@elfreakz: oh yeah. Haha. Do you prefer clumping litter or the crystal silica? been switching alot because of my mother dry.gif
since i have many cats so the cheapest is clay type. there's a shop selling 25kg for RM60. so it like :

rm2.4 = 1kg
rm12 = 5kg / 5L
rm24 = 10kg / 10L

the brand is kitty cat.. last time they selling it in a blue box type...

---

last time i used cystal.. i dont really like it.. its expensive stuff if u have multi cat in the house...

i also try OKO Plus.. not bad but expensive aswell.

got 3 kitten, i dont think the mother is using them.
how many weeks before i need to change the sand to a new one?
im also using the clay type me thinks, but the cheap one
*
there are 2 types of clay sand...

1. the clump - when they pee the sand turn to be hard.
2. non clumping - when they pee, the color change but not clump/hard.

type 1 (the clump) u don't really have to change it... since it is clump, u just scoop the poo and the pee which is hard... then refill some..

type 2(non clump) - this is madness.. very hard to clean since the pee will mix with the clean clay.. so u need to throw most or everything and change a new one.

u do not have to pour the whole bag into the litter box.. for 3 kittens, 5cm height of clay should be enough.. so when u scoop and clean maybe decrease abit, then add abit again.

if you concern about the smell, so you need to clean more times a day.

if you have high litter box and you using CLUMP clay ... u can pour 2/4 of the bag.. which is good too.. but if the kitten is in cage, be aware that they will play with the clay tongue.gif you end up wasting most of it cos it will come out from the box .

mine is the clumping. and whenever i scoop out the poo
i just break apart the hard one and mix it with the part that is dry.
gotta buy them a new one tomorrow.

yeah they do play with the sand and it will be all over the place.
at first, one of them even try to eat the sand laugh.gif

thanks alot mr elf
*
ya that clump break out is normal too... but still better than the one that is not clumping at all..

what u can do.. if the pee is on the right side, share or move your litter box to the left side.. so the sand go to the left, and leave the clump pee on the right, then you scoop it...

QUOTE(Mimzy @ Dec 26 2009, 01:39 AM)
Halo and Marry Xmas for those who's celebrating!
i wanna know about frontline spray.this is my first experience.
my cat just started the fleas in about these two months or less.
she had a quite excessive fleas before, and got spot on combo around april-jun/july this year.

so last week i just went to the pet shop to get the fronline spray, since she had just a mile fleas (even if i bring her to the vet they wouldn't do much.)

the worker (that had experience using it) told me if want to jimat but still effective, just use on the 8 spots that the cat can't reach/lick.
i did (although im not sure where's the 8 spots are, hehe),but this week i notice she still keep on scratching but not so crazy like before.

so can i spray it again?since it was a little spray on each spot, maybe can i spray every week or two???and i dunno how to use the 'Approximately 1 or 2 pumps per pound of animal's body weight' concept.

btw,i've noticed after the spot on and the spray she'll be like she has been sedated, stay still and sleepy.why?
*
If your cat in staying both in and out door.. your war with the fleas will never end.

If you have indoor cat all the time... please clean your house especially the carpet with vacuum or maybe wash it. fleas from cat can also lay eggs on things like that and later jump back to your cat. they are pretty smart...

personally, if you are fighting for fleas since april/jun/july, and until december the fleas still there.. you need to ring the red alert bell... i can see the fleas is making your home n cat "a home sweet home" eheheh.... SPRAY is the fastest way to kill the fight on the spot.

When you are working with SPRAY fronline... do it somewhere empty, the place that has no carpet... maybe like dry bathroom...

Why? ofcourse like i said just now, fleas are smart, they can smell poison, they will jump and run away. if u r doing this job on your beautiful home, they will hide on your carpet and even sofa, save their life.

So, do it on empty floor...

spraying frontline is easy, but all cats hate it... they hate the spray sound... they hate the wet stuff... they even hate the smell of it...

i always advice to spray start from around neck.. spray the neck in circle... since you CANNOT spray the face.. what you can do is... spray it on your hand, and wipe it under the chin and above head. NOT FACE!... then spray abit on your hand and wipe it around the "cuping teling" and near the ears (the place that always look botak near the ears)..

then only you spay the whole body... as long as all place wet & sticky mean you are done...

you need 2 person to do this spraying job. one holding and one spraying. PLEASE NOTE, TO TRIM THE CAT NAILS FIRST... YOU MIGHT NOT WANT THE CAT SCRATH YOU tongue.gif and you really need to do it fast...

after spray, massage the cat body, so the frontline soak into the fur (especially long hair) and skin... long hair need more frontline than short hair.

you can bath your cat with medicated fleas shampoo after 48 hours. I prefer to cage my cat after spraying the frontline...

cats hate frontline... he will be mad, angry and hate everything thats why he's sleeping and moody... you even see the saliva come out, thats the reaction from frontline when the cat lick it.... That is now cat protect themself from poison stuff... the saliva will drop out with the poison in the body... don't worry. as long as you don't spray the face... and did not finish 1 bottle for cat then its ok tongue.gif

Spot on is for protection... after bath.. you can put it at the back of the neck... always check your cat to see if there's fleas or not... if there's small number of fleas, frequent bath your cat. dont worry about the spot on at the back of the neck... cos within 24 hours, that liquid will get into the skin...

If you have 2 or more cats in the house, YOU NEED TO DO THE FRONTLINE JOB TO ALL OF THEM IN ONE TIME... do not do one by one... cos it wont work... you do it on cat A... then later cat A meet and play with Cat B... Cat A will still get fleas from Cat B... so better do all in one time, although u say other cat has no fleas.. you will never know smile.gif

good luck!

Thx for the prompt reply. I do have a kitten actually, a female one. It's very naughty right now but all kittens are at this age I think. And I do notice that some breeds have very good personalities. But cats have a mind of their own, don't they. Smart creatures  smile.gif
*
talking about breeds, the source sometimes are not accurate. why? it is still rely on genetics background of the parents. just like human. They are good, they are bad.. again why? because different generation different behavior. and some more very less breeder are good in breeding. mistake in choosing male + female will create different behavior kittens. that's why proper breeding is hard. most breeder nowadays just simply produce new kitten base on the look but not personalities. it may not be 100% accurate.

Hey people,
need help!
what should i do???
my almost 2years old cat just gave birth for the 2nd time to one and only kitten again! the last time the kitten survive but this time the kitten didnt sad.gif
may i know what should i do cause now im thinking, what will happen to her milk if there is no kitten that will drink it?
*
when the kitten died? during labor? or few hours? or few days?

if during labor, there are a few possibility... 1. it waited too long for the mother to push the kitten out, kitten drowning. 2. died inside so the mother just push a dead kitten. 3. kitten wait too long for mother to clean and open the jelly sack attach on the kitten body which make the kitten can't breath.

sorry to hear about your lost.

if the kitten died because the mother do not want to feed him.. then things get serious. female cats do get something like breast problem.. in cat term, known as mastitis and feline mammary tumors.

as for your cat... In such situation, the milk should be drained out otherwise your cat will feel uncomfortable. Your cat will become lazy for short period of time and as the milk dried-up she will be perfectly fine. However you can contact vet if you find swelling around her breast to avoid the breast problem i mention above. IF your cat do have this sickness or disease or tumor... vet will advice you to spay your female cat to avoid death.

got that, the kitten died during labour, ive search on the internet on possible ways to make sure its breathing but ive failed. and fyi the leg came out first when my cat was giving birth.

btw how long will the cat stop searching for her kitten? well my cat been searching for her kitten and even sniffing around the towel that we used to covered her kitten's body before we buried it. its heartwrenching to watch.

thank you for the information smile.gif

ya.. legs first always problem... it suppose to be head first .. if the mother is not that strong, legs first will end up with death.. sorry to hear that. she will be ok soon... don't worry smile.gif play with her, give her favorite food, and always be with her smile.gif

Hello cat lovers,

This is actually my cat and just got her a week ago. The tauke claims that this is a persian-siamese breed. Just wondering what do you guys think. Is it really a mix of those or just a normal siamese?
**Sorry for the low quality.**
*
it can be mix with any type of cat, which mostly DLH who are colorpoint (cream-ish).. so cannot pin point what kind of mix. shop normally use the pedigree breed name to attract customer. Like WOW persion.. wow siamese...

but rm500 worth for the price.. i know some people spending thousand of RM, and lastly they found out it was DLH tongue.gif kena tipu sudah ehehhe

i alrdy separate it..i put kitten food in da cage..if she hungry..she meow 2 me..tot her food finish di..wen i go 2 kitchen..her food still in da bowl.. sweat.gif

Just let the mother eating the kitten food together with her kittens... do you know what, female cat after birth need alot of protein to cover everything they loose? yes its true.. the mother have spend time eating to feed the kitten inside, and then nursing, she need alot of protein and fat (from kitten food) for herself to build up her body. and kitten sometimes still milking from mother when they are together until the mother rejected them to suck the nipples.

So for your case, it is good if the mother eat kitten food for this time for her body. she need lots of energy to grow back.

QUOTE(Juneleemk @ Mar 9 2010, 03:36 PM)
hello all,

found a mother cat nursing 4 newborn kittens in a corner of my car porch. kitten eyes not opened yet.

Would like to know whether mother and kittens will go away on their own when they get older or do I have to send them away somewhere?

If they are running around the porch, scared will accidentally run over them with my car.

Contemplating keeping one but I work long hours and don't know much about keeping a cat...had a dog before though
*
get them a big box.. like TV box.. the bigger the better.. new born kitten hardly move.. but when they start learning to walk.. they do become blind walker ehehe...

as for mother, if she feel the area is not safe for her kittens.. she WILL move the kittens to other places.

box will avoid the kitten from going or moving somewhere else when mama is not around.

QUOTE(idunnolol @ Aug 24 2011, 11:50 AM)
i just found the body of my cat today morning, FML. this is the 2nd time i need to bury my cat.

Just one question, i notice 3 cats who's death ranged in this 3 month (april - today) , non of them had visible wounds and no blood bleed.

Could anyone provide an insight on why these cats died with no apparent reason?
*
well first you need to check and see the history of your cat...

- buy? adopt? long hair? short hair? age - kitten, adult, senior? are they siblings or different family?
- have you ever bring them to the vet for vaccine, deworm, medical check up?
- what do they eat? what is their diet?
- are they outdoor cat? or just indoor? or maybe both in and out.
- if outdoor, does your neighbor OK with cat? trust be human do anything to get rid of something they dont like.. i know neighbor poison cat by giving them food and mixing with poison for rats... believe it or not, its happen in this world with cruelty.

possibility poison. it can be from insect or another small animal which they play or bite or even eat.

also possibility, 1 cat got infection and others get it too... sometimes you can't tell or see if the cat is sick.. illness like flu fever may get from one cat to another cat.

always remember.. CATS ARE GOOD IN HIDING THEIR SICKNESS... they look OK but sometimes they don't... if you really pay attention to them, you can see the changes in them from day to day.

so the only best way to know is to meet your vet... if there's still cat in your care... tell the vet that 3 cats died every following month. perhaps you need to keep your cat indoor if they are going outside.. just to see if they are still alive being indoor.

good luck! smile.gif
