QUOTE(SPYiNG @ Jan 24 2010, 11:00 PM) cheok, Wah, so much questions... lolu r archi student right? erm, i juz finish spm and still looking around LYN to find the courses that suits me i wonder why did u interested in doing archi course? i had read tru azarimy's thread and still struggling whether i should take diploma in archi or not.... (as i m kinda interested in computing too juz want to hear more advices or comments from others about d course... so that when i decide to take it, i won't regret and look back anymore... is it true that architect's lifestyle is hectic? and it is underpaid job... and 1 more thing i concern about doing the course....how much did u need to spend for the tools or things u used for the course (model making, sketching, drawing, bla bla bla...) every year or every MONTH? n... is it better for archi sudents to use laptop or desktop? what did u use? laptop? desktop? sorry ya for asking so many questions..... anyway, thanks in advance~ lets start with the first one... QUOTE i wonder why did u interested in doing archi course? Well, simply because I liked making something beautiful, Architect is like the 'professional' career which is related to 'beautiful artistic things' and leaving my mark on earth before my time is up... and of course, one of the typical answer would also be, "it's a combination between science and arts" When building something, an architect would be the head of it, preceded by only the govt/client/town-planner but note that architects can be anything from industrial designer, interior designer, landscape architect, etc but those professions cannot be architects unless they go through this 3~5 years course... QUOTE so that when i decide to take it, i won't regret and look back anymore... is it true that architect's lifestyle is hectic? and it is underpaid job... Regret.... is DEFINITE!! lol! You just have to must have the PASSION Especially when the submission date approaches... Lifestyle is definitely hectic! You wouldn't be able to keep up with your normal sleeping hour for long... even eating habit's weird... I come to think that architects die young... hahaha, choi choi... underpaid... okay lar... depending on the size of your project.... but I can't comment much on this... have to leave this question to the one who has already been working... QUOTE how much did u need to spend for the tools or things u used for the course (model making, sketching, drawing, bla bla bla...) every year or every MONTH? Hmm.... it varies... but it could go up to RM100~RM250 PER project but please note that there is this dreadful work known as RE-DO and you can have as many as 6 projects a semester or as little as 2....large scale projects.... Printing A1 (4xA3) min would be around RM8 and for one project, you can have more than 10 A1 boards at times... QUOTE n... is it better for archi sudents to use laptop or desktop? what did u use? laptop? desktop? Personally, I'm using laptop for easy.... transportation but financially, desktop would be better. Lots of students leave their desktop around the studio as there'll be students in the studio almost 24/7.... for the same price, a desktop would perform better, upgrade cheaper but... just the transportability laa... at the end its entirely up to you lor =) feel free to ask me anymore questions =D QUOTE(MyKy44 @ Jan 25 2010, 12:48 AM) Which Saturday Nite?I'm going back on the 12th... =7 you? going back early?
