It's because they have the guts to order more units so as not to disappoint their walk-in impulse buying customers.

Both Machines or Maxis did not email, contact or sms me about the delay of the iPhone. Is that good news or bad? I phoned Machines 1U last sunday and they said they're clearing out stocks for those who prebooked from 18th to 21st. 22nd to 24th will be this week. They assured me they'll phone me today, just don't know when. Don't wanna put my hopes too high, optimism will lead to greater disappointment.

At least they did not lie to you. Follow story below.

"Hi, I made a pre-payment booking for an iPhone 3GS at your store on the 23rd and I called last Sunday and one of the staff assured my he'll call me today the latest. So far I have not gotten any calls from him. Can I know what's the situation?"

"Which model did you order?"

"32GB black"

"Come tmr and collect it"

Though I smell something fishy.

Don't worry. At first I thought it was fishy too but ended up a not-so-frustrated-half-happy i3GS owner.

I call up MACHINES 1U this morning to check on my iPhone 32gb Black availability. They ask me to leave my name and contact number and they will call be back. Shortly after 15 minutes, they call me back and say your iPhone is ready to be collect, please come at around 3-4pm. I was so shocked and say okay then hang up.

Thinking back again, I thought it wasn't promising and I call up again to double check my detail, especially on phone specification. That guy say yes your phone is right here with me now don't worry. I asked if I could collect on the next morning, he say not guarantee if the phone will still be there.

Went to MACHINES 1U sharp at 3pm. Walk in without any receipt (forgot). Just go to the counter and give my name. iPhone was brought out, some computer data keying is done, hand me MACHINES member card + RM20 preloaded, and pass me the iPhone just like that. Total duration less than 10 minutes.

I am a Prepaid buyer which prebooked my iPhone on the 18th of July. Collection date was suppose to be the 31st of July.

Actually ... as per what I know... Machines 1U already have all the stock on hand (stock came in on 1st August morning). They are just calling up the customers one-by-one since it takes some time to process the documents and activate each iPhone (don't really want a huge crowd at the shops now do we?).

So just sit tight and wait for the call smile.gif

But it's seems everyone had not get their free data yet as well so I need to get in line and wait sad.gif

Please research before you're really into something, then you'll make your purchase worth while.

Try Settings:General:Reset:Reset Network Settings and see if that helps.

@blacktrix,
I never heard about a 5th August date. Most forummers here are reporting 18th August. And to make U feel better, I'm giving up my i3GS tomorrow *siGh*

Guys, u all cant blame for this, iPhone 3GS now high demand for whole world, not only Malaysia. We consider lucky if look toward Taiwan... They suppose launch iPhone 3gs by 1 august, and now force to delay 2 more weeks. Our country at least still can satisfied some rather than 0. Even you are pre booking and you are the luckily 1,you also have to wait. Why? because you are choosing Apple iPhone!
*
If we cant blame Maxis, who to blame for the delay?
I believe Maxis already know the problem of lack of stocks around the world but why are they still letting people pre order freely? They should set it to maybe first 3000 prebook units and close prebooking after that. Instead of letting every tom d*** and harry book and in the end tell us they do not have stock even for the early bookers.

I even spoke to the manager incharged on costomer service for the iPhone department and he said he will get back to me on the 1st but till today, I have still not gotten a single call from him. I called costomer service 2 days ago and requested to talk to him. They say he's not on shift and will drop him an email and ask him to return my call. Still nothing. Plus, he said I will be getting my unit before the 4th. I did not get anything. No iPhone, no phonecalls from him.

This is the 2nd time Maxis is promising me a unit. And till today, I've not gotten any phone calls from anybody at all.

Tell me who to blame.

@Siilver,
Haven't U learnt Maxis' words and promises aren't good enough unless it's coming right from the top?! It looks like ur just going to have to wait like the rest of us.

@teikwing,
Act it was Maxis who made the decision due to stock unavailability. Cousin goes back to Germany on the 8th so he has no choice but to take my unit first. Am seeing them again for family dinner tomorrow night so I told him I'll pass him the phone then - which means, I have from now till tomorrow to restore the phone back to its original state - perhaps I should even try my hand at jailbreaking tonight?! *wink wink*

I am however not as kan cheong as the rest to get an i3GS - perhaps it's cause I've oredi been using it so it's not like a matter of life and death kinda thing though admittedly this is going to cause a bit of inconvenience but I'll live with it biggrin.gif

approx. 14 days without it (assuming Maxis fulfills its Aug 18th promise), that's quite a number of days with 'inconvenience'. biggrin.gif but yeah, it isn't a matter of life & death, c'mon, it's still just a phone with tons of awesome features.

yeah you should try jailbreaking. there's these helpful guides available in the pinned threads. if anything goes wrong, just pass your phone to bro DG. tongue.gif

for me, it's not that much on getting the phone ASAP. I already waited for this phone to arrive since they announce it like years ago...lol..

It's more like the promises made by maxis and then did not honour it. Worst is when they collect a NON-refundable deposit promising we will SURE get it when it arrive. This is very unethical thing to do. If they can't deliver what they promised, they shouldn't have collected deposit.
