hello..
my first time here..
i own a gen-2 cps..
now almost hit 40000km.. (2yrs already)
so i need some advice...
do i need to change the battery? any brand?
i also need to change the tyres... any brand?
i used bardahl for engine oil. may stick to it.
the last time the mechanic told me to change the power steering oil (at 35k service), but cudnt do anything due to budget constraint (RM250.. betui ka?)
what else shud i change? coz i dun have any manual with me since i first got the car.

tq in advance.

Hmmm..is it really that expensive? I did my so called 20,000KM major service which an told is the same service for 40,000KM @ RM500++ only. It includes all the lubricants being changed including coolant. hmm.gif
Regarding battery, if u have the extra cash, why not..since it's already 2 year old. While tyres, I will change it when it's bald or after 4 years.. tongue.gif

My Gen 2 already 93,000 km, 3 years. Service all done within interval at Proton authorised service because I took up the Extended Warranty program ( 5 yrs or 175k km warranty). The servicing cost is high when compared to outside. Eg the Shell synthetic charged at RM 209 but outside only cost RM 139. Was surpised that you can use own engine oil, Bardahl because the SC do not allow outside parts when servicing under warranty.

You were asking about power steering oil change, mine done for first time at the 90k km service cost abt RM 110 (RM68 for oil and balance is the labour cost). They use a draining/refill for this.

Geng,
This morning my radio can't turned ON... when i reached my office, the radio still can't be turned ON.. but after i turn off and restart the engine..it came back to life(can ON)!!!

Other symptoms, when i click the volume button(to decrease volume) on the steering, it become mute(rather than decrease the volume)..
Is it wiring, fuse, or battery prob??

Car Details : 1.6 Auto : 2 1/2 yrs : 44K km : Never change the battery yet. (Next service on 45K km)

Terima kaseyh ~

which part cant be changed to aftermarket depends on the warranty. as proton haven't manufactured (or at least re-brand) any lube oil, it's up to the customer to choose which oil they want to use based on proton's recommendation (refer to manual)... however, some SC might want their customer to use their choice of lube oil to gain extra profit. then it become "depends on SC" which lube oil you need to use...

however, I would advice to stay away from such SC that dont allow us to use our own oil... though they can recommend us or advice us, i guess it's up to us to use which oil since Proton never restrict what oil brand we have to use for our car with their warranty...

certain parts change might affect the warranty, but which brand of oil has never been an issue... unless u're using way too far of a grade from recommendation...

Honk can work? If cannot, maybe it is the clockspring?
or maybe it is the battery (tear-and-wear and become weak)?
p/s: ramadan soon, everyone "saving money" . laugh.gif

(If yes and) if I get the black base headlamp from CS edition, can plug and play on the ori -no CPS gen2 (first batch edition)?

Just wanna ask about Gen2 Campro (not CPS) FC....

1. How much for Full Tank
2. How far u can go for City drive / long distance drive??
3. Is the FC differ to CPS version? which better?

I'm thinking to buy either Used Gen2 year 2006(auto) or Used 1.3 Myvi SE year 2006(auto)... any advise/suggestion/comment from Gen2 owner here??

You maybe correct.. after further reading.. found this :
QUOTE
The symptom before Clockspring die is
1. horn activate automatically during the steering wheel turn to right or left.
2. the audio buttons on the steering were not function correctly.
3. last is Scratch sound come from steering during turn is louder day by day.

I'm not facing the no 1 symptom yet.. but surely the other 2...
Last time when i checked at PSC mutiara damansara, they want to charge me RM1K ++ to change the steering rack all together..
deymn!

Now maybe will ask them to check for the clockspring.. hopefully the price is better..

Thanks Dovienya!

Dont bother changing the steering rack in PSC. If you go spare part shop, you'll know why I say dont bother wink.gif.
The first sympton only happen when it dies. As long as it hasnt die, it wont happen.

The (actual) first sympton is how old is your car? Clockspring have a lifespan of 4years. Mine last until the 5th year before it does. Changing it in PCS cost me 400$++ (if not mistaken).
