Those 4x4 with A/T box can do simple wheel burnout...

1. Left foot on brake pedal.
2. Shift gear to L or 1.
3. Right foot on accelerator, depending truck, most will reach to full boost at 2000 RPMs.
4. Gently let the RPM climb to 2200 RPM and release the left foot as quick as possible and watch...

Scary... smile.gif

Of course, it will make all wiralution and wajadilotion run for their lives but practically, it's very dangerous. However for the rest, don't try this on public roads. Try finding somewhere isolated.
*
Yup. Very true... I will try this on quite empty roads and of course very dry weather. If wet, forget it as the truck will fish tail to other side of the roads.

Sometimes, it helps the heavy truck to accelerate faster because some such as Triton 2.5 A/T have poor acceleration unless you rev engine up to 2200 RPMs.

My company recently bought a used 2007 Triton (A) for RM 74k and condition is marvelous except for minor exterior scratches.

My own Triton is also a 2007 bought a year earlier. No prob with both trucks except for minor mods here n there.

Next on the list is the 2010 Navara (M) for the other director. So, whenever there a company trip, we let the Navara go first since Tritons can't catch up anyway.

as navara got wierd PCD 114.3 with 6 holes.
*
Yeah. Navara have odd PCD. Rims plenty in Thailand but ain't worth it unless the trip is paid for.

Next option is a 25mm spacer / PCD adaptor. No ready made available. Have to custom made. Thickness is 1" and cost over 1.2k easily.

Hi, Between Navara, Triton, & Isuzu, which is the best 2.5l double cab pickup? Can the triton 2.5 be fitted with VGT? saw some foreign models does have this to boost up 400nm. Also I would like to know which offers the best sitting position and width & confirm for the rear passenger. Hope fellow 4x4 owners can enlighten me on this. the 3.0 suggestion is off as the roadtax is high.
*
VGT only complicates the truck.

Unlike Toyota or Nissan, Mitsubishi have the most outdated engine designs ever (can't blame them because the company is doing badly financially over the past 10 years). Because of this, it is very simple to maintain. I rather have less electronics on a truck since I abused mine a lot - climbing on curbs, jumping off speed bumps and going off road to avoid traffic jams.

the new mitsubishi triton 2.5 will come with more power, u should look at it
*
Power is limited by outdated engine design. Unless of course they put newer engine inside. The current 4D56 and family has been around for 30 years - commonly found on some Mitsubishi FUSO trucks. Newer 4M41 is what most people want - currently available in 3.2L only - expensive road tax for little gain in power.

For those using Vector on Triton, have u tried Setting 3? I was on Setting 4 for 3 months before going for Setting 5 for nearly a year but since decat, truck has lots of grunt even on Setting 3. Might save even more fuel.

Yeah man... install Vector on Fortuner 2.5 and see the difference. A Fortuner is basically a Hilux with SUV body same as Pajero Sport.

Hi, my dad is interested in buying a Navara Manual 4x4, any good/negative feedback on this vehicle ?
*
My bro is using it as daily ride. No problems so far. FC better than Triton MT or Hilux MT any time. Still lose to DMAX MT. However, power is highest among all 2.5L trucks.

due to expanding business, just got myself a used nov 2008 d-max 3.0 manual. quite satisfy with the outcome but still need further understanding of the engine / car behaviour.
hauling, overtaking and towing capability is just fine. but growing up with another ride of more than 500nm makes me just wonder if this bigger engine of d-max could reach the same amount of torque...
loves the twinpot front brake but just wonder if there are workshops that offer a rear disc conversion.
not sure if this d-max comes with lsp thou.

U made the right choice here.

Take the Nissan Frontier. Better engine and performance than Storm or Hilux. Engine very robust.

4x2 is for light usage... and affordable for many people. Look at TH... there are many 4x2 than 4x4 due to price.

As for muddy roads, they can drive like a 4x4 but need skill to avoid getting stuck.

When I was in Ulu Tungud, Sabah for business... the hired driver basically drifted on the muddy roads to avoid getting stuck. And boy... it was fun!

honestly, i'm in the middle of pening, Hilux 2.5G 4x4 MT or Triton 2.5 4x4 MT, both almost the same in terms of pricing.

Forget the Hilux. Underpowered, high target for thieves and overpriced.

2007 Triton 2.5A here. For FC in 100% city, expect between 550 to 600 for full tank which is RM 115 at RM 1.80/L.

Navara 2.5A should give u better FC due to extra gear ratio (5-speed vs 4-speed in Triton).

Get hilux 3.0 Bigger capacity, nothings beats it. Higher ground clearance, simple offroad will prove navara a lousy pick up (it's just too low).

Sabah, land of toyota, must get toyota.
*
And pay double for road tax (Peninsular only)? High capacity good for East Malaysia because road tax DAMN CHEAP!

Ok. since you don't do offroad, no daily drive.

Navara has biggest rear leg room, but also have very straight rear seat. but can modify the seat bracket lah.

Less bumpy? Triton....

Fuel saving? Dmax

Resale value? Hilux

Power? Navara.

But then when it comes to reliability................... you know lah.
*
Easy target for thieves... Hilux.

Bought an used 2005 Kia Sorento from Kedah (Sg Petani of all places)... damn cheap, RM 45k. Road tax is RM 840 per year. And comes with 5-speed Triptronic auto gearbox. Pumped RM 120 of diesel and so far covered 500km and still have half tank left... wah, not bad for an old SUV.

Power also not bad... comparable to Triton but better FC. And can keep up with Toyota Camry 2.4 at 160kph on the NKVE. Pickup a bit slow but once the turbo kicks in... it is Ecstasy!
