hey there ,firstly congrats to you

yeah its compulsory for first year to stay in the campus/kolej siswa jaya...even the seniors have to stay in campus with the new rules around...but for really solid reason they will allow u to stay outside,let say ur house is just around the campus i think they will give permission....

but my advice to you for first year it is better for you to staywith ur studio peers ,then u get to know ur studio mates better and u can get along very well..after all ur studio mates will be like ur family after a long time u spend together..

actually it doesnt matter where ur staying at,because u will be in the studio like 24/7...like us we just going back to our room to take bath and sleep (if we have free nights) 

the hostel is at Jalan rejang 4,around setapak...it is quite far from the campus....we need to take bus to campus...and it will be a bonus if u have ur own transportation because..during weekend there is no bus around...and the last bus every night is at 10.30 pm....

yeah the maximum is 30 person per batch,my batch have the most student,28 and the rest around 20++....next sem i will start my 2nd year...

advice?hmmm...while in the holidays try to make ur fundamentals stronger..as in basic drawing...it will help u alot later

siswa semarak eh??im might be ur roommate,but dunno yet lolz.
not very strict yo but better keep ur room tidy and clean since felo like to check2 every morning (unless u lock the door and and dead sleep)

about the registration,just give them a call or u can ask them the direct number for the head of department for architecture....im sure they doesnt mind...make sure u inform them...and just write a letter and bring it during the registration...

ur a girl?hahaha didnt realise that before....hahah thats why u are in siswa semarak..because archi girl for first year always stay inside the campus...for siswa semarak its more than two person in a room,some do get mixup with seniors..from what i heard lah from the girls

Dont worry lah,the intake for boys and girl are equally balance in this course ....my batch have 15 guys and 13 girls...that is close to 50/50...but some courses do have 2 or 1 girl per class over 36 boys haha...

so there is plenty amoi in this course 

I would be lying if i say the course is easy...Its far far challenging from spm....

regrets?hahaha we all do feel regrets sometime...but its the passion that make u want to go further 

the subjects given are compulsory...studio is the main core for our course,its consist of half the total credit hours,it will totally drag or rise ur pointer drastically ...

mainly the lectures are in english..but it depends on the lecturer and the subject.....studio mainly are in english but a little bit of bahasa here and there wont hurt anyone rite  hahahha both language are important...depends on which one you comfortable with...

haha i think u get me wrong there,studio means design class,if u get bad result for design the it will effect your pointer...no lah you can choose either to work in studio or at home/room,but its better to work at the studio,u can get plenty of thing when u are in studio(seniors,friends,lecturer)and some lecturer stayed back to help us in our design,that's why staying at the studio is important,learn to work in group,share ideas and plenty more...

for first year it is crucial to stay at studio because u need to learn many things from senior,lecturer will not spoon feed you just like in school,u need to learn basic stuff like shading,rendering,drawing,colouring mostly u can learn from ur senior,but some things the lecturer will teach you,if u are lucky

for first year first sem if i was not mistaken,my time there is 5 subject,design is the core subject while other like building services,structure are elective..there are compulsory subject such as Tamadun Asia  and Hubungan Etnik that every student have to take..

yerp the studio is for 30 people,u will have ur own drafting table,personal desk and space to work and the lecturer will come during studio hours which is 8-5 on monday and thursday,and have a critiques session with the student,presentation will be held during studio hours also,and design is your main subject,the heart of the course,all your other subject will influence your design,not like in school where all subject equal the same..

lecturer will take your attendance,and crit session with lecturer are very important,(attendance)they can fails you if your attendance is not so good eventhough your design is a masterpiece...and dont forget design is a subjective subject,all the mark depends on the 3 lecturer in the studio,one will be the the head of the studio,which we call studio master

KSS,although there is Guard house and CCTV everywhere nearest to campus,doesnt mean it safe.

Last sem,3 of my friends and 1 senior lost their laptop and handphone.
There is a case where a girl steal her room mate stuff even an ATM card!

My advice,please keep your belonging safe and lock your locker and always lock your room's door every night.

Yes after many case reported missing stuff etc,the security already been tight.
There is curfew time that is after 11pm,you cant premitted in or out of the campus unless you have good reason.

Sure,after Minggu Haluan Siswa  u free to go home or outing with your friends and yeah im from Ampang.

Hello everyone! I'm going to be doing my diploma in electronics engineering in UTM and I have some questions to ask.

1. I saw the dress code, and would like to know during the registration and formal events,what do non-Bumi girls usually wear? (I'm thinking of baju kurung or a Punjabi suit) They are asking us to wear 'baju lengan panjang, berkolar dan memakai kain labuh berwarna
gelap.' I can't imagine such a combination.
2. The hostel (I will be in KSJ), how many people must share a bathroom?

3. Do we have classes on Fridays? I've heard some places don't.

I hope you guys can help me out here.

Thanks for all your answers! Btw, what interview are you referring to, ktanlow? (please tell me it's the JPA one!) I only received a letter and that did not mention anything about an interview. I'm so freaking worried now!!
