I have a question regarding Casablanca BD....I have noticed that Amazon US doesnt have just the movie ..it comes with a collector's edition but I have seen just the movie in Speedy....(Amazon UK havent released this film yet as well)

I assumed it's HK edition but I cannot find any details about it...(I am sure its not Japanese version as it doesnt have Japanese subtitles/audio)...

Is it possible this BD is manufactured elsewhere other than US/HK/JPN?
*
It's probably the local edition released by HVN which is pressed in HK. I'm seeing more and more of this local editions in stores now.

Deltamac release in HK, they compress the movie into a 25GB disc, one example I've seen with my own eyes was I, Robot. So they're just like the cetak rompak ones, the difference is that they're legal. My worry is that these lcoal editions are the same.

HK release from Mei Ah, for their local movies are top-notch BD50 though, like Red Cliff, Ip Man, etc.

Just put order for Pirates Carribean 1, 2 & 3 from Amazon UK. It's 11.97 per piece but they are having promotion 3 for 2 so I only pay for the price of 2. Total plus shipping is GBP30.50 about RM180. Good price I think. The box set is more expensive coz no offer.
*
Whoa, in full gear for BDs now? rclxms.gif

ic ic....but i'd always assumed HVN prints their logo at the back of the sleevecase just like Speedy did with their Red Cliff I & II BD hmm.gif
*
Yes, I also thought like that. I asked the manager at Ezy Video, he told me about this local editions. Very hard to tell actually, they look exactly like the US editions. The best way to know is the price, they're usually under RM100.

haha watch casino royale, damn good,
i find the colour on the yellowish side think same with transformers

At the back is imprinted subtitles in chinese, but actual movie Disk 1 no chinese sub's (  tongue.gif ) the chinese sub's only appear in disk 2, where you have deleted scenes and other bonds extra stuff

anyone tested on UK disc, how was the colour....
also is UK disc pal or NTSC
*
No such thing as PAL or NTSC for BDs. All 1080p (or some docs/concerts 1080i).

But some titles like the Manchester United - Champions League Final has a refresh rate of 50Hz (which originated from PAL system), not 24Hz or 60Hz. BD players from US doesn't support 50Hz.

I don't know why I'm reminded so much of the Penguins in Madagascar 2. laugh.gif

Anyway, I wonder if the local BD60 can support 50Hz, I have a feeling it does. Malaysia uses multi-system, it must support 50Hz to play the PAL DVDs. Anyone can confirm this? If it can, I might consider getting the BD60.

Is it written somewhere on the package the disc is 50hz? If u have one I can try out for you smile.gif
*
Nope, not on package I think. I usually finds out about it:

http://bluray.liesinc.net/index.php?region=b

Try to search Manchester there, it will mention about it being 50Hz. It's not region-locked, but the refresh rate will not be playable on my US player. sweat.gif

For the player, the manual should mention the supported refresh rate. Thanks a lot bro. notworthy.gif

WTH?  hmm.gif  laugh.gif  longer than the shipping transit time..

Was about to post that. laugh.gif

Maybe because it's so cheap too many people buying it, causing it to be backordered.

Some of them thought that since the mkv is directly ripped from the BD source
the PQ shd be the same
but they might not know about detail loss, different settings on encoder will produce different results, etc
*
Agreed. Look what happened when they finally seen a real BD:

QUOTE(aiman04 @ Jul 27 2009, 08:24 AM)
Went to a friend's house yesterday, watched 2 Fast 2 Furious from his WDTV. Then we moved to my house, watched the same movie but on BD. He was speechless. He never thought the difference could be so obvious, he realized what he's been missing on both PQ & AQ all this while. Now he's considering a BD player already. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(robinlim @ Jul 30 2009, 11:05 AM)
there's different in weight lar
1 kilo of gold is around 8.4X heavier than 1 kilo of brick

Density of gold = 19300kg/m3
Density of brick = 1920kg/m3
*
Bro, the question already says both are 1 kilo, it's a trick question. Nothing to do with density anymore, in this case the gold bar is simply smaller in size than the brick but the weight is the same.

But seriously guys, you remember what happened last time? Not trying to be a mod, but don't let Scotty see this kind of discussion, or this thread will be gone in a blink. Back to BD topic please. icon_rolleyes.gif

Looks like the was a big rush of orders for US and I think Malaysia. They will only confirm on the 9th August onwards after they restock.
*
Not only from Malaysia I guess, many from US are out to get this UK release, especially after it's confirmed region free. They've been waiting for this (including me) since it was originally announced last year. And with the current price, it's just irresistible.

I also can't wait for MY favorite (not just Aiman) PIXAR movie, Finding Nemo.

FWIW,

It normally takes 10wks for canadian post to reach Mal..

Erh.. u can return de items in question but u ll lose out on de waitin period tat u hv uh waited for de items to arrive n also amz will only credit your refund only after rec't of your items (prbbly another long wait..).. u cannot ask for a refund if item has shipped..

I agree on amz.ca lousy postal shippers .. try n buy those ttls tat are dirt cheap which  incidentally means  old ttls, so u wont be so kancheon to watch wan..

Cheers

Not sure about Amazon CA, but despite the T&C, Amazon US will refund you if you never receive the package within the estimated delivery dates and considered lost. I've received refunds many times before, but now I only use DHL so my package never lost. Their CS is the best I've ever experienced.

But, please guys, don't take advantage of this by falsely reporting your package as missing even though you already received it. If they see a pattern they could ban you, or worse omitting Malaysia from their shipping list. sweat.gif

Hi,

It shld be de same as they are of  de same parent co.. normally amz will reship a lost package and not always give you an option to choose on whether you want a refund or otherwise.. at least tat has happened to me.. but its still at no cost to us, so its still gud..

U r statin DHL has great customer svc or Amazon.com.. if amz then I agree 110% but DHL .. uhm tat co , I hv bad experiences la - total opposite is wat it is to me..
