I had a modded PS2 for quite long and although I recently bought a PS3, I still play a lot with it. However, in my new LCD Philips PFL5403s the picture look horrible, much worse than my previous CRT. So, I searched here and there and found out that the solution is to get a PS2 component cable, which I just did yesterday. But when I connect it there is almost no picture at all. There are some glimpses of the game display for fraction of a second but it ends up with the TV saying to signal at all. It tries to show 480i signal, which shows in the TV display, but fails to do so. I've checked by LCD manual where it says that it's capable of showing 480i in both HD and SD signal. I really dont know what to do with it anymore. I would really appreciate if soeone could shed some light into my problem.

P.S. I know that the cable is fine cause I've tested it with the PS3.

You have to set your PS2 to output Component to get proper display if it's already set to RGB.

What you do is use composite cables with the HDTV,and go to the PS2 Main Menu(boot it without a disc,go into options mode)
Then set component settings to RGB.

Now go back to component cables, and you are ready to rock.

PSOne/PS1 do not support component output, RGB is the best for them

Not quite true.. lots of PS1 games run on 240p tongue.gif But of course most displays out there only display as 480i

Oh and you can transfer 240p/480i through component no problem at all, just need the supported output which only happen at the beginning of the PS2/XBox/GC era. I'm looking to mod my Neo Geo to output component, can't find the right video encoder
