Hi! My spouse and I just signed my S&P.. and the lawyer tell us, he'll give us a certified copy.. not the original. We also signed only 2 copies of S&P (one for bank, and for laywer, none for use).
The issue is, the certified copy is not free.. The copy is free, but not the certification. Each certification cost around RM50.
Now, in my head, we need to withdraw KWSP for the first time.. -S&P, -title -consent letter.
That's already 3 documents, need to be certified (~rm150). And both of us want to widhraw our KWSP. So, now we need to sets of above documents.. Now, the cost is (~RM300).
Then, sometime later, both of us has also planning to withdraw our KWSP for the monthly widhrawal (pengeluaran ansuran bulanan pinjaman perumahan). So, we'll need another sets of above document, certified.. that would be another few hundreds..
I'm wondering, can we just get one set of above document, certified by the lawyer.. then, photocopy the documents, bring the photocopies to KWSP and ask the KWSP officer to certify the photocopied version based on the copies that has been certified by the lawyer?? I hope I'm not confusing you guys..
*I heard some people make extra original copy.. so, buyer also keep original. But in my case, the S&P has been signed.. cannot go back in time*

hmm, actually it was easy procedure. this is what i do last 2 months
after i sign my SNP, lawyer give me 2 SNP (one is stamped ORIGINAL & another one is DUPLICATE). the ORIGINAL i give to my bank lawyer & i keep the DUPLICATE. i photostate the DUPLICATE & also bring along DUPLICATE then KWSP officer certify it & give me back my DUPLICATE and take only the photocopied one. after 2 days the money is in my account (so fast!)

How about the money that you have paid throughout the process? Are they justified? If possible, can someone list down the estimated prices throughout the process? I'll be going through the same process very soon

Now, I feel relief!!! no problem mate. i also at first confused with this. luckily my agent is very good by explaining every step by detail. my lawyer also kinda helpful. anyway, u can always ask ur lawyer about anything becoz u already paid them just don't trust them too much.

Don't worry.. all the price are non-negotiable.. hehe.. i mean, all are standard.. set by government.. The only thing you can get discount is the lawyer fee (price also standard, set by government but you can get/ask for a small discount.. maybe can save you a few hundreds ringgit only) and miscellaneous things charged by the lawyer like photocopy, postage etc..

The lawyer is charging me for that.. I have a friends, he also said he's being charged RM50 by his lawyer to get a copy of his title.. So, I guess, it's normal.. So, I guess, it's normal.. ic, it's Certified True Copy (CTC) damn that lawyer! RM50 is way too much. u better go to 'Pesuruhjaya Sumpah' to make CTC. usually cost RM10 only. btw, if u wanna withdraw kwsp no need CTC. just bring original document & photocopy. the kwsp officer will cross check ur originals then return it 2 u. if u don't have originals then only need 2 do CTC like my case (i don't have the original 'Surat Ikatan Serahak' so my lawyer make CTC for FREE) This post has been edited by mancy: Jun 23 2009, 09:18 PM

i think last time kwsp only go through the photocopied documents. yes, the original copy suppose to keep in bank but i have original and duplicate, i guess in the future easier to sell house... ( i believe bank took the duplicate copy cause the front cover got color same as original , wo ho ho ho )
so far the lawyer didn't charge us for duplicate copy, they did two sets with colors on front page... but, i didn't see the word certified... i think most probably you can take to pesuruhjaya sumpah for rm5 each page of certified chop and sign
there's two types of pesuruhjaya sumpah, one type is inside law firm( i guess this is what you mean for certified) last time charge rm70 for a letter with chop(my mom apply for government flat) , another one is outside/ mamak/ shoplots (charge rm20 for type letter and chop when my uncle do it, the lastest one is when we type letter ourselves he certified each page only rm5)

Still blurr...
I am signing S&P this coming weekend.
Question: "IF" the lawyer is asking for "certification fee", should I give-in and pay?
