i help my fren build a rig. using Thor's Hammer pair with E8400, i clocked it at 9x450=4050mhz 1.26vcore. when i use linx to test the system stability. cpu temperature went up to 87c (non-aircon room). i double checked the cooler , installed correctly. but when stress with linx , i touch the heat pipe of thor hammer, didnt feel hot at all,but when stop stressing ,after 30 second went back to 40c, is this consider normal?

QUOTE(piumiu @ Jun 23 2009, 04:17 PM) Yes. I do feel the heat when stressing the pc. I dont even have to open the casing as my fan is pushing the heat to the top haf 932 fan. Just put my hand on the top casing and I can feel it. I was using killerwhale with my old e8400 and the idle is 30c and load not more then 50c. I am also using 2 90cfm fan and idle is only for 38c and load 55c with prime running. non aircond. only using the thermal paste supplied. Best is to see the base is flat and try resetting it. Did you apply too much thermal paste? Also note that sockeet 775 base only cover 2 1/2 pipes for this cooler. thx for answering me! since the temperature so big different with you i think probably bought a non "flat" surface version thor's hammer and thor's hammer come with thermal paste?

QUOTE(shawnlut @ Jul 18 2009, 12:32 AM) I mean which method do you use ?? Thin line method on Thor or on processor... on processor, use ruler to spread tim on processor, same method that i apply tim on my processor with true black after i show him my ss, he wanna trade in his cooler, but i told him not to do that may be not the cooler problem. Or may be processor thermal sensor was broken? sry for posting a non xigmatek result, but i really wan to fix this problem, since this 2 cooler on same range but give 30c different?

QUOTE(OC4/3 @ Jul 18 2009, 04:02 PM) What is the stock speed temp with thor hammer??To me seem like your chip is unusally hot so it might actually be a good chip for sub zero oc but this is just specteculation stock speed temp also around 6x with thor's hammer. this is my fren's processor which vid 1.15, my one vid 1.25, i knew vid low usually hotter than vid high processor, but also not gv a 30c different?
