whoa~ at least you guys put it in good use.

some people I know just buy for the sake of the looks, of course we're also part of them.

but at least you guys still use the macro keys.  rclxms.gif

honestly, I couldn't find a game that needs macro. Or rather I don't play those games...

what games do you guys play that requires macro, mind sharing?
*
one of it is wow laugh.gif tongue.gif

warcraft uses lots of shortcut keys and imo, if you can use your macros to organize your shortcuts, then you can play the game easier and faster. thats one of the game i know uses tons of shortcuts keys.

Aisey, im still finding for a good keyboard..
My definition of good is..
1)A nice tactile feedback when pressing on the keys
2)At least 5 to 10 macros
3)classic size, not those super compressed junk.

Others like back lit are not necessary.

Sidewinder X6 ;D if u like flat keys .....

Added on November 30, 2009, 7:25 pm

Do you felt comfortable with flat keys? If not I guess sidewinder X6 is good for your requirement..... due for it's detachable numpad, I guess it can fits very well in small places >.<
*
if not, the classic G15. or if you can wait, i would say G110 brows.gif

how to test the "ghosting ability" of a keyboard? ( aka no of keys can be pressed at a time )

anyone ever tried on their keyboard?
*
try press as many keys as you can at the same time. then see how many keys register into your pc smile.gif

there is limitation for keyboard with PS2 and USB iinm. my G15 could only register 7 keys at a time. but if you have mechanical switches type keyboard, all keys will register if you press all the keys at the same time.

abit messy n some even report the connector not fitted well.. suddenly no display... not really sure about it though coz never use it..

just don't like the idea.. thinking better use additional monitor biggrin.gif
*
exactly. when i first saw g19 i thought of it too. once you have external power especially on keyboard, it changes things. for me, cable lying around my table is not eye catching. i totally hate to manage my cable and i even hate it more if it is messy and with an extra cable, i have to make sure that it doesnt look obvious on my table.

anyway, its really a good idea to get a small LCD to show whatever you wanna see on your keyboard LCD. i support that laugh.gif not to mention, the price range is around the same thumbup.gif

wow g110 here already...

so basiscally is g19w/oLCD??

g110 vs g15

who will win??
(ignore lcd part)
*
surely i would say G110. its not really that expensive compared to G15 plus it has more macro keys. design wise, it looks better than G15. lastly, the multi colour for those who like bling bling.

so imo, 9 out of 10 people would choose G110 over G15. unless you are LCD keyboard freak tongue.gif

bought a SteelSeries Merc Stealth keyboard recently for RM275 and since im free now i'll make a simple review about it biggrin.gif tongue.gif
before i start i would like to say, this review is base on my opinion and sorry if i offended anyone smile.gif

SteelSeries Merc Stealth Mini Review

The Package:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

nice and simple and also heavy (approx. 2kg)

Inside the Package:
everything was pretty simple. also, there isnt a driver CD/DVD too. but there is a booklet that guide you to their website to download the driver. btw, their driver/software called z engine is a total crap imo (will explain later laugh.gif).

The Keyboard:
Well, pictures tell you everything.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
The typing feeling is nice. its consider quiet compare to my G15 and it took me quite some time to get adapt to the keys coz the whole keyboard kinda shift to the right.

This is the part of the keyboard i like the most brows.gif
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
this cannot be compare to my G15 coz G15 doesnt even have this feature on it. the extra game pad is really useful during gaming especially first person games. i tried if on COD 6: Modern Warfare 2 and i adapt to it so naturally. all the keys that you need for gaming is beautifully place making it easy to adapt even for a first time like me tongue.gif

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

sadly to say, this keyboard is a total crap for normal usage. the arrows button were arrange together with the numpad and that is really frustrated when you wanna use the numpad and arrows together (somehow i cannot get use to it). on top of that, the whole section of the ins, del, home, end, page up, page down keys and so on are totally integrated into the numpad. meaning, in order to use it, the numpad trigger has to be off doh.gif

the driver is not really user friendly. its layout is completely different from the other software i seen before. but if you play with it long enough i guess you will know how to meddle with it. for me, i do not have enough patience to play with it all day long. unlike G15 the software is very straight forward and you will get it right even the first time you use it

also. the bad news is, i have problem with the driver. im not sure if the driver i downloaded wasnt working or what, but i tested both UK and US version both still doesnt solve my problem. the problem is that i couldnt set macros/keys with application. i tried different keys with different version of driver. still cannot sad.gif

My favorite part. the lighting brows.gif

Comparing with G15
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
The lighting was really awesome and its even brighter than G15 but if you look closely, the Merc is fully lighted but not on the multimedia keys (Top left of the kb) doh.gif

To simplify things, here is the pros and cons biggrin.gif

Pros:
•The extra gamepad provided is perfect for gaming. All the button you ever need for gaming is there and you can customize it if you need.
•Capability to customize every single keys on the keyboard
•Typing feels good and almost identical to G15 but a lil quieter
•Extra audio and mic jack but sound quality from the audio output of the keyboard is significantly decrease.
•Tilting at 11 degree is higher compare to G15 and i really like high tilted keyboard brows.gif
•Lighting is brighter compare to G15 but somehow the multimedia keys are not lighted. i guess SS assume we dont use it during gaming tongue.gif

Cons:
•A very crappy keyboard for normal usage because of the layout of the right side of the keyboard (Numpad area).
•Driver/software is not user friendly and its faulty though im not sure who's fault is it. could be me or the software itself

Conclusion:
if you are a hardcore gamer than i would recommend this keyboard. for me, i dont really do alot of gaming these days so most of the time i'll be using it for windows application. hence, i really felt frustrated at times mainly because of the numpad and arrows keys that are arrange together. besides the driver problem i really think its a descend keyboard but it is certainly not a universal keyboard. it is very strictly for gaming only laugh.gif

*hope you guys enjoy it and sorry if i left out anything.

Nice review you got there! Simple, unbiased and infromative. The driver issue is a hindrance though, but I'd say a nice addition to one gaming keyboard collection ;p I think you left out how much it cost (RM) currently, and/or which store you'd recommend forumers to get one would be nice. Beside that, good job well done!!
*
thanks man. anyway, i bought it at RM275 from moderno. i guess you can get it from from most lyner that sells it or in lyp.

also, updated the review smile.gif

I'm getting a gaming keyboard next week Wednesday, I am now struggling which keyboard I should buy, razer is completely out of my list as I prefer the keystroke feeling of logitech, steelseries marc stealth is out of my list as well because the arrow key is located same as the number keypad. Now I left 2 choices, G110 and G15 v2.

I do not know whether it has been discussed previously or not as there are too many pages in this thread. >.< So for those who got these keyboards, is it possible to share with me which one you prefer? Many thanks for you guys.~~ flex.gif  notworthy.gif

ask yourself 1 thing. do you prefer a LCD on your kb or lots of macros smile.gif

G15 and G110 has an obvious different as i mention. G15 has LCD and G110 has more macro keys. you decide brows.gif

Hmm... Thats a good question, actually the LCD is just extra to me, but having 12 macros on the side is also too much for me. (6 is enough though) Haha... well I did read some reviews between those two, found out that the backlit of G110 is much brighter than G15 v2, but G15 v2 backlit can blink according to music.

I also found out that G15 v2 palm rest get easily broken. ( not sure about the G110). And a lot of people mentioned that the keystroke for G15 is nicer than G110 ( correct me if I'm wrong ).

But I can get much information about that LCD, is it really useful in terms of gaming? or is it just for display purpose?
*
i guess you already chose what you want right tongue.gif G15 suits you better in this case.

G110 backlight is indeed brighter but G15 lights can blink according to the music? i dont think so. unless you have mod it or something. the default G15 doesnt have this feature on it.

about the palm rest, i have been using G15 for over a year now and everything seems okay to me. plus, each time i clean my keyboard, i always remove the palm rest and put it back on. so i guess its quite durable unless you really torture it laugh.gif

im not too sure about the keystroke but i assume it should be almost the same since its from the same family of keyboards. hence, the base design of the keyboard should be almost the same.

for me, the LCD is useful when you are gaming and listening to songs as im able to know what song im playing and the volume lvl. or sometimes you need to know your PC information like the temp, cpu load and etc during gaming. basically, you can see some general information on the small LCD when you are gaming and you can actually customize it too

I am also choosing between buying a G15v2 and a G110. Can anyone help give advice?

1. Not really interested in LCD
2. Kinda interested in G110 has audio jacks on it? But is the quality good or bad? can anyone share with me?
3. Since im using this for gaming im wondering if the USB port 1.1 or 2.0 matters when plugging in a mouse / usb soundcard? Cause G110 is 2.0 while G15 is 1.1 right?
*
yes, G110 is on usb 2.0 while G15 is 1.1. also, i think the audio jack will reduce your sound quality.

anyway, in your case, i suggest you get G110 smile.gif
