i wanna use cc for petrol, and also i'll be visiting UK on december. Which the best cc for overseas expenditure?

Will suggest using Citibank, last time i use this card to rent a car at UK, try some Malaysia bank credit card but doesn't work.

QUOTE(edtan5 @ Aug 13 2009, 03:08 PM)
hello there...

i have a question regarding internet reserving of car rental in europe. this rental company requires me to fill up all my credit card particulars in their Authorization Form this includes cc no, expiry date and also CVV no. behind. (note: this not some secure page entry that we commonly fill in during online transaction. It's like a exel, word or pdf forms that we need to fill up manually and send it to them via e-mail) I've been searching high and low with uncle google and i found out that these cc authorization forms are quite common. but i'm still paranoid of giving them so much of my cc info.
so anyone can enlighten me regarding this if this is normal to merchants to ask for these authorization forms?
*
If not sure whether why it is like that, you can ask the company by e-mailing them or call them. But I can sure that, even we go to their counter (last time i do like that in UK), they will request our driving license, and then have to fill in a form, like declare if anything happen (accident, scratch on the car, get summoned by local police), the car rental company have the rights to deduct the extra amount to repay these, yes the CVV and card expire date need to fill in, i use Hertz smile.gif

I think HSBC will be better. As HSBC is everywhere in Europe. Basically around every corner in UK. Believe they will be able to assist you better should anything goes wrong with your HSBC Malaysia issued credit card.

hmm.gif , what is the last date of that month for your transaction which made the total to RM625?
i mean you could hv swipe >RM625 (thus reaching the max cash back of RM50) at the 1st swipe but your eight swipe is in the 4th week.

yes, only retail transaction is counted. Public Bank always excluded petrol from retail transaction.

Do bear in mind that cash rebates from PBB also exclude utility bills payment via www.pbebank.com.

That is why, cash back system of PBB or other banks can't beat Alliance and SCB, who generously give cash rebates to ALL kinds of retail transactions.

On top of that their Cash Rebate is so tiny.

Another strong point is that, on top of the cash rebate, Alliance and SCB also give reward points!

Guys, can a bank actually charge us annual fee if we haven't received the physical credit card and to activate it ?

Here is the problem. My mom signed up for 2x Hong Leong credit card in early April. One Hong Leong Bank VISA Gold and one Hong Leong Bank Gold Mastercard. She only received the approval letter from Hong Leong Bank 2 months later. But then my mom wasn't interested in it anymore.

No one was home when the postman came. The postman did not give us any undelivered notice either. Instead we got an undelivered notice from Hong Leong Bank about 3 weeks after we got the initial letter from Hong Leong Bank that my mom's credit cards been approved.

Since my mom doesn't want the cards anymore. She decided to just ignore the notice. No one from Hong Leong Bank credit card centre call about the credit cards. So it's been more than 2 months now and just this afternoon we received a statement from Hong Leong Bank that they have charged my mom RM320. RM160 for each card.

So can they actually do that ? I mean we NEVER activated the card. We do not even have the cards. how are we supposed to activate it ? rclxub.gif

By the way, both cards are **Free For life. Need to swipe twice on each card in order to get the annual fee waiver.

MilesAndMore,

If I am not mistaken, a forummer also highlighted the same issue some few weeks ago. I suggest you to lodge a complaint to BNM. Otherwise, there will be more victims in this context.
