QUOTE(dog @ Jul 4 2009, 09:52 PM)
Was eyeing an AOC 2434Pw last weekend. At the shop, it looked kinda good but for some reason the other 22" AOC next to it looked better due to its glossy screen and appeared to have tighter pixels and more vibrant colours. Nevertheless I proceeded to purchase the 2434Pw due to good reviews on this thread.

Back home, I did some quality comparison test with my 6 year old LCD, the Philips 170B4 (25ms response time). Damn, the results are kinda disappointing. The 6 year old TN LCD beats the AOC hands down. I say this because the AOC can't seem to produce enough color scales.

Take a look at this pic1 IMG_9502.JPG. Observe that you can differenciate between the woman's shoulders and arms from the background on my Philips. On the AOC it's so dark you can't see shit.

In the last pic3 IMG_9507.JPG, compare again the shadows behind the picture frame the guy is holding. Clearly the details are lacking on the AOC. No matter how I adjusted its setting, it still could not produce good colour scale. Btw the Philips was on DVI and AOC on VGA (obviously coz it lacks DVI input).

Now the ultimate let down. I was hoping the in-built speakers would at least gimme some decent audio but no! It's worse than a RM5 pair of speakers! Worse than laptop speakers. If you peek the unit from the top, you can see these 2 cheap looking "tweeters" inside.

Ok, I'm done b****ing. Now who wants to buy my unit? smile.gif

You give your old Philips LCD a DVI connection and the new AOC 2434Pw the old VGA connection ?
No wonder your movies quality look like crap on the AOC 2434Pw.
The AOC is best used with HDMI or a DVI to HDMI converter with 1920 x 1080 resolutions.
Based on your connections and pictures, I can guess you are using a resolutions of 1280 x 1024 for both the LCDs
(with VGA port on the AOC) because I can see some stretches blur on the AOC 2434Pw.

To be fair, you should test the AOC 2434Pw with a HDMI cable (with DVI to HDMI converter) on 1920 x 1080 resolutions
and more better if you can test movies with 1920 x 1080 fullHD resolutions (mkv files or blu-ray). I can show how good
3gp movies look nice on my 2 inch handphone LCD screen and look like crap on the AOC 2434Pw in full screen mode. haha.

first of all,sry if i come to wrong section..

my story:

I bought a LCD model G900WD approximately half years ago...after used for a month, problem come out....no display..so i jus RMA n i get it bac for about 1-2 months and i jus use it for a week the SAME problem come again seriously no choice jus only go to RMA , nth different, jus repeated the first incident.

finally i get bac my lcd today...when i plug-in everything set, guess what?it dun even gv me a shyt of sign or wadsoever, like a dead man!i am so sad n disappointed.Wtf??i bought a lcd use for one month n RMA for 5 month??
Now,what i need what u all to help me is grant me a suggestion...

A: "fine!gtfo u a$$hol3 benq lcd" (put it into museum room and tell myself last product from BenQ)

B: sadly n tiredly find a day n go to RMA again (this time not at distributor but directly go to Benq HQ and do the same, tell myself last  product from BenQ)

thx...feels better...fuh..fuh..

If I were you, I'll choose B. RMA directly at Benq HQ. I believe their HQ or corporate office is in Jaya One PJ. Tell the customer service your story and ask for the RMA service receipt and the person name who handle your case. The last part is threaten or tell the person in charge politely that if the unit fail again in a few weeks after return, a complaint will be made directly to Benq Global HQ in Taiwan.

If this time the return unit really dead again, then choose one or both of the following options:-

C: Complaint directly to Benq Global HQ in Taiwan with the service receipt details plus the person in charge name.

D: Find a place, start your viewcam, burn the unit and post the video on Youtube.

sure can if you bring along your viewcam and tell the HQ customer service manager that you are going to do something to the RMA unit with video captured to be posted on Youtube. if you are lucky enough, u might get a latest 24" replacement unit at no extra cost involved. biggrin.gif

Yes, all were installed by Dell already. I can open Catalyst Controller, but can not find that option, tried whole night.
In the Catalyst Controller, the graphic card allow to set up to 1920x1080@ 60Hz resolution, but can not display full screen, having black gap between windows screen and LCD edge.
The thing that I use HDMI cable, not DVI or VGA. Just now I try to connect my laptop (Geforce 1GMB) using VGA cable, the AOC 2434PW can display full screen without any black edge.
So the problem is using HDMI cable or because of my graphic card having low spec 256MB ATI Radeon™ HD3450.

More infos:
-LCD AOC 2434Pw hav only 2 port: HDMI and VGA
-My graphic card 256MB ATI Radeon™ HD3450 hav also 2 ports: HDMI and DVI (not VGA port)
-My PC hav VGA port, but from the main board.

Pls advise me to solve this, I think I can not afford to upgrade my graphic card right now, tight budged.
Tq in advance.

Some ATI card have this problem when using HDMI with HDTV/HDCP enabled LCD monitors or LCD TV.
U have to enable and set the scaling options to overscan in the ATI catalyst control center man.

Damn it, this option is disabled in my Catalyst Control Centre. So what should I do now.

Disabled ?????

Do u or can u check the box below the slider as shown on the picture ?

Or u totally cannot access or cannot click anything on this section ?

Have u updated to the latest version of the ATI CCC and driver ?

Some pictures of ur ATI CCC might give a clearer picture for members here on how to assist in ur troubleshooting.

Yes, totally disable, can not access this option. I am downloading the latest ATI CCT for Vista now.
Btw I connect HDMI port of gc to my LCD monitor AOC 24" using HDMI cable, not HDTV. So is that the same or not.

Maybe u have to try update ur ATI CCC for ur Vista and see if the option is available or not.
Normally the scaling and overscan options can be set from the icon (normally called DTV[HDMI] or DTV[DVI] or Digital Panel Properties) between the Display Options (icon) and 3D (icon) in ur ATI CCC left hand panel.

Once u use HDMI cable, connect to HDTV LCD TV or HDCP enabled LCD monitors for PC should have same result.

Another update from Samsung:

Apparently the spare parts has not arrived from Singapore / Korea / Mars or whatsoever.

I'll have to wait till first week of November 2009. 5 weeks of waiting altogether. That's it, I am officially boycotting Samsung for good.

From 2-3 days, to 2-3 weeks and now 5 weeks, maybe should stretch it to 2-3 months altogether.

I also share some of the very bad experience with Samsung products like you and it is been 3 years ago that I swear to myself never purchase any of the Samsung brand products (any kind).

a) My first mobile phone is a Samsung (forget what model already) bought 6 years ago, paint come off the plastic after 5 months of usage and the phone looks ugly. Call them and they said not cover in warranty for normal wear and tear (this case paint tear off). No more Samsung phone from me.

b) Samsung washing machine bought by my mother also about 6 years ago and remember it was RM 699 then, after 26 months (just after the 2 years warranty out) the thing gone dead. Call the shop and they sent a technician to check and he said need to replace the control board panel which cost RM 380 and need to back order with Samsung. Ask him how long to wait and fix the thing, he said 1 month plus. No washing machine for 1 month plus will be a nightmare for my family, so we give the damned unit to the technician and dont want to see it again. Bought a toshiba unit later that week and guess what, working till today (6 years already) and never got any problem before.

c) My second monitor was Samsung 17 inch CRT Flat screen bought 5 years ago (replacement of my ultra old 14 inch), bought it because of its screen display quality (second only to Sony Trinitron) and cheap (compare to Sony and HP at that time). Used for 2 years only and the CRT fail on me, colors gone haywire (blue become red, red become yellow, colors become dull).

After all this, i have lose confident in all Samsung products and will never get any products of this brand anymore.

Just last month, my cousin Samsung LCD TV 40 inch was sent back to SenQ for warranty claim (he said need to wait 5 - 10 minutes for picture to come out after switch on the unit).

Not sure if Samsung product problems are isolated cases for me but it seem that myself constantly facing or hearing problems from this brand.
One thing for sure is that their warranty and service claim is really really ................................................... really sucksssssssssssss all time.
