hmm, anybody using a supp line manage to pre-book for iData plan?

i'm using a supp line, value plus family 30 (eligible for iData according to website), and tried pre-booking for iData, but when it comes to step 3, i cannot select iData. only the prepaid option is available.

i selected "No" for the question "would you like to upgrade to Maxis principle post paid line?" since i want to remain as supp line. when No is selected only prepaid option is available. only when Yes is selected, then iValue and Prepaid opens up. iData remains close all the while.

Frustrating vmad.gif

Anybody else having the same problem?

It's expected, since the iPhone booking is only available for Principle Postpaid account holder only. The FAQ says:

3) I am an existing Maxis mobile customer. Can I book?
Yes, but only if you are a Maxis postpaid principal line subscriber.
Supplementary line subscribers, please request your principal line subscriber
to book on your behalf.
*
hi bro, thanks for the help smile.gif but i don't think it means the entire iPhone booking is only available for Principle postpaid account holder only like you mentioned.

in the pre-booking form, there's an option that says "I want to book for a supplementary number" and it allows you to enter your supplementary number.

what the FAQ meant by "please request your principal line subscriber to book on your behalf" is that the principal line subscriber is the one that should fill in that pre-booking form online on behalf of the supp line. meaning the name, IC, etc. should be the principal's name and IC, but in the field supplementary number, that's where you key in your own number if you are the supp line.

anyways, i just got off the line with their callcentre, operator said there's a problem with the form and they've been notified about it already. She asked to try again tomorrow. sigh sad.gif

I've call up Maxis and they said can go to the centre without the email and u have to show the sms with the ref number only. But how true is this im not sure bcos when they answer me they also like not really confirm.
*
yeap it's confirm, coz i followed a friend yesterday who went to pay his deposit at Maxis KLCC. just showed them his reference number he got from the sms they sent him.

@hokkianu i
it should be alright, coz i sorta did the same thing. since i'm the supp line, i kinda registered and paid for my principal line's (my dad's) behalf. got him to forward me the sms registration code. but REMEMBER to give your friend your IC number as well, they'll ask for it. plus your name and telephone number you wanna register. wink.gif

---

woot, finally solved my problem. went to Maxis KLCC, they directed me to their PC (despite me protesting that it's the same website and i've already tried it and it doesn't work!), and voila. it works. sleep.gif"

neways to make this post relevant, just to let you guys know:

collection at Maxis KLCC for 31/7/2009 at the morning slot (9 am to 11am i think), has been FULLY BOOKED.

Seems like the story from Machines is consistent now, they cannot promise stock if Maxis does not allocate enough for them, therefore the staff are told to advice the customer that they might not be able to get it on the 31st as preemptive measure - just in case we all mob them when we are turned away  tongue.gif
*
hehe however i somehow feel that we shouldn't be trusting so much on what Machines say though, coz in my opinion they're probably as informed / ill-informed as us about this, and they are at best, speculating about this. i don't blame them of course, it's not their fault lol. maxis is not keeping their MEPs well informed enough.

my idea of the whole situation is maxis has already allocated a maximum number of units per outlet / per timeslot to sell, that's why certain timeslots are fully booked. so in other words, there should be enough for everyone. haha of course, i'm speculating as well, so my guess is as good as anyone else's wink.gif , so don't take my word for it tongue.gif
---
there's one thing i wanna give Maxis props:
They didn't follow Singtel by distributing the phone only from ONE location on the first day. If not it'd be exactly what happened there, 3000 plus people all in one spot, waiting between 2 to 5 hours just to collect the phone. I think Maxis went the smart way by ensuring you can collect from multiple locations all around on the launch day itself.

anyways, let's all hope everything turns out fine on launch day!

Dear Forumers please take note!!!

Prepaid plan comes with free 500MB for 12 months. Not per month!

Please take this into considerations in your calculations.

dude, go to that same URL you posted.

scroll down.

and read Terms & Conditions, point 4.

"Hotlink customer needs to ensure that their line has validity in order to receive the free 500 MB data every month in their Hotlink plan."

i heard from an insider that the stock is already with Maxis since last week when bookings were opened up to public. So we could assume that since Maxis already has the stock, it already knows how many booking slots to be issued out to the public, and chances of overbooking are low.

plus, with the one week grace period between bookings deadline 24/7 and the collection date 31/7, that might give them extra time to tally the number of bookings and order for extra stock to arrive if overbooking happens.

haha of course, all this, as with all supposedly "insider information", should be taken with a grain of salt. well, heaps of salt if you want. it's still speculation. but it's fun to speculate smile.gif

so meaning to say they are taking bookings blindy, after 24/7 only they count stock whether it's enough?
like tat who book late, sorry la.  sweat.gif
i think then they will based on the order of paid confirmation numbers to determine who can collect their units on the collection day.
*
haha i think you missed out the part where i said "So we could assume that since Maxis already has the stock, it already knows how many booking slots to be issued out to the public, and chances of overbooking are low."

well, just wondering for guys who received a manual receipt, how do they link it to theconfirmation e-mail reference number to confirm that u actually paid the depost? and will the bookings become obsolete automatically on the expired date since the manual receipt hasn't been link at all to the onlinebooking. hope u understand wat i meant....
*
don't worry, it's linked.

if you check out your manual receipt, there's an account number printed somewhere at the top of the receipt. it tallies with the reference number in your confirmation email.

I checked my manual receipt, Maxis center only indicate my name, registered phone # and IC # only. I think maxis center to center is not aligned at
how they write the receipt. Really worry....because it didn't state my reference # at all.
*
are you sure? pls try checking again. you should see something roughly like this:

OFFICIAL RECEIPT
----------------------------------

Thank You for Using Maxis

Acc Name: ############### <------------------------------------This is your Reference Number in your email
Account No: ###############
Payment for: iPhone 3GS Deposit RM200.00
-----------------------------------------------------
TOTAL RM200.00
Cash RM200.00

REMARK
Ur phone# / IC
Name
Model

The numbers listed as "Acc Name" and "Account No" above are the same numbers as your Reference Number in your email.

New Maxis Data Plan - not iPhone specific. http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/broadband...less_volume.asp

It's RM58 (if you use Direct Debit) and 2GB/month. Not bad - I'll probably get this after my 12 month iData contract is up. Comparatively,

iData = 0.5GB = RM50/mth
new data plan = 2GB = RM58/mth
*
isn't this catered for home broadband instead of mobile? how would this work on your iphone? forgive me if i'm wrong smile.gif

with all due respect, please check out the Maxis website first for details like this and also the very first post of this thread. this has been asked time and again, and our poor moderators has to entertain the same questions over and over again.

so before you ask any questions, do your own research first, go through the Maxis website, (hint: find for the F.A.Q.), or read the first post, or search through this thread (hint: search feature is at the bottom of this page), and give our moderators a break.

information is all readily available already. only if you don't understand what the information is talking about, then ask a question here.

for those who have successfully collected, care to share how long you waited in line, and how long they take to process one person?

pretty curious.

yeah, does look like ivalue 100 is quite reasonable with the free sms now, can easy payment somemore...
*
i believe the 100 free sms is from Maxis to Maxis only. there's a footnote at the bottom of the page saying "* Only applicable for Maxis to Maxis."
but there's no single * indicator anywhere in the chart. i'm guessing it's most probably referring to the sms and they missed it out.

I got mine from Queensbay and I pre-book...

By the way, I notice I only got 29.xGb.... Those who bought 32G also get 29GB? I wonder where the 2.xG goes where?
*
i can't find a good proper article to quote but here's a forum posting that pretty much explains this very well. Link

same thing happens when you buy hard drives and thumb drives from any other manufacturer.

my 16GB 3GS shows 14.3 GB instead of 16 GB. LOL
