I tried to use SCB online banking to make payment for IWK, MBSA and MBSJ, in order to enjoy 5% rebate on Friday. However, all the transactions couldn't go through. I called SCB CS, the CS staff informed that SCB online banking only works before 8pm, Malaysian local time. So inefficient!

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jul 4 2009, 07:25 AM) http://www.alliancebank.com.my/ccard_youni...bates_card.html I am holding Younique card. Let me share my experience. Alliance Bank You:nique Has anyone got any experience with this card? It attracts me because: 1. It gives rebate continuously all year around without time limit (instead of for certain promotional period only for other cards) of up to 2% 2. Free annual fee if used 12 times. 3. Same for supplementary cards and can have different preset limit for each individual supplementary cards (good to give to children or free spending spouse) 4. No overseas transaction charges. So I applied for one and last night, when I called their center to make some inquiries, they do not take calls after 8pm except for lost card report. I thought all cards' phone service is 24/7. So now I am having doubt about their customer service. Anybody having any 1st hand experience with them and care to share? The CS only operates during office hours, Monday to Friday. This is considered a major disadvantage. Cash rebate is based on tier system, subject to a max cash back of RM68.25 or 1.365% per month. It is not 2% as what people normally think. On the good side, cash rebate applies to all types of purchases, including transactions at petrol stations. On top of that, you will also get 1x point on your purchases (excluding petrol). I can swipe the card anytime, anywhere, don't need to remember when, what and where to buy all days long! So far I am happy using the card, until I obtain SCB Just1 cc recently. However, I'll change my Younique to Alliance Plat, as Alliance Plat give 2x points for overseas transactions compared to Younique x1 point. Cash rebate for its Plat is slightly higher only. |

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jul 4 2009, 09:41 AM) I called and this is what they told me: 0.5% - max RM2.500 - 500 0.5% 501 - 1350 0.7% 1351 - 2550 0.9% 2551 - 5000 2% Hasn't used my card yet but so far, the only thing I don't like is this no working after 8pm and weekend/holidays. 0.7% - max 5.95 0.9% - max 10.80 2% - max 49.00 The total max cash rebate is RM68.25. 68.25/5000 = 1.365% |

QUOTE(tgeoklin @ Jul 4 2009, 10:54 AM) Mind posting up a pic of the HLB Visa Essential? Far as we know, that particular range of card offers 1% rebate across the board with no capping. Withdrawn by HLB many years back. Would be good if it makes a come back though HLB relaunched it a few months ago, with very limited numbers of cards provided. All cards were taken up within a short period due to overwhelming response. HLB may issue the cc again in the near future, who knows. |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jul 4 2009, 01:27 PM) I personally think Hong Leong Bank's Gold/Platinum credit cards are very nice looking cards. Certainly much better looking than my super plain CIMB Gold/Platinum Mastercard QUOTE(leanman @ Jul 4 2009, 01:36 PM) Only for SCB Just1 TitaniumThis post has been edited by winner: Jul 4 2009, 02:08 PM |

QUOTE(zazaza2009 @ Jul 5 2009, 08:45 AM) I guess the game in life is like that, it falls into stages, achievements and hierarchy in the society. Thats why we have levels in organizations, types of examinations (1st class honors, 2nd upper, 2nd lower degrees and etc). For example a piece of degree is just a plain paper with some scriblings on it but what matters is the core value of the contents of that paper. Firstly, I feel happy for you on your recent upgrade. Plat cc is very common nowadays as banks tend to give a higher CL. In my opinion, Plat cc has nothing to do with social hierarchy or status achievement. A lot of qualified forummers here still hold SCB Titanium and Amex Gold while they are more than qualified to get Plat, due to better benefits. Some of us are only willing to get Plat if the benefits are similiar or better than what offered by Gold.I thinks same here for these plastic cards. It mirrors your status in the society. Some of us can get Platinums very easily and we critisice every bit of loopholes there maybe. BUT to some people they tried very hard to get their application approved otherwise. The 30k credit limit is just a standby monetary sum in case I need to use the $$$ urgently but I always know my boundary. When I go Genting casinoes, I always leave my credit card at home and just bring few grand of cash to have some fun. Itv is very inconvenient to carry 30k of cash compared to credit line. Besides, 30k CL is just considered below average of general CL of Plat, which starts from 20k depending on banks. Also, holding a Plat cc doesn't mean that the CL is higher than others. For instance, the CL of my SCB Titanium is above 100% higher than my other Plat cards. But I don't even need to have such a high CL as I only need to spend 15k per annum to get AF waived. In addition, nobody knows my CL except my loved ones. Higher CL could result in high risk. Another example, my friend's relative was robbed while having holidays in a third-world country. He was forced (with knife pointed his waist) to withdraw RM20k from his cc. This incident can happen in our country too. We have to be extra careful not only with cash, but also cc. |

QUOTE(alexwsk @ Jul 6 2009, 12:09 PM) SCB JustOne, 2% on normal day, 5% every Friday, rebates up to max of RM600/yr I have a method and it works! for petronas, esso & mobil, can us at the pump, for the rest need to go to the counter and swipe the only bad point is at most of the place, need to teach the cashier to press Enter or Select to select the Cr feature I put a small sticker with a note "choose CR" on the card. Transactions went through smoothly without saying anything to the cashiers. |

QUOTE(boonsin23 @ Jul 6 2009, 01:57 PM) Bro i think at current stage, SCB Just1 card Cash Rebates are only available @ Petronas, Esso and Mobil. In addition, they are working with other petro operators to offer more benefits. I received the broacher says that oh. SCB Just1 gives rebates to all retail transactions. For petrol purchase at Shell, you need swipe the cc at the counter and ask the cashier to select Cr function. I've tried this and the rebate is reflected in my online statement. |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jul 6 2009, 02:48 PM) Not Public Bank. And Public Bank still have the lowest NPL in the country now It's challenging for banks to reduce NPLs given weak economic climate. All commercial banks have felt the pressure since early this year or end of last year and predicted their NPL ratios will climb in the 2nd half. Due to tighter loan policies and better management (probably), PBB being the exception of facing a surge in NPLs. These factors have reflected in its share price, which is still holding steadily compared to peers. Maintaining high loan quality seems to be a big task but most analysts view PBB as the best positioned bank in M'sia. |

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 7 2009, 09:55 AM) @zazaza2009, I find no rationale of keeping the Plat cc that one has never used. Why should you take the risk if you don't even use it? If you wanna own the Plat cc just for collection purpose, you can cancel it and the card is still yours forever. Perhaps he just doesn't want to take the risk of losing the Plat? I don't see what's wrong. QUOTE(zazaza2009 @ Jul 7 2009, 10:15 AM) I am not and wasn't a fan of MJ. But I do respect him and recognise his talent. Don't cry...zazaza QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jul 7 2009, 10:16 AM) I am not surprised citibank has the largest receivables. Even if you paid them full within due date, they still list it as unpaid (and hence receivable). They do that so they can charge you late payment fee. Heard too many such cases, mine included. This could happen if you pay by cheque using the cheque deposit machine, even if it is a local cheque. I encountered this problem with CIMB a few times although the local cheques were deposited 1 week earlier than the due dates. So now, I seldom pay by cheque and if I wanna settle the cc balance via cheque, I'll make it soon after I receive the statement. This however, makes me lose the benefit of 20-day interest free period. |

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 7 2009, 12:26 PM) You can't do that if you deposit your cheque at the machine. It is stated clearly on the cheque deposit machine that do not bank in post dated cheques. If I issue a cheque, I always put current date and ensure that there is enough fund in my current acc. In addition, I seldom pay via cheque nowadays as I experienced at times that the bank at the same branch (could be the working attitude of staff) took more than 5 working days to clear a local cheque. QUOTE(zazaza2009 @ Jul 7 2009, 04:08 PM) The HLB CC points are not evergreen and can be expired. Recent promotion is also a BIG cheat whereby your points will be automatically deducted to exchange for cash back for purchases. During the HLB cash back promotion held from end 08 to early 09, HLB deducted points to offset the cash rebates given. I also felt it's unfair and I highlighted my concern to HLB. The following 5% cash back promotion held from Feb to May this year was conducted without deducting reward points. However, the current promotion giving kids free meals seems unattractive to me. Furthermore, do bear in mind that its reward points expire every 3 years.Suppose to be free cash back, and users need to SMS to participate some more. Damm, I *%#@ the HLB on the phone and said that this promotion is a fake promotion because it forces a point deduction to exchange for cash. He say nothing he can do and I asked for the manager, he say not avaialble, guess he went to hang himself. However point is not very important to me, but the way the promotion cheated me and others is not appropriate. The terms and condition of the contest promotion is at least 4 pages with the smallest fonts printed. QUOTE(bingozero @ Jul 7 2009, 04:29 PM) Hello, She can't force you to sign 3 application forms for 3 different cards. She seemed to have bluffed you for greater commission. It is unethical.Today I go to CIMB to apply a master card since I already have one Maybank Petronas gold visa. The staff told to to sign 3 form and she will fill in the blanks, and I say I would like to apply ONE master card only, and she said it is depend to the bank whether approve 2 or 1 credit card for you. What should I do if really approve 2 credit card for me, can I cancel it on the spot? QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jul 7 2009, 04:46 PM) Outrageous. The Public Bank branch i usually go to always clear my cheque issued other bank between 2 to 3 days top. You should file a complain QUOTE(zazaza2009 @ Jul 7 2009, 08:07 PM) Don't you think your statement is confusing and contrary? Nevertheless, do discuss only on cc topic and keep away your philosophy here. QUOTE(vampbreak @ Jul 7 2009, 10:07 PM) Cannot be la. Coz my credit history was superb duperb Perhaps your Black card makes you too high profile to own other cards. I ring the bank tomorrow and ask. Will update you guys later. QUOTE(arsenal @ Jul 8 2009, 12:26 AM) SCB normally takes 2 weeks to process the application. |

OMG!
QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jul 8 2009, 01:18 AM) Hong Leong Bank's 1% Cash Back VISA Essential credit card is back ! Before this I was quite interested in this cc, as it gives 1% cash back without a max cash rebate limit per month. However, after enquiring with HLB CS just now, it is not as straightforward as what I thought. I have changed my mind now.Passed through a Hong Leong Bank branch just now. Saw this VISA Essential ad on the large tempered screen window. There is no information about the Hong Leong Bank 1% Cash Back VISA Essential credit card on their website. Please visit any of Hong Leong Bank 186 branches nationwide to obtain an application form for this card 1. Cash rebate is fixed at 1% and given to all retail transactions (excluding petrol), subject to a minimum purchase of RM100. 2. Cash rebate amount per transaction is rounded up. For example, if you spend RM100, the rebate is RM1. However, if you spend more than RM100 but below RM200, the rebate is still RM1. Let’s say your spending is RM199, you will still get a rebate of RM1, and not RM1.99. 3. AF – 1st year FOC. From 2nd year onwards, you ought to spend at least twice a month or RM8k per year, in order to get it waived. 4. No reward points are given All these stringent T&Cs, especially item 2, drive me away! |

Oh finally, now I feel PEACE!
tinker and vamp, I salute you! QUOTE(mustang @ Jul 8 2009, 01:09 PM) Looks like I will need to do some planning when using this card so that I can maximise the benefits as I just get it like few days ago No matter how well you plan it, the final rebate you get is still less than 1%. You should study the T&Cs carefully before you applied for it. But it's still not too late since you've just received it few days ago. |

QUOTE(tgeoklin @ Jul 9 2009, 06:59 AM) Its cabin size plus a laptop bag. Got it from the recent promotion where you need to spend RM25K and above within 3 months or something. Not much fun but per SCB, the value is ard USD650, so syiok sendiri saja Delsey is a very good brand. Enjoy it. QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Jul 9 2009, 11:53 AM) @creed, Hey...isn't HLB considered a local bank? U could always check if HLB can give u an increase in CL. Otherwise try to get from a local bank - perhaps they're less strict? QUOTE(tgeoklin @ Jul 9 2009, 12:26 PM) Don't forget you need to pay an upfront handling fee. |
