Hello!

Which home theater system is good? I'm thinking of getting the S10K+BD60 package at RM4,499 from Harvey Norman but I'll need a home theater system to go with it. I'm mostly gonna be using for Astro, WDTV, DVDs, simple music, and laptop too. No gaming.

Which is good for my combination?

Please let me know!

Thanks!

with a bd player, u need a home theater system with hdmi inputs to make use of the dolby true hd, but 1k to 1.2k is impossible to buy a good full set of home theater system (with hdmi inputs) which is including speakers & subwoofer....maybe can buy a standalone AVR only....most HTiB in the market have no hdmi iput except Sony HT-SF2300 which is selling at RM1,999

The S10+BD player quoted at RM4499 is really an attractive price, it's worth to buy the BD player, after that you can selling to others who want to buy this bd player at >RM1k

Btw, can you plz sharing which HN is offer that price?

if u can afford the blu ray player why compromise the quality buying htib that onli can do PCM but not bitstream?
spend additional 1k on top of the Sony HT-SF2300 u can get a decent amp and entry level speaker.
PCM and bitstream 2 diff world of sounds to me.

Totally agree with u...initially I tend to buy HTiB, but now I'm looking for an entry level AVR

I got my Pana S10k+BD60 for RM4,499 over the weekend at HN, Ikano. I also noticed the same price for the package at Best Denki, Tropicana City too.

It really depends on your preference and budget. When I decided on the S10K+BD60, I also decided to get rid of my existing AV system (old oredi...no HDMI) and being someone who enjoys simplicity without the intricacies of messy wiring all over the place, I ended up with a Yamaha YSP3000. Would have gotten the YSP4000 instead if not for the fact that I hardly ever blast the volume since I live in an apartment. Money saved for buying Bluray software rclxms.gif

What's the difference between Sony HT-SF2300 and Pioneer HTZ777? How much is the Sony one?

Sony HT-SF2300 comes with 3 HDMI inputs which allows you to plug in your WDTV, HDMI DVD player, BD player, XBOX, PS3...etc and it's capable to decode Dolby TrueHD, DTS......you can check the full specs on Sony website!

TuX, ur setup requirements almost like mine (wdtv, astro, ps3)
and i assume u will put ur HTiB in ur living room rite?
so i recommend u buy HTSF-2300 if u hav small living room

i also dream to hav standalone AVR + speakers
but i need proper room to do so
baru SYOKKK

now im in small apartment
so hav to wait until i move to bigger house
hope by that time the AVR can be abit cheaper + more features tongue.gif
hihihi

The thing is, do I even need a Blu-ray player now? I won't buy a Blu-ray disc that will cost me more than RM50, that's for sure. I will mostly be watching Astro, DVD, and HD movies on WDTV.

So I'm thinking, I might just scrap PS3 or DMP BD60. Do I need HTSF-2300? Is it too good for my setup? And yes, mine is a small apartment too sad.gif 42" should be okay, right?

S10K+BD60 package at RM4,499 is really a good price, so I suggest you to buy the BD player also....later on, if you really dun want it, you can sell it at > RM1,000.....in the end, you only paid around RM3k for your P42S10....dun you think it's really really worth it?

Yes, it's worth it, but I've met people who sell just the S10K alone for RM3400. That's an okay price too, right? I don't wanna be "tempted" to over spend on something I may not use...

hmm.. are HDMI two-way?

I know that the HTZ777 has an HDMI port but when you say 'input', you mean we can use it as an input to stream True HD sound to it to play?

Serioulsy, for HitB.. if want get anything equipped with bluray

if not next time want play bluray you will not enjoy hi-def sound, buyt separate BD player also no use as your HitB does not support
