I have got my loan 1 and a half year ago. But during the last semester, the staff at the loan&scholarship reception in my uni said that I did not get the desired GPA and could not get the loan for the next semester. I went through a lot of trouble and finally had 8k+ to pay for my fee this semester.

I've then heard from a friend that her brother was getting loan from PTPTN too. And her brother actually failed some of his units and did very bad all the time, but he still able to get his loan money every semester.

I felt weird and went to PTPTN website to check. I went to this website:
http://www.ptptn.gov.my/web/english/loans/suspension
It says the loan will be suspended only if my GPA is lower than 2.0.

And from my uni's website, I found the calculation for GPA:
http://www.curtin.edu.my/scholarship/gpa_cgpa.htm
I got all my marks over 50+ and I think one has 60+ last semester. I would get 2.0 GPA if I score only 50 for every units. That means I definitely passed the requirements for getting the loan.

Now my questions. What can I do to check how much I've actually loan from PTPTN so that I know how much I am owing them. I'm afraid that the staff actually "eaten" my money. Another thing that I felt weird about that staff is that she said "Your GPA is below **(couldn't remember how much she said), you cannot get the loan for next semester, UNLESS I ACCIDENTLY CLICK THE BUTTON".

I know, too long to read. Anyone who is kind enough to read and help me?

Can't you check on the ptptn site?

I've done what I can, looked through the website, just not yet call them and ask. BTW, how do you calculate GPA? I'm wondering how I fail mine.

It depends..your uni is using % system right? I just checked your uni website and it's at least 55% average for that semester

And the formula on how to calculate your GPA is on your uni website.

Example,

GPA = ( Total product for a semester) / (Total Credits Hours for a semester)
GPA = (57.5 + 50 + 82.5 + 0) / ( 25 + 25 + 25 + 25) = 1.9
*
I did quite bad for this semester as I can't focus on my studies. I get 51, 53, 57, 61 for the 4 units I took for the semester.

If I get 50 for all units, then
(50+50+50+50) / (25+25+25+25) = 2.0

Now with my results,
(51+53+57+61) / (25+25+25+25) = 2.22

So why did I fail to get over 2.0 GPA? Unless they calculate by using quality point, which is
(1.7 + 1.7 + 2.0 + 2.3) / 4 = 1.925
