Those shops tries to "chop" consumers who are not aware of the market for camera goods. Just imagine the amount of profit they make with that.
I had a similar experience yesterday. Me and my friend was looking for a basic 58mm Hoya UV HMC filter. At YL Camera, got quoted about RM70, but no stock. Then we went over to Sg Wang to scout, no stock also. Then went into Fotokem and Bintang Maju (if not mistaken) in Lowyat Plaza. Both offered like RM180. I was like WTF? I burst out in laughter when they told me the price. They must be thinking I could be a potential victim. I think when they saw me laugh, they also went WTF??
