A dialog between a creation believer ( C) and an evolution believer (E) on the existence of human life. It is very long and only subset are listed, extracted from popular science book. The two character C and E are entirely fiction and any similarity with real life characters are purely coincidental.

C: Human being is infused with some sort of essence or soul that brings them alive, the soul is a gift by the supreme being
E: I beg to differ, when all organs in a few months baby developed inside a mother, baby start to have consciousness, which means the sum of the whole (all organs) is greater then it individual part when they are alone, a new behavior (consciousness) developed when this condition achieved. In this context, no need soul infusion idea in it
E: Let's say the soul does exists, when it is injected to a baby by the supreme being? Immediately when the sperm and the egg combined? When it is in embryo state? 5 months? Or nine months right away after being delivered by the doctor?

C: I can't answer you this question on behalf of the supreme being, he works in mysterious ways
E: What about the gender of a baby, does he/she defined by the supreme being?
C: Again, not a question that I could answer. However, I believe if he wanted a male/female baby, he could make it happened. That is why many couples praying for the gender they wish for sometime.
E: Do they get what they wished for?
C: Yes, sometimes.
E: What if the prayer did not get answered?
C: It is god willing
E: To me, I believe in chromosome structure X and Y. The gender is an outcome of the "best swimmer", which is part of the natural selection, the strongest and the one with the ability to adapt survives. We are all a champion in one way looking at it.
C: No issue with that, I believe in this part of science too
E: What about twins, some mothers carry 7 babies in one goal, is it part of the supreme being's plan too?
C: We are bounded by our limited view on the universe. We can no way comprehend god will and plan which is greater and more intelligent than us
E: I believe in biology mitosis process. Mitosis is the process by which a eukaryotic cell separates the chromosomes in its cell nucleus into two identical sets in two daughter nuclei. Under certain condition where environment permits, it sometimes split into 2, 3 .... 7 separate entities hence the reasons for twins or 7 babies. Again, as part of the natural selection, some of the baby could survive, some may not. In your opinion, why do you think they were created and then could not survive later?
C: I am sure they will be judged and rewarded accordingly when their time comes.
E: Since this is a science tread, let's put down the religion reward and punishment belief aside.
.
.
.
C: It takes you greater faith and belief to agree that human being is formed as part of natural selection and evolution, then it is a creation by the creator.
E: Again, I beg to differ, it takes me easier to accept that life is part of the nature and a lot of misery and beauty of existence can be slowly comprehensible when we perform more dialogs with the nature via science discovery.

QUOTE(Crandford @ Oct 26 2009, 03:25 PM)
hey all.. interesting discussion..

I've came across a really good site recently about this creationist vs evolutionist theory..
Either side you're on, being in this debate calls for an open mind and an open heart..

anyway, those who are serious about knowing more,

check out this site: HERE

or just start with this article (it was this article that caught my attention): HERE

Just a lil background knowledge, I'm a bio major (2nd year) and I'm very interested in pursuing knowledge and be very sure about the truth. I think in the end, it comes down to what we want to accept as the truth.

Hi, welcome on board. smile.gif

From your statement, below:

Just a lil background knowledge, I'm a bio major (2nd year) and I'm very interested in pursuing knowledge and be very sure about the truth. I think in the end, it comes down to what we want to accept as the truth.

Are you saying truth is relative depending on what one want to accept?

What is your opinion on absolutism (absolute truth).
