Hi guys..
I need your opinion to place my projector.
The room is quite complicated got lot of windows.
My idea is,put a screen and home theater between C and I.
So,the rear speaker will be on top of my head vertically from couch.
I dont think it will give a good surround.So,what is your opinion ? Really appreciate all your comment bro.

A-B = 17F
A-E = 5.5F
E-F = 2F
F-G = 9F (Window)
A-C = 11F (sliding door)
B-D = (sliding door)
D-I = (door)

Red = Surround speaker
Yellow = Projector
Black = HT setup

Given your doors and windows, I suppose C-I is best.

Do you often use sliding door A-C? What does it open out to?

i never open A-C sliding door,but often on B-D coz got fish pond there.
The problem is,if C-I,my surround speaker will be on top of my head.
If so,still can get a good surround ?

You can see 2 or 3 ft away from wall BD and put your surround speakers behind the sit.
Projector should be mounted on celling.
With 17ft throwing distance, you can get 130" screen.

im thinking to get HD65. ^^
but not yet decide coz i need to see the actual demo.
I got another idea.but got some problem.
since i seldom open A-C sliding door,i think to put the
HT setup between A-C bottom.But the problem is,where i should put the white screen ?
coz at the back got thick curtain and glass.or is there some kind of white screen holder,or mount it to the ceiling ?

the projector will mount at back somewhere around B-D.
its very far from the player.got long video wire ?

im using thick wire where it consist 2 red wire and 2 black wire.
im having problem when connecting the wire to the AVR because it very thick and hard.
so do u know anything that i can do to connect it without hassle ?

U connect bare wire? Try banana la. How thick is ur cable....10awg?

Yes, a banana plug is that little gold thingy that connects to your bare cable wires.

There are various designs out there, not sure if all will fit any size cable. How thick a wire are you using (look for the AWG rating)?

Added on June 26, 2009, 3:41 pmIf you never open A-C then can consider putting your screen there. If there is a curtain track from A-C then suggest you hang a thick, black curtain there. Helps to cut down light from outside and the black curtain is an effective background for the screen.

Surround speakers don't necessarily have to be mounted at ear height. In fact many recommend them be mounted 2-3 feet above ear height.

Yup, you might need to mount the screen from the ceiling or custom make a partition to hang the screen (like hanging a painting). Are you planning to use a fixed screen?

Yes, long video wires can be bought. I suppose you are using HDMI cable to connect to projector? It's possible to buy 10m length locally. If you need longer, see: http://www.bluejeanscable.co.uk/store/hdmi-cables/index.htm They have up to 30m.

Yes you can sit nearer because pixellation won't be as visible. However, sitting distance should primarily be decided by screen size and your own viewing comfort.

another thing that should keep in mind is the lens shift of the projector.....the wider the shift...the easier/more flexible it is to place.
also need to remember that the max shift noted for the projctor....one cant use both (vertical+lateral) extremes in the same instance.

e.g. my pj is actually off center from the screen's center line. but mine is wall mounted so i had it placed low so i didnt need to use the vertical shift...but used plenty of the lateral shift.
