Azarimy or other UTM seniors,
I am now doing 2nd semester MBA at OUM JB. I am really interested to apply to become a Tutor at UTM during my studies here. Can you tell me more about the tutorship, the requirement, the sponsorship program, the terms, etc? Coz I planned after my graduation, I would like to take PhD at overseas university, then can become UTM lecturer/dr/prof. As with my working experience, I have already work for 10 years in various companies. I just got bored with work, and intend to change profession to become university lecturer.

QUOTE(azarimy @ Jun 30 2009, 12:19 AM) u should talk to the head of department or the dean. they're the best people who can advise u what to do. it all depends on the availability of the posts. some may take u immediately but as a part time tutor. others are more of a permanent staff, but the process is longer. for the permanent spot, u will be attached with the university and they will sponsor ur PhD overseas (everything included). after acquiring ur PhD, u will be bonded for about 7 years with UTM. but be aware that although lecturing might sound easier than ur job, teaching is only 1 out of 7 responsibilities of an academician. there are the other 6 that u should be prepared to do. Yes, I know it's a big and heavy responsibility. Actually, my wife is now a teacher in primary school. She too is interested to further her studies by doing Master. My plan is that if I can do the PhD overseas after my graduation under UTM sponsorship, she too can apply for govt sponsorship for her Master. Then both of us can go and study together. But now, to pass the first hurdle is to get the application going as soon as possible. Of course, there will be a lot of red tapes to pass through.
