Hi, I've requested a replacement of my HLB Visa card few months ago, but they want to charge RM50 so I just ignore, the card has some cracks but still usable..
*
Have you tried to request for waiver of replacement fee? I lost my HLB cc 2 years back and the bank gave me a replacement card without charging any fee, only after I called and requested for waiver.

I think the RM50 replacement fee is compulsory. But however maybe depends on how you talk to the CC company management. Try to be sound serious and make police report. Maybe can get the refund or RM50 fees waived. Or maybe it just depend on that guy's mood that day la.
*
I wonder how you sound like or how the CS staff respond when they hear your voice? brows.gif Just kidding!

Anyhow, try to be as rational as possible while talking to CS staff. They may just waive the fee if you have a good track record with the bank. smile.gif

if i knew this trick earlier I'll try, but I'm going to terminate the HLB card anyway, no point trying now :-)
*
If you aren't happy with the cc/bank, just cancel it, as there are many other good CCs in the market await you. Do make sure you redeem something before you terminate it.

Btw, there is no good promotion from HLB after the 5% cash back promotion. The recent "kids eat for free" programme doesn't sound attractive.

while for the same bank, from saving account pay to credit card account, it's immediate effect, even i pay 1 day late for Public bank, they did not charges me late payment.
*
It depends on bank's policies. Some banks are very strict on late payment. Some good examples are CIMB and Ambank.

It's only a joke! biggrin.gif Do you think I'll tell you my CL if you inform me of your CL? It should remain my privacy then! tongue.gif Btw, only my loved ones know my CL so far. brows.gif

QUOTE(taxpayer @ Jul 16 2009, 08:43 PM)
I cant believe that CIMB and SCB are allowing people to apply for Visa Infinite cards(higher than platinum). This card is usually given to private bank customers only by invitation. You have to deposit a min of 1 mil before u can become a private bank customer anyway. Their requirement is a bit on the low side as well.
*
SCB Visa Infinite was only by invitation last time. It is no longer "extremely exclusive" now as it is open to public. I did receive call from an SCB cc staff promoting this product to me some 2 weeks ago.

Don't give up. It was your 1st ever cc application anyway. You may try to apply through other banks with lower requirements, such as DA/CIMB, if you are qualified.

Wah, very efficient one week already get letter. Call them and ask and maybe you'll get an answer. Like winner mentioned, go apply for other cards. Or if you bank with HLB, they do issue card with one of their accounts (smartlink or something like that).
*
Yes, Alliance has improved a lot now. Early last week, I requested the bank to replace my Younique with Plat instead, as I wanna get 2x points for overseas transactions. And I received the cc 1 week later. But its efficiency is still a far cry if compared to Citi. Give them some time.

QUOTE(Michael_G @ Jul 16 2009, 10:28 PM)
hurm wondering why im not qualify to apply it le.. my salary over RM18k le..
if i can back to the person that handle me that day do u think she can answer why i cant get my card..?? HLB ah? i got HLB acc but no $$ de tongue.gif any other cards for lower qualification?
*
Well, you have to accept it. And now, you may consider other banks offering cash rebate. If I am mistaken, cash rebate and FOC are your main requirements. You may try to apply for DA/CIMB, as they recently increase the cash back rate and participating merchants for specific days. Above all, it's quite easy to be approved if you are a degree holder.

@winner,
I gave U indication meh a few days ago?! Mana ada?! Eh.. oK.. revealing CL is a no-no.  In that case, can I have your monthly income? biggrin.gif

@VeeJay,
winner doesn't want to reveal it is because he's got like RM200k CL on one card, RM90k on another and perhaps RM60k on another one.  The total combined CL he has is probably sufficient to pay for a bungalow in Rawang - unlike us, RM5k saje so that's why he a bit antsy lor tongue.gif
*
Hey hey hey...let me clarify. rolleyes.gif
1. Revealing monthly income = Exposing CL (vice versa)
2. Rawang? It's too far away for me! In the Klang Valley, anything more than 30km from KLCC is out of my radar screen. FYI, a bungalow in Rawang doesn't cost as much as a brand new superlink in Mutiara Damansara or Desa Parkcity.
3. RM200k CL? Mine is still a far cry...and I won't chase for it anyway.
4. I can't even afford the villa facing Valencia Golf Course which you bought lately. drool.gif

@vampbreak,
Unlike some forummers, I'm really not chasing after the status of the Black card hence makes no difference to me.  I did spend USD250k last year but I wasn't able to swipe everything I purchased hence it's not reflected in my CC statements tongue.gif

I rather be using my time to chase after either more $ or men! muAhaHAHah *cruel laugh*

So who's the 2nd Centurion holder here?!  He / She is certainly doing well to keep a low profile biggrin.gif
*
Nah…you are the one who always revealed your personal stuff in CC and Amex threads. I only remembered what you have said before. I can’t be penalised for having a good memory, right? Just kidding….hehehe biggrin.gif Anyway, we shall call it a day on this issue.

QUOTE(taxpayer @ Jul 17 2009, 02:19 PM)

It doesn't matter whether you are too young or not, the bank will give you approval so long as you meet the income eligibility. Good luck! tongue.gif

If you talk about benefits from petrol purchase purely, I think SCB Just1 stands out in the crowd, followed by DA/CIMB, Amex Gold cc, MBB Petronas and Alliance. Other banks also give rebates or extra points, but the promotion is only temporary.

i found my DA card, to exchange gift with point, need to pay for shipping...
while my another card, maybank, i exchange some last year, no need to pay any shipping..

please share, how about other bank credit card? need to pay shipping??
is DA abnormal, or maybank is too nice??
*
I had made redemption with HLB, Alliance and MBB before, no courier fee was charged. So far, only DA/CIMB charged me shipping fee.

Recently, my sister redeemed quite a big bag from HSBC and again, no courier charge was imposed.

QUOTE(WhiteWing @ Jul 21 2009, 01:05 PM)
Hi guys,I got some question now. I hope the people here can help me smile.gif notworthy.gif

My situation is like this. I did a cash withdraw on 2 bank. One is CIMB Bank and another one is Hong Leong Bank. I withdraw RM1k from both of them.

I do know that is the cash advance fee that I can absorb and I do ask some of my friend that do credit card.

I told them that I that I cash advance RM1k from 2 bank and I wanna clear the RM2k within the 20 days interest free. But they told me if I everytime also so discipline pay on time and don't let the bank earn any of my interest,he say the bank will recongize me a bad customer because always pay on time and don't let the bank earn any interest $$ and only earn the cash advance fee. So they all asked me don't always pay the full payment ontime. You must late 3 times or 4 times or pay half instead of full and let bank charge me abit then only bank will be happen.

I wanna know is it better to pay full payment on time or late and let the bank charge me ?

Any advice ?
*
First, all banks will like to have you as customer. From the moment you took cash advance from your cc, the bank had immediately charged you an interest of 18% per annum.

Second, all banks will also like your friend for sure. If your friend always doesn’t settle outstanding balance in full, the bank has no hesitation to charge him/her interest until the cc debt is fully settled.

This is the beauty (from banks’ perspective) and danger (from consumers’ perspective) of CCs. Nonetheless, some people only see the beauty side of CCs.

QUOTE(WhiteWing @ Jul 21 2009, 01:32 PM)
Is that really so high the interest rate ???  sad.gif  sad.gif , sometime happened on me and I don''t wanna go to loan shark so have to depend on bank ...
*
You'd better keep all your CCs away temporarily, and debit card or cash term is your best friend for the time being! rolleyes.gif

Well, thanks for your help winner ..
*
The interest rate @18% is per annum basis. So if you settle earlier, it will be less.

Hi..

For those who applied for the SCB JustOne CC, am wondering, did U get an SMS to tell U your CC application's approved?!

Why? You also join the club? You should get it earlier for entitlement of early bird rebate. But it's never too late now, as the 2%-5% rebate on ALL retail transactions (subject to RM600/annum) is simply irresistible! tongue.gif Btw, SCB sends SMS to inform you if your application is successful. biggrin.gif

I guess SCB will send SMS if your application is successful only. So, do expect to receive the cc within next couple of days.

Just now call the customer service, they say cannot apply one more cc, which mean you can only have one credit card.
You want a petronas cc, cancel islamic cc or if you want to apply islamic cc, cancel your extant pertonas cc.
I will cancel my islamic cc and go for petronas blush.gif

I also think it is a better option. smile.gif

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jul 22 2009, 08:32 AM)
AMEX MR no expiry date whereas DA rewards points do have expiry date.
AMEX you can get 5X MR for groceries at more places whereas DA only at Giant & Tesco.
AMEX 5X MR not a promotion but DA 2% for groceries until year end unless they extend it.
AMEX do not charge courier fees for redemption whereas DA charges courier fee for vouchers.
Just to add AMEX you also get 5X for book purchases.

If comparing AMES Gold CC vs DA MC for 2% rebate then go for AMEX Gold CC as DA don't give you reward points for petrol transactions.

To add, SCB JustOne beats AMEX Gold CC and DA if you pump petrol and shop at TESCO/Giant on Fridays only laugh.gif
*
Your points are solid and well-put. It makes me feel that I should get myself an Amex gold cc too, for petrol purchase on non-Fridays. tongue.gif

QUOTE(Shinichi @ Jul 22 2009, 09:06 AM)

Now I have more reasons to get the new MBB Amex Gold as it share CL with my existing MBB Petronas and the MR thingy seems good too. Only con I see is we cannot get MR and Treatpoints at the same time.
and for SCB JustOne, its out of my reach now.
*
If you are qualified for Amex gold, you might be able to get SCB Just1 too, as the income requirements aren't far away. Amex Gold @36k/annum vs Just1 Titanium @40k/annum.

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jul 22 2009, 12:49 PM)

QUOTE(Dannyl @ Jul 22 2009, 12:53 PM)
I've called and asked, 1 principal and 1 supp can combine the reward points and yet still can have individual max RM600 rebate.  But the thing I don't like is the statement cannot be separated and will be under the principal.  So decided to go for 2 principal.  Their office boy came to collect my photocopied IC and CC and let me sign some docs and my application is underway smile.gif
*
Somebody have mentioned that 1 principal can have up to 6 supp cards, and all cards will be carrying a max annual rebate of RM600 each. It is too good to be believed.

The RM50 rebate for the 1st 1000 early birds is still running? You'd better check your bill online when you receive your card later, as this card has been launched for nearly 3 months already.

I understand that you don't have a degree. In that case, it's better if you apply for CIMB instead of DA, because one of the important documents required by DA is degree cert.

It's a BAD deal! Last time HLB also practised this. They deducted part of your points for cash rebate. Some other banks are more generous, they give rebates plus points (except petrol) on every dollar you have spent.

petrol also accept like normal credit card??

Yes, it is still not broadly accepted nationwide and worldwide. Hope more merchants would accept it soon. Give it some time.
