below rm2k is just plain demeaning
only those with barely passing qualifications can consider to accept these kind of desperate offer
not to be disrespectful, but its a general fact

maple, u shud jump to a better offer when u have the chance
a fresh grad with not much experience yet on what to expect, so dun feel down
most probably just another common case of employers wanting cheap labor by getting fresh grads
u wun feel the same way after u have 1 year experience
good luck

Salary bracket ranges from RM1,800 to RM2,300 for beginner's tier.

Salary may climb up to RM5,000 to RM8,000 for intermediate's tier. A friend of mine is a chemist working in private sector. Her last drawn salary was approximately RM4,500 per month (Degree from a reputable local University + couple of years of working experience).

Regards, Joey

I'm assuming that by 'chemist' you're referring to laboratory based work where chemistry knowledge is indispensable.

There is always demand for QA/QC chemists as they're required in a wide array of industries. Pay extra attention to the principles behind HPLC/GC/NMR and (if you're still an undergraduate student) get into a research group that would grant you access to those instruments, such experiences will help make you stand out among the pool of applicants.

I believe the starting pay is around RM 3-4 k for a fresh grad, but your career advancement would be limited until you get a postgraduate degree.

A good advice i got from friends, get into Data Analytics. You can utilize this knowledge in your everyday career lives. Engineer/Scientist with technically competent analytics is in demand now.

for a chemist, generally the pay is a bit on the low side. What u can do is try to enter either:

i) Petrochem (hardest to enter) or
ii) Chemical based company (western/japanese/korean mnc)

both have good remuneration package. The HR has good communication among these chemical companies and they will tried to revise the package to prevent good talent jump to another company..

Hope this will help

oh, if u have good personality, might want to try sales chemist as well.
