Hi,

My friend and I plan to take the PADI open water diving license and would like to ask if anyone of you here are interested. There would be two parts to this:

Part 1 - theory and swimming pool
Part 2 - practical sea diving

For part 1, we would be doing the theory and pool diving in Klang Valley on the weekends. For part 2, we would be spending 4 days 3 nights at Redang which would be around the Raya period.

We are learning this way because we have heard a lot of our friends that the 5 days 4 nights course at the beach is very cramped and you don't really have enough practise. We have found a good Chinese PADI certified instructor and he is patient enough to spend many weeks for the part 1 coaching to make sure all of us have all the necessary experience for part 2.

Total cost including certification, rental of equipment, transport & accommodation is estimated to be about RM2k. We can negotiate for group discount is the response is good. Only 3 spaces left for the September diving course at Redang.

Thanks.

The course fee is RM900. The rest is just an estimated cost for transportation and 3 nights accommodation at Redang.

bro, you don't have to do your OW in KL. do in redang during off peak season in 5 star resort, around rm1500

contact your dive center in redang and have that OW manual sent to you.
OW manual is basically teaches you how not to kill yourself. do all the knowledge review. Once you reach there in the morning, start video, theory, pool. day 2, pool, then dive dive dive!.
Final day, last dive + theory.

try discover scuba center or sealantis. they're not that expensive.
or maybe u would want to consider getting SDI instead of PADI.
at least rm500 cheaper.
Equally recognised.
just my 2 cents. =)

If you really want to be cheap to take your diving license, try attaching yourself to KUSTEM or some local colleges that has diving courses as a subject. I did mine under NAUI for RM900 for 3 days/5 dives, night time for theory.

Yeah...That's why when I was offered I went straight for it. But do not expect first class hotel and food. It's like going on a camping trip type. Hahaha... Now only thing is that I lack a diving buddy... Haha

guys, relax. that is the normal rate actually. it looks expensive because it includes the accommodation and stuffs .

My universities divers club also can take license. Its at Pulau Dayang, 4-5 days if im not mistaken. Take 2 license together, Advanced Diving and Night diving . It costs around RM1.9k but the club subsidies the trip until become RM1.4k

Go for it guys, Redang is much worth it than the west coast islands. I had a great holiday 2 months ago in Perhentian.

so any of you guys keen on taking the open water diving license? our plan is to take up the berjaya tioman or redang package - includes flight, accommodation at berjaya hotel and course fees. All in about 2k.
