It means if your TV can't accept 1080p, the movie will show nothing.
Same as the Japanese version.

For optical, you can set DTS 5.1, DD 5.1 and PCM 2ch.

HDMI input does not mean Blu-Ray only, it could be DVD player, Media Player, Game consoles etc.
Most manufacturer uses DVD as default since it is the most common player.
