Has the camera quality shot improved?

Hmmm! I shall go there to claim.

Interesting, I just bought my tube on 4th of July and of course base on the guides, I checked the camera lens...

There were green strips and stuff like you guys mentioned...sigh.

Though the phone is really really good, but I kinda of think Nokia is trying to pull a fast one on us, such manufacturer defect is unacceptable. I'm going to get mine fix soon.

but mine is totally all black.in my work order sheet technician wrote change lcd screen module and camera module

My hunch is this issue: it is either the LCD screen module is defective or the camera is defective...or the technician just tweak the LCD screen module/camera module so that it would give us an output of 'black' screen when we cover the camera, but of course this shouldn't affect the normal LCD display.

Another theory is that, some of us reported that they do not have the green lines and noise disruption effect on their tube's camera is most probably due to which batch/which country of phone that was manufactured. I believe due to the high demand for this phone, some phones ships here are probably assembled in a poorer condition.

...or, there are some settings in the phone we haven't look into yet that might cause this. tongue.gif

Any thoughts here?

Try the N96 if it's an option. Shouldn't be a problem - my Opera mini runs great but crashes on occasion.

Added on July 7, 2009, 5:08 pmBTW, confirmed 5800 meetup is at REPUBLIC, Sunway Pyramid.

Hey, peeps!

Hope y'all had a good weekend.

This is where I remind y'all to signup for the Nokia meetup coming this Saturday.

Date: 18 July, Saturday
Venue: Republic, Sunway Pyramid
Time: 10am -1.30pm

Don't worry, you'll be fed and not lectured to. It's really great how you guys are so active here and provided an incredible resource for Nokia 5800 users where they can find answers to almost everything about the phone.  rclxms.gif

(Secretly I'm jealous of the black Tube owners, haha)

So come come come this Saturday. biggrin.gif

First of all, I'm kinda like noobish guy on Nokia-Symbian phones. Need some opinions from hot guns like you guys.

I was at one of the phone stalls in 1U, they are selling Capdase leather casing (the one with flip cover) for RM100, is it worthy, to start with...is it that kind of price? Are they any better deal out there? Personally, I prefer the leather casing because I'm kinda like an ah pek guy. sweat.gif

And as for the screen protector, what's the recommended brand and the appropriate price range? I mean I kinda a lot recommendations, comments, opinions flying around in the forum...information overload, baffled, lost. sad.gif icon_question.gif

I have just downloaded and installed Google Maps, and I must say it is pretty impressive. However, when I was using it halfway, I notice that Google Maps uses GPRS/GPS/DigiNet? (Please correct my if I'm wrong)

I quickly terminated the application and check the Log and there were packet data going in and out using DigiNet protocol...does that means I'm charged for using Digi data services? doh.gif

Hi guys,

Do you guys happened to know how to transfer SMSes from Phone Memory to Memory Card? I had quite a number of SMSes that are in Phone Memory, and I wanted to consolidate everything in my memory card, but I can't seem to find the right function to transfer everything over. I looked into phone memories directory via Mass Storage, but can't find the path, any idea here guys?

Hi guys, I managed to get Garmin working, and I must say, it is pretty cool stuff, I have few queries here:-

1. Accuracy of the GPS
- I think I'm fiddling too much with GPS while I'm driving, taking up, admiring it and putting it down, it seems to me whenever I lightly jerk the phone, I can see the co-ordinate and route shifted.
- I took a U-turn and it says "Recalculating Route", my balls shrunk that moment because I was going somewhere I'm not familiar with
- I selected a petrol station via some menus, wanting it to guide me there, however, when I reached there, the petrol station was closed for renovation

Do you guys experience funny stuff like this?

2. Car Gear Stand thingie for Nokia 5800
You guys have any idea where it is sold? I'm thinking of having that thingie so that I can put the phone right in-front of me when I am driving.

Cheers.

hey guys, do u guys feel that the 5800 battery is a bit weak and drain fast?

Yeap. I think it is our usage habits that contributed to battery consumption. hmm.gif

mine can last 2-3day smile.gif

Mine can last about 2 days, it really depends on usage habits I believe, I mean here's what I do with it:-

1. Wifi surfing
2. Apps downloading and installing
3. Averagely 1-2 hours music playing (for a total of 2 days)
4. Fiddling with calender entries, SMS
5. Phone calling 1 hour ++
6. A little bit of gaming
7. USB connectivity for file copying and stuff (I kinda think that this drain battery power, but then again I can be wrong)

I recalled once that my batt lasted for a day.

I think we should post more usage journal (given if we have the time) for our phone so that we can monitor own usage behaviour and probably we can gauge battery usage or Symbian OS behavior, because Symbian seems to have some minor instability. (if you ask me) Nonetheless this is still a great phone.
