Hello guys
I bought an ATCS 840 for my new desktop and was suprised by its gigantic size and weight. I hope the ventilation really worth it.
Is there any tips such as changing the initial fan to a better one for improving airflow?
p/s: I haven't touch anything so basically its still using 2 fans at the top,1 at the front and 1 at the back. Forgot the size >.<

Eh..but I checked some reviews and score for that cooler..with 2 fans..the temperature of an OC i7 920 to 3.8gig is lower by a few degree compared to prolimatech megahalem..quite cool eh..but don't know about the look tho.. 1Fan setup..still quite good http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardw...-review-10.html2Fans setup..noisy but. http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardw...-review-11.htmlThis post has been edited by undine: Jul 20 2009, 01:37 PM

Everyone have a good looking casing sia... Question: CM V8, is it possible to switch the stock fan with a 90CFM 120mm fan (LED)? If it is possible, should I change to a 90CFM fan? And for any ATCS840 user here, did you guys add up all optional fan at every available slot and switch the 230mm fan to Stormforce? I'm afraid that it would mess up the air ways. (Intake from front, exhaust at back and top) Anything you guys can tell me bout this? I'm really confused about adding additional fan at the bottom(suck in air, or exhaust) and swapping the 230mm for stormforce...

I use all my optional fans ncluding the 2x120mm fans at the back of the 3.5" drive cage. As the case is so huge I feel this helps with the airflow. My bottom fan is intake. I don't use the fan shroud at the back tho as it doesn't seem to affect my temps much. I also disabled the front top 230mm fan. My only exhaust is the rear 120mm and just the one 230mm fan at the top rear. I feel having the front top fan on removes cool air before it gets to the components in the case so I had that off and covered the grill. Another reason I did that is I prefer having a positive pressure instead of negative pressure in the case (Intake>Exhaust). first post! icic..so how's the cooling? better with positive pressure? i was thinking of that too..coz it seems that the stock design is exhaust>intake.. cant wait to get my rig on this monday..hopefully..and then i will try to make some adjustment to the fan and all..

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(SanjuroM @ Aug 1 2009, 04:33 AM) Cooling is better but not so much due to the postive pressure - but from not connecting the front top 230mm fan (the cool air isn't routed out prematurely but gets routed to the areas that need it) and having the optional fans installed. In fact with that fan config it's more of a neutral pressure because the only added intake is the bottom fan. I just don't like having neg pressure because it just negates the purpose of having dust filters on all intakes that already comes with the case. One of the reasons I chose this case were the included dustfilters - thus having neg pressure (dust would come in thru the gaps in the case) wouldn't make much sense which I think is a bit of a design flaw by CM. Luckily it's easily remedied by disabling the forward top fan and adding a bottom intake which is already filtered - so you get 2 added benefits: improved airflow and less dust. I'm thinking of adding a Scythe Kama Bay at the front just above the front intake - and have cool air blow straight into the mobo area. It takes up 3 5.25" bays. One of the advantages of having 6 bays on the 840 to play with. But it's hard finding one in my area.. I see..thanks for all of the troublesome explanation...and the products that ur looking for seems quite good Basically, to get pos pressure, just remove the top front fan right? I guess once I got my rig I'll start experimenting with all the possible setup for the fan and all..dust filter rox coz my hostel room is non a/c for now and dust keep on coming out of nowhere.. So for the front fan and top back, are you using the stock fan? The only way I can light the casing is through CCFL and LED fan

QUOTE(SanjuroM @ Aug 2 2009, 12:37 AM) My case right now is completely taken apart for paint work..and awaiting parts for new components like new cpu, cpu cooler , mobo, vid, ram - basically complete overhaul lol. But yeah I plan to use the 230mm stock fans - kinda hard to find non stock ones that fit this case. I know CM sells a blue led 230mm fan specifically for the Storm Sniper, that might fit, not sure. Also the Scythe Kama Bay I linked earlier, comes with blue led 120mm fan that shows through the mesh - and you can swap out a different led fan if you are so inclined. I see...I guess I just buy one or two stormfoce and some red LED fans for now..fill up all the available slot and switch the rear exhaust for some lighting effects..thanks a lot btw
