If anyone is interested i made the following BeyBlade "discoveries" while shopping for my lil boy;

1) Toys R Us in Great Eastern Mall has a whole selection of the Takara Tomy Hybrid Wheel System BeyBlades on sale (the ones with the prefix BB)

They are 20% off if you are a TRU Star Card Member.

FYI the prices before discount are as follows:

BB30 Booster Rock Leone 145WB - $29.90 each
BB32 Hybrid Wheel Set - comprises Storm Pegasis BB + D Wolf BB + Basic Stadium set - $139.90 each
BB34 Light Launcher (orange) - $14.90 each
BB36 Metal Face (green) - $14.90 each
BB44 Random Booster Vol. 3 Stardust Pegasis - $29.90 each
BB45 Random Booster Vol. 3 Clay Aries ED145B - $19.90 each
BB53 Digital Power Launcher Pegasis Version - $109.90 each

IMHO the BB32 is a good buy to start with becasue if you buy them individually - each BB is $49.90 and a stadium would be $69.90 that woulod coem up to about $170!

Still getting to grips with the Digital Launcher as i don't quite understand the japanese instructions :-(

2) Parkson KLCC also has a good range of HWS BeyBlade stuff but their range is much wider than what i found in GEM's TRU.

I will have to reconfirm whether the current Parkson Sale also covers the Takara Tomy stuff as well - so stay tuned to this space :-)

Added on September 1, 2010, 5:29 pmJust a follow up from my last post - i had a chance to check out KLCC and went to TRU, Parkson & Isetan this morning. It looks like all the retailers for the Takara Tomy BeyBlades have some sort of promotion ongoing.

The bottom line is that they is a blanket 20% discount on all items - boosters, accessories, sets and blades. So now would be a good time to get all those bits you may have wanted to get.

TRU had a flyer which said that if you spend more than $150 you get a special BB Exclusive Accessory Top - but the TRU staff had no idea about it

Parkson were giving out free BB posters if you purchase $80 and above. There are also nifty little booklets which double up as a catalog as well as a WBBA membership application card. Attach two BB item barcodes from the boxes and mail in your application to join the WBBA and get an exclusive accessory.

Isetan has the same offers as Parkson but also gives you the chance to enter their BB Open Tournament this Sunday 2:30 pm. Entry is by purchase of any BB product and pre-registration is required. Judging by the stack of forms i saw there is quite a good response. Was told also that the competition is only open to the Hybrid Wheel System BeyBlades (ie: those with the BB pre-fix stuff only i guess)

Does anyone have the BB51 Extreme BeyStadium set? Or any reccomendations as to which is the best Stadium? From the WBA forum i read that their recommendation was for BB10 BeyStadium Attack or BB33 BeyStadium Wide Square. Any comments on these two?

Thanks Doc W for the heads-up on Jusco's extra 10% on first Saturdays. That kind of info is always good to know.

As for the Stadiums you are right in that we are paying $70-90 for flimsy pieces of plastic and cardboard. Never thought of DIY-ing one but i have seen a few cool ones on the internet - there is one that looks like a WWE / UFC cage that really stands out. Where did you find the pirated stadiums? Must check those out

for the competition i guess its for kids :-( as there is a column for name of participant followed by name of paremt :-o

sounds like you have a decent collection there - how do you rate the Storm Pegasus? Its the strongest beyblade i have, it was no match for my left handed L Drago even

took my 7 yr old to the Isetan BeyBlade Competition and was surprised by the turnout - at least 32 entrants more or less - and it was pretty chaotic.

based on that turnout alone and seeing the various different type of Blades and Launchers that were on display i would venture to think that there is a big demand for BeyBlades.

unfortunately - as Doc W noted - it seems to cater for the under 12s. Which is a shame as there is a lot of strategy and tactic as well as technic involved which is lost on the kids. I Was too busy consoling my little boy who got knocked out in the qualifying round to go and approach the organisers to see if they could possibly have different categories ie: under 12, under 18 and "open". Of course this would then depend on whether there is a demand for it? From this topic in LYF there is hardly a huge response which would mean that for the moment the target audience would be the Cartoon Network crowd

did a recce at KLCC this evening and just wanna share with you all on whats in the stores at the moment

all the stores in KLCC - ie: TRU, Parkson & Isetan all seem to have the newer BB stuff - ie:from BB63 onwards.

i picked up the following from Parkson although i did see them at TRU and Isetan but i had a $100 Parkson voucher to use before the end of the month - but you're probably better off buying your stuff from Isetan as they have a sale on - 20% off on all BB stuff!

my haul for today:--
BB63 Grip Rubber $16.90 (wanted to see if this works fine with the next item as an alternate launcher set-up)
BB64 Launcher Grip $26.90
BB65 R Escolpio T125JB (someone had recommended this blade earlier so i wanted to check it out)
BB66 Metal Face (red) $16.90 (just to add colour to my BB heads - of course black is cooler)
BB67 Metal Face (black) $16.90

Also - looks like Litt Tak are gearing up for more roadshows as they are organising 2 BB competitions in Isetan - 24 & 30 October whilst Parkson is organising one on 23 October. As usual the target market are kids - so if you have a younger sibling, or in my case a lil boy why not let him take yr blades out for a spin.

i know Doc Watson was grumbling abt how there doesn't seem to be a competition for "grown-ups" like they do in the US & Oz - but maybe if one or two of you come along and whisper into the LT reps ears that there is a demand - and ask them to check out this thread for proof and maybe - who knows - we might get what we wish for. after all don't we all want to know how our blades perform under "competiton"?

BB Competition updates:

took my lil boy for his BeyBlade competition at Isetan this afternoon - he made it to the 2nd round this time (he got knocked out in the 1st round the last time - so i guess thats progress)

there is another BB competition in Parkson KLCC at 2:30pm tomorrow, also organised by Litt Tak again. Not sure if i want to go there again as it'll clash with the Corean F1

FYI: the next BB Competiton is next week at Isetan KLCC again, 2:30 pm on 31/10. Litt Tak says more planned for the school holidays including a Tag-Team tournament as well. Not quite sure what the mechanics are for that type of game.

Also, i had a word with one of the organisers and he kindda of looked shocked when i suggested a non-kiddies BB competition. He didn't think that there was a demand for it. i told him about the LYP forum and he still couldn't beleive it.

So i guess if there are any of you not in the under 12 group who are keen then i guess its time to show your support and push LT to try for such an event.

Viper: the R Escolpio is quite a nifty blade but i only had a 70% win rate against my son's Storm Pegausus

Junior: i dont think there is an Isetan in the Curve. There is a Metro Jaya and a TRU - both have BB stuff but TRU doesn't have discounts

update on the BB Competition at Parkson KLCC - 24/10:

unfortunately i couldn't make it there today but my boy still went along.

This time around he faced off with a 14 yr old boy who is a good foot taller than him in the first round and lost.

sigh! back to the drawing board for him i guess. I am not sure what his opponent was using.

Heard this time that the venue wasn't as good as Isetan's and a little crowded - between me and the wifey i can think of a hundred different ways to improve on the handling of the events.

Doc: They do have judges but sometimes they get a little "distracted" by things around them. And yes - i guess the only way to make sure LT is aware of a larger audience is to keep the thread alive. Alternatively - as i saw in a SIN BB forum - someone just suggested a venue in a public area and whoever turns up gets to play. There is a comic shop in Bangsar Village who has started selling BB stuff and they may be "persuaded" to let us use their venue IF there enough players for it.

Viper: i would prefer to call myself malaysian but yes i am. and my boy's name is adam

Guys,

just an update on a new type of BeyBlade that can be found here in KL.

We have all seen the Litt Tak Takara Tomy series BeyBlades in the stores right but i just found a new hobby store called V-Hobby in Mid Valley - it is on the 3rd floor directly opposite from the ToyCity (its the opposite end of the GSc / Bowling Alley)- and they have brought in the Hasbro version of the BeyBlades - the packaging says: BeyBlade Metal Fusion High performance Tops".

The Packaging is much better than the LT ones and is RM 29.90 per set. i got the BB51 Rock Orso Defense D125B and the back of the packaging has a more clearer picture of the stats for each of the top pieces. I guess its because they are targetting the US market thats why the instructions are all in English and makes more sense. Each set also comes with a online code so you can battle online.

I am afraid i dont have time to put up the pix yet or even be able to tell you what the online experience is like - but if anyone else beats me to it - please post your thots here.

The store didnt have that many of these new BeyBlades but they seem to stock a lot of Hasbro stuff. why not check it out
