QUOTE(lesliechan19 @ Jul 25 2009, 11:56 AM) So it means, they still have many in stock? Maxis is not responsible or reliable for any delay or shortage of stocks of iPhone 3GS. It's in the agreement somewhere.I dont think they will stop booking until the day that i3gs release. I got a friend work at maxis and he told me not to pay the deposite and he just can get 1 for me without paying deposite. But the problem is , scare lack of stock! |

QUOTE(xaw5126 @ Jul 25 2009, 08:00 PM) @acronyx Thanks. This is a relieving news. Paid my deposit on 23rd.Maxis already stated that anyone wanting to receive their iPhone on 31st July needs to pre-order before midnight 24th July ... and they also dun wanna tell us when the following stock will be available... personally, I think I will keep my iPhone 3G for another year... save the cash, and get next year's model. dun feel like spending another 2.5K so fast... |

Surely enough a lot of people would want to get their hands on the i3GS asap, it's obvious a lot of ppl booked on the 31st July 10am-2pm. I myself paid the deposit on the 23rd to Machines, 1U wanting to grab the iPhone on the said date and time.
Was worried as hell whether the Maxis will face shortages. At least tinkerbel gave me relieving news, so kudos to you tinkerbel for ur hardwork. =) |

Whereas Singapore gets only 70000 units thats why out of stock in Singapore. |

Assuming Maxis had ordered the iPhones of specific colours and capacities evenly, that's 2750 for each model.
Stop ordering the black 32GB!!!! |

QUOTE(zad78 @ Jul 29 2009, 07:43 PM) Well as for my maxis insider, he told me that those thta get called is actually to confirm what plan that you wanna take. the confirmation email as well as the receipt is still valid for collection. So do not worry I ordered the hotlink prepaid plan (outright purchase). So is it safe to say that I should just walk into Machines 1U and collect the i3GS on the day I chose to collect? Even without getting any phone calls from Maxis. This post has been edited by HuorEarfalas: Jul 29 2009, 07:56 PM |

I phoned Machines 1U regarding about the collection of i3GS. Here's what ensued,
The sales manager picked up the phone and I asked whether I could pick up on the date I specified, he was quick to reply even before I could finish my sentence... "Sorry sir, the stocks will definitely not arrived tomorrow 31/7 as Maxis hasn't given us any notice about collection procedures." I continued asking when do they expect the stocks to arrive... "I can't confirm that with you, sir, as I'm not sure myself either. Maxis hasn't given us any notice regarding about it." I wasn't surprised as I've expected the problem to be at this magnitude, but the problem worsen when I asked if I could get the iPhone before 5th of August as I'll be leaving the country for a year (I lied about the date, but I needed and answer), he seems honest when answering... "Sorry sir, but Maxis is the one who decides how many stocks they'll be giving out, and we have no idea how many they'll be giving to us. We have exceeded 100 applicants who deposited at our store. If the supply is more than the demand, that won't be a problem. Otherwise, I'm afraid it's beyond our control." He then asked when I pre-booked the i3GS. I told him I deposited the amount on the 23rd. He sighed on the phone, and I wasn't very pleased... "It's risky for booking it later than the 20th, but nonetheless, please wait for our call when your iPhones becomes available for pick up, but we don't know when this will be." Conclusion, Anyone who booked around the day like I did, well, tough luck |

What the hell is wrong with waiting for just 1 week, and just 1 more day?
Go and play counter strike if you find the time is too long for your waiting. I trust it's a worldwide shortage, why would the singaporeans, dubbed as the world most efficient people, are still facing a shortage problem? There's nothing Maxis can do, there's nothing MEPs can do, there's NOTHING Machines can do. So way to go, Phil Schiller, I trust you have a perfect marketing strategy. Maxis asked you to pay the deposit to prevent consumers from abusing the booking tool. I honour that, seeing that without the RM200 deposit, the situation would have been more catastrophic.
Maxis has already informed you all, there's a delay in their stocks, so you can do not but wait. Blaming Maxis would not help. Suing them would not help. And ranting here in the forum would NOT HELP. So please, stop. It's aggressing a lot of forumers including me to find so much rantings. Shit happens, and it always happens in this country. |

QUOTE(magicwizard @ Aug 1 2009, 12:24 AM) hi guys, I received no such information about switching plans from them (Machines 1U) other than the stocks have been delayed. Care to elaborate what they told you? I'm sticking with prepaid plan, darn them if I have to commit myself to contracts because I'm only here in Malaysia for the next 2 months and then away.i read that those we chose to collect form machines (mine is machines one utama, 32GB White) were asked to switch plan first. Now that Machines 1U have stocks, that's good news, though I'm worried I couldn't get mine from the first batch as I deposited on the 23rd july. That's kinda late, I presumed you guys who got the phone from Machines 1U booked it rather early?
Anyway, how was the queue over there? |

QUOTE(lesliechan19 @ Aug 1 2009, 09:37 PM) better call 123 to check ur booking status 10 Hours?! That's ridiculously long for any of todays electronic devices. I still prefer the old fashion method - play with your phone until it drains all power and then charge it.Added on August 1, 2009, 9:39 pma stupid question asking here, how to i have to charge my i3gs battery when i recieve it? 10 hours? I have another question. I recently switch to gmail and I've used my gmail account to pre-booked my iphone 3gs. So far, there isn't a single junk mail received (i'm quite happy about it), but what I'm afraid is whether it will trash out the email sent by Maxis saying my iphone is ready for pick-up. Any gmail user can shed some light here? This post has been edited by HuorEarfalas: Aug 1 2009, 09:45 PM |

Even if no one comes and pick it up on the collection day, the phones should be reserved for the next 14 days from collection date. After that, the phones will be available for anyone who pre-booked and have not gotten theirs or walk-in. Perhaps someone had mistaken the some pre-booked customers as walk in customers.
By right, they should not be doing walk-in as of now, since it hasn't pass 14 days after launch. If I'd found Machines 1U serving walk-in customers with an iphone available to them, I'd storm in the store with a good lawyer, accusing them for dishonouring the agreement. |

Walk-in and booked it is fine, but walking in and then got an iphone 3gs immediately is just pure prejudice. Be just, most of us paid RM200 deposit so that we can be assured that our unit will be reserved for us and then we can pick it up when it becomes available.
@azim You can book it now from either Maxis stores, MEP or APR. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait for the 2nd batch, which no one knows when that's going to arrive. |

QUOTE(johnliew @ Aug 1 2009, 11:04 PM) Hi all, Really? Wow, kudos to all fellows of Machines. Apple made a good choice making them an Apple Authorised Reseller. As you guys noticed this thread has been rather quiet (comparatively), because I believe all the first batch pre-bookers have already received their 32GB iPhone3GSes, like me. I'm hope that the barrage of complaints that everyone here did to 123, Facebook complaints finally paid off. As for me, I got a call at 12:30pm to tell me to schedule a pick up time, which I picked 3:30pm. By 4:45pm, I walked out of Machines @ 1U with my 32GB Black. Thanks Machines for prompt action and professional service! They had been up all night last night waiting for shipment to arrive and sort out the bookings. I was told Machines has to go to Maxis's warehouse and "hijack" the stock themselves, coz they sick and tired of waiting for Maxis to dispatch them. Then it was distributed overnight to all Machines outlets. Another bravo to hard working, good spirited guys at Machines! Now given the information, this whole stock being available thing seems interesting. Do you remember when you paid your deposit so I could judge my chance whether I'm able to pick mine up already. |

QUOTE(shagalot @ Aug 3 2009, 05:26 AM) I got mine from Queensbay and I pre-book... It's hardly to do with the OS memory capacity itself. By the way, I notice I only got 29.xGb.... Those who bought 32G also get 29GB? I wonder where the 2.xG goes where? For humans, we perceive 1GB as equal to 1000MB. For hardwares, they perceive 1GiB (traditionally known as 1GB to humans) as equal to 1024MB. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byte#Unit_sym...or_abbreviation I ran through a forum and one member gave a good explanation. Take 32GB. In decimal count, it's 32,000,000,000 bytes to us humans, assuming that 1KB = 1000 Bytes. Now if we take 1KB = 1024 Bytes, then 1GB = 1024*1024*1024 Bytes = 1,073,741,824 Bytes. Divide 32,000,000,000 Bytes by 1,073,741,824 Bytes, we get 29.8GB, which is what shown in your iPhone settings. |

Both Machines or Maxis did not email, contact or sms me about the delay of the iPhone. Is that good news or bad? I phoned Machines 1U last sunday and they said they're clearing out stocks for those who prebooked from 18th to 21st. 22nd to 24th will be this week. They assured me they'll phone me today, just don't know when. Don't wanna put my hopes too high, optimism will lead to greater disappointment.

QUOTE(maryjane9996 @ Aug 4 2009, 04:02 PM) u misinterpret my statement.i mean cheaper if we buy from overseas. 32G for USD399=MYR1400. You may also need to know that the ones sold in America is locked to AT&T. Plug in any other SIM cards and your iPhone will not work. iPhones sold in certain countries, Malaysia included, are officially unlocked. i think we need to sign a contract. iPhones sold in America are required to be unlocked with a 3rd party software, but that will void your warranty. I found an officially unlocked iPhone in UK before, it cost a lot more than what's sold here. |
