Hi all,

I need a help to choose a casing for my new pc.

I want to bought complete pc of i-core7, 6gb ram, 500gb hd & gtx260 gc.

But for the casing, can I just use the normal powerlogic casing with 500W psu which only cost around RM120??? OR I need to buy more expensive casing like Cooler Master with no psu which cost me around RM250 + 400W PSU - RM 300???

I really need help here.

Can anyone please help me sad.gif

are you going to be using the computer 24/7?

if you're using the computer for 1-2 hours a day or just for gaming (4-5 hours) then chap ayam casing is ok...

just make sure there's a proper air flow, and use good fans.

you may want to consider those casings like CM scout Rm320... if you're gonna do OC and really overtime on gaming.

my humble opinions:

just buy the more expensive casing... much more worth for the money...

expensive casing doesn't affect any performance, just it makes your rig much more eye catching.

maybe if you buy a cheap casing, if its small, it will not fit BIG graphic cards like the Radeon 4890.. and sometimes the psu may not have enough capacity to power up your rig

so, just buy the more $$$ casing... its worth it rclxm9.gif

actually....any casing will do.

its the power supply u need to get the good ones...the power supply u mentioned are those chapalang RM50 PSU which will probably blow up in ur face when trying to power up something like ur rig.

spend RM350 on a good PSU like the Silverstone ST56F 560w. 400w not enough for ur rig.

casing, anything oso can. but with cheap casings u dont really get good airflow and ur parts will tend to heat up. so a good casing would be recommended too...though not necessary.

PSU is necessary

ya rite .
it does affect performance .
juz think of something please .
do some review b4 saying something .
small casing like powerlogic wont fill 10" graphic card for sure.
and d ventilation sucks hell .
i'd say for budget , CM690 shud be good .
if ur looking for cheap but full tower , HAF932 shud be ok .

PSU and casing is d most crucial investment for me .
cause these 2 items will be used for long time .
so it's not a problem to actually get a very big and very good PSU .
they tend to give good result at d end .

Good ventilation will give u good airflow .
this will make ur system less heat and it leads to good result .
i tried my rig in middle tower last time .
and guess wat , my system keeps hanging and my Northbridge temperature very high cause d ventilation not good .
so i end up getting TJ07 which has very good ventilation .
nowadays my PC no more temperature problem .

so yeah , invest more on casing and PSU .
for PSU , get those single rail PSU like silverstone decathlon , corsair , PC Power & Cooling

very good stability .

already mentioned in my previous post. and thats the minimum.

wattage isnt the only concern...make sure wat u get is true power.

PSU is practically the most important part of a PC. if ur PSU not enough power how to power up ur rig. if u have the money to buy such power rig then u should also have the money to buy a good PSU.

get a BRANDED 600w - 800w better o and a better casing cause if u going to buy such an expansive computer why not? also better casing = better airflow + cooler

for me my psu just enough to power up i think but its heating up real hot ...

Short answer no it dont effect really much

What you buy is basically a big junk of metal

good airflow in casing does effect your system temperature

Hey noob, don't buy mid to high end pc with casing like that, really bad idea sweat.gif
And PSU is the most important, for something like your rig,go with ST50 EVO(Cheap and modular)
Casing wise the main difference is the airflow, styling, better and pleasant build experience(Sharp edges round off, better cable management etc) and also not to mention greater airflow which help in control the heat omitted by your pc,at least the component(PWM,CPU,GC etc) will run cooler and more or less translate into better oc room smile.gif
For me,casing the styling is most important whistling.gif
If i am in the position to build a rig of that range, the casing i will consider is V1200 plus II(sadly EOL) or CM ATCS840,this is very personal choices as each individual have their own taste and need in a casing

we are beginners somewhere in our life rite?
for that big sum of money... and also that hardware... it is recommended for the staff at the shop to build it for us...

if u really dun mind about the looks of ur computer ( i do so i willing to spend more on casing )... u can always choose thos cheap casing... just mind the space to fit the hardware in...
and PLEASE I MEAN PLEASE just throw away the cheapo psu come with the casing... seriously... u will have to fork out RM300 to 500 just to buy a decent PSU just to power up ur rig or risk lose out the whole rig sweat.gif

and... please refer to the staff at the shop as they will help to choose/recommend the right casing and also psu for u.

You don't seem to have clear idea on how you're going to use your i7. Having an i7 doesn't require you to purchase an expensive large casing, but you would be dumb to use a small concealed casing for extensive processing.

Using cheap PSU that comes free with a casing for an i7+GTX260 is again a silly thing to do. It's a bad idea. I assume i7 users are power users, not just people who chat in MSN and surf yahoo.com. Using an underpowered PSU will risk stability and possibly shorten the lifespan of the PSU itself and the entire computer.

p.s. Core i7 NOT i-core7

A lot of people like to save money on the PSU and casing, but please don't. They are just as important as any other computer parts, so it's worth to pay good money for good casing and PSU. Some people here already point out why.
