I was 9 This post has been edited by tokyotenshi: Oct 10 2009, 03:00 AM |
