There is module which can be added on to make the steering button work. Basically it takes the steering control wires and connect to this module. The module will then take the signal of the buttons and convert it into a wireless signal eg infra red, radio freq etc and send to player. The player would need to have remote contro function for this to work.

There is a loud thud/knocking sound when I u turn (to the right). I think this is a common problem with 05/06 Gen 2. I just ignore the problem but now the sound is getting louder and occur even when I accelerate and turn to the right , when previously I need to make u Turn to simulate the problem. Now I can even feel a jerk in the front left suspension together with the noise. The mechanic have checked the CV and absorber but said that those parts are OK. What else could be causing the noise ? Could it be the absorber mounting ? Any forummers have experienced the problem , can you advise. thks

Its not the CV/driveshaft or any of the connecting rods because the mechanic tried to move/shake those paarts but no sound. can the rubber cups/mounting be replaced separately.

My Gen 2 already 93,000 km, 3 years. Service all done within interval at Proton authorised service because I took up the Extended Warranty program ( 5 yrs or 175k km warranty). The servicing cost is high when compared to outside. Eg the Shell synthetic charged at RM 209 but outside only cost RM 139. Was surpised that you can use own engine oil, Bardahl because the SC do not allow outside parts when servicing under warranty.
You were asking about power steering oil change, mine done for first time at the 90k km service cost abt RM 110 (RM68 for oil and balance is the labour cost). They use a draining/refill for this.

I think I posted before on the knocking sound when turning left coming from the frt left. The sound became louder and louder till I decided to have it repaired (before that the SC just tightend the suspension area and struts but prob persisted).
So as suspected, the spring 'rosak'?! Anyway got the frt left spring replaced, the frt 2 struts was replaced as well since the SC advised, and since its already 95k km, I just agreed even though the struts are working properly. Anyway, total damage RM 580 all in. All part prices at this SC is as per the online part centre prices - ie much higher.
The frt absorbers feels softer now and I actually like it. Body roll is more pronouced and cornering on uneven road surfaces do not feel as sable as before but the more comfortable ride more than makes up for it.
Like to ask who are the OEM for the struts and noticed on the bill that the strut is for non ABS whereas mine is with ABS. The SC said the diff is just a bracket (probably to hold the ABS wires). Any problems/danger if fitted with this non abs type strut?

QUOTE(wandzul @ Oct 18 2010, 07:15 PM) bro is it same design with old clockspring or revised version I did not see the replacement process, so do not know new or old version. However, the autocruise stalk looks exactly the same as previous - just newer.

QUOTE(Conroe @ Oct 22 2010, 03:15 AM) Need ur car's registration card's copy. Btw,my engine started to make 'tet tet tet" noise. The more i accelerate the more noise it produces but after awhile the noise will go away.Brot to mech and he said sumtin "shim" problem. Been using semi synt 10/40 and now he advised to try mineral oil and see if the noise still there. tan sri shazmn, any advise? In my case, I did not bring Reg Card, just service book. The SC already have database of all vehicles involved by way of REg no. or Chassis no. If either no. exist in their system, they will proceed. But most smalller SC have limited clock spring replacement. Biggr ones like Glenmarie (where I went) and COE have stocks but anyhow, call first to book appt and check availability.

QUOTE(edi78 @ Nov 3 2010, 10:29 AM) hi all..just asking, anybody can guide me to dissamble dahsboard center console n gear console???i've tried few time but failed bcoz affraid if anything will be broken or damage..hehehee... I've already unscrew 2 screw under the radio but nothing seem to loose..really appreciate if someone can help me... GEN 2 automatic 1.6...thank you.. When I did audio upgrade, I noticed the radio console area is very difficult to work on. The installer was prying and pulling.definitely not as simple as just unscrew and drop out or pull out. There are quite a few areas where its secured by just plastic tabs. Strongly advise you go to the acc. shop. The gear console seem a little easier. Just pull out the plastic cover at the base and figure out from there.
