RS user reporting in.... imo, RS is one of the best product of xigmatek. DK, its nice but performance wise still loses to alot of cooler. using nikel on DK its a bad move but the fan and colour matching is drooling. and thor is a lil overated. expensive yet doesnt perform to its standard.

no offense to those DK and thor user smile.gif

Ya Bro, but with the price/performance you pay still DK is in acceptable. For the THOR, the so called version (ver1) come back with not very good review, but news coming in from supplier, XIGMATEK are coming out with version 2, a better designed THOR to maximize it's performance. We shall wait and see, coming soon! thumbup.gif

I will be replacing my Zotac Geforce 8800GT cooler with this.

I believe that this will be able to cool the card better than the Zalman Cu900 Fatality version.

For ATI HD4770, anybody tried yet? Due to this card is still new in market, I'll consult with XIGMATEK supplier weather can fit or not. But FYI this cooler can fit any new card in market from Nvidia 7000, 8000, 9000 series and GTX200 plus ATI HD3000 and HD4000 series as HD4890, HD4870 and HD4850 tested positive thumbup.gif

Battle AXE it's Accelero Twin Turbo true competitor. Both using H.D.T technology, so almost the same lor except the look and design. Maybe some review or comments from both user will help biggrin.gif

Early this morning, I managed to replace the GPU cooler for my old Zotac Geforce 8800GT.

The old Zalman Fatality GPU Cooler (Reserved)

1. The GPU cooler itself
user posted image

2. Before replacing the GPU cooler
user posted image

The entire ordeal took around 45 mins to an hour. This is because the instructions were quite small (with multiple languages). It was quite intuitive for me as I have done this every now and then.

1. Xigmatek Battle Axe with my Zotac Geforce 8800GT (overview shoot)
user posted image

2. Xigmatek Battle Axe with my Zotac Geforce 8800GT (side shoot)
user posted image

3. Xigmatek Battle Axe with my Zotac Geforce 8800GT in my old PC
user posted image
*As you can see, it takes around 2.5 slots or more.

The difference of the idle temperature between the Zalman cooler and Xigmatek cooler was around 6-8c (with both running at full speed).

Xigmatek cooler @ full speed is a lot quieter than Zalman cooler @ full speed.

Previously with Zalman cooler, it was around =56-60c

Now with Xigmatek cooler = 50-52c

Please not that this was tested in a room without air conditioning, will update results when the aircon is switch on later.

I would not be able to test the load temperature as my old PC has no games in it at all.

Pros:
1. Silent (even at fullspeed)
2. Fans can be replaced if needed be.
3. Quite easy to fit in
4. Wide compatibility
5. Good availability

Cons:
1. Takes up more than 2 slots
2. Instructions not as clear as the Zalman counterpart

I would recommend this to anyone who are quite annoyed with the heat and noise generated from their stock coolers.

It is heavier by around 300g to 500g I think as I didn't weigh after....too excited to insert into the casing.

Anyway, my dad's PC was as heavy as it could get.

This is a good product and also a very affordable one for those who owns a Geforce 8800GT or GTX2xx (untested).

I won't mind getting this for my next Geforce GTX285 (that is after I change the entire casing, the current one does not have enough clearing to support another Geforce GTX285 with Xigmatek BattleAxe.

The Zalman Fatality GPU cooler sold.

i help my fren build a rig. using Thor's Hammer pair with E8400, i clocked it at 9x450=4050mhz 1.26vcore. when i use linx to test the system stability. cpu temperature went up to 87c (non-aircon room). i double checked the cooler , installed correctly. but when stress with linx , i touch the heat pipe of thor hammer, didnt feel hot at all,but when stop stressing ,after 30 second went back to 40c, is this consider normal?

the default low temps of my 9150e and the achilles that i got from lingloong seem to keep my temps around 28-29 on idle smile.gif

one thing to note though, for anyone planning to get a Cooler Master casing with side window. the acrylic i just a little too thick to close the panel properly, and the fittings are a bit brittle, so need to be careful when taking it out tongue.gif however, if you're buying an nvidia version casing, the acrylic thickness is just nice tongue.gif

While running at 3.7ghz, my processor (intel Q9550) is idle at 43c and load at 70c. quite ok for a casing without a good airflow haha biggrin.gif

@nncl
Bro, i think theres something wrong cos last time my e8400 (at 4ghz) only reach 35c at idle and 63c during load while using cm hyper 212. Better check ur cooler back, u might not setted the cooler properly

@Gray Fox [X]
Usually i just attach the cooler and the fan first onto the motherboard. after that i just screw the mobo with the cooler attach on it inside the casing. to much work if i attach the cooler /fan later laugh.gif
Anyway, theres nothing wrong with the way u place ur cooler. the reason i place mine like that because my top fan can draw out the hot air better then my 8cm exhaust fan + i can cool down my graphic to biggrin.gif

Hi Bro. I got ask my supplier regarding this problem, he said the earliest manufactured THOR got problem at the base heatsink, we call this version as VER1. So basically all THOR in Msia market now is VER1 with plenty of defective design especially the heatsink surface not "flat". They will exchange their remaining stock with VER2 (Revised version) for this THOR, now waiting the next XIGMATEK shipment from oversea. I also got ask him weather can get free exchange for the THOR for my previous customer and he also have to depend on XIGMATEK weather they accept this condition or not.

And update I will let you guys know. But for your solution, I propose you try to lapped the surface after watching the youtube video provided biggrin.gif

Yes. I do feel the heat when stressing the pc.
I dont even have to open the casing as my fan is pushing the heat to the top haf 932 fan.
Just put my hand on the top casing and I can feel it.

I was using killerwhale with my old e8400 and the idle is 30c and load not more then 50c.
I am also using 2 90cfm fan and idle is only for 38c and load 55c with prime running. non aircond.
only using the thermal paste supplied.

Best is to see the base is flat and try resetting it. Did you apply too much thermal paste?
Also note that sockeet 775 base only cover 2 1/2 pipes for this cooler.

Hmm I'm using a HAF932, the back is to release the heat off so I was thinking to place it that way. Can try at the top but don't know whether top suck in air or blow out, must go check.

I was considering to use Xigmatek Dark Knight for my processor early this year.

Due to the fact that nobody carried that during that time, I bought a 2nd hand TRUE120 instead.

Now I am a bit tempted to get Cool IT self-contained watercooling system though.

No sweat Bro, Tuniq TX-2 is still the best thermal paste in current market, you have pick a great thermal paste thumbup.gif

The THOR should have included 2g thermal paste for once or twice application, you should consult with your seller icon_rolleyes.gif

the psu fan is underneath there. so just nice. wink.gif hot air should go up la. i know my casing unlike cm690. no roof exhaust(really wish to grab 1).

using push pin atm. seems not bending etc(using low profile small mobo blush.gif ). maybe will get crossbow but not that soon.

If ur need aiming to unleash maximum power of the xigmatek cooler (RS for my case) the stock fan is aint enough as the air flow isnt high enough. Get a CM 90CFM (planning to mod my RS for push-pull method when I'm free) and I'm sure u will satisfy with it.

Added on June 24, 2009, 9:21 am@Kabu

Ic. Thought u had invest for a SS kit. That would be better as can take off the cooler in few mins time. Push pin is a headache. laugh.gif Not like CM690? Indirectly "shoot tiok" other CM690 user liao.. Hahah! Anyways, what is ur temp reading?

My quaddy OC to 3.2Ghz, idle 40-45'c (depend on ambient temp / weather) full load never exceed 70'c. Run prime95 for 6hrs for get that reading.

Now running on stock mode, idle 39-40'c for core 1, core 2-4 are always under 40'c. Usually 36-38'c.

@Kabu
Its 90CFM bro.. Full blown will drive u crazy with the noise. Hahaha.. Anyways, as lingloong said I'm running on hybrid ver of Xigmatek. Check on my post in page 1 or page 2. Forgetten.. Currently running 5* 90CFM. So far so good. With proper tweak, could get good air flow and low noise.

Maybe due to the plating of the heatpipe.
Vanilla S1283 is quite good performer with faster fan.

Xigmatek is really pushing into themselves in the market.

Good to see more competition for Coolermaster and the rest.

More competition = better for consumers.

on processor, use ruler to spread tim on processor, same method that i apply tim on my processor with true black
after i show him my ss, he wanna trade in his cooler, but i told him not to do that may be not the cooler problem. Or may be processor thermal sensor was broken?

sry for posting a non xigmatek result, but i really wan to fix this problem, since this 2 cooler on same range but give 30c different? sad.gif

What is the stock speed temp with thor hammer??To me seem like your chip is unusally hot so it might actually be a good chip for sub zero oc but this is just specteculation smile.gif

I'm not sure IF Vendetta can use XIGGY crossbow kit. For the comparison, I would prefer Achilles for the price/performance ratio smile.gif

From here you can see that there are 2 different versions of Dark Knights. 1 is 1283 and another one is 1283v.

Are there really any difference or Xigmatek just confused up their own products?

Happy Xigmatek BattleAxe + 2x 12cm fans owner here.

user posted image

Fixed it on my XFX 9600gt XXX (750/1750/1000) and got a huge temperature drop.

user posted image

Pros:

Before is idle 60c, load (u imagine). Now idle 37-38c, load <50. Fan running full but still good for me.

Cons:

1. Only 2 heatpipes made contact since the G94 chip got no IHS. Wasted two of the heatpipes.
2. The ramsink thermal pad is very poor in quality. Can fall off easily. No choice but to use it.
3. 2 of the ramsinks as i highlighted need to be modded as the heatpipes got blocked and cant mount properly. They should include two low profile ramsink and save my time sanding it for so long.

user posted image

Added on August 17, 2009, 1:05 pmBtw, i used Arctic Cooling MX-2 by spreading a very thin layer. The pressure and contact is very good so no need for alot of paste or other technique.

Anyway, if im not mistaken, shouldn't use the white thermal paste provided as that will corrode the copper.

Bro lingloong, when wanna bring the bifrost in brows.gif .

Looking at the photo, guess it will utilize more heatpipes since they are positioned close to each other. thumbup.gif

But nickel plating will trap the heat and the fans seems to be lower performance sad.gif

Dark knight s1283v looks kinda attractive but I wonder whether it can fit into my aerocool aeroengine ii casing or not...

Currently using the stock cooler which sucks as the pushpin cause my mobo bent.

A question here guys, new to Xigmatek HSF here (long time since i research about HSF). Just wondering, which is better : S1283 DK or the S1284? And can both of them mount 2 fan for push pull configuration? How many fan clips that it comes with? Are they purchasable seperately?

Thanks.

Hi,

DK come with Crossbow only. S1284 originally using push pin. Fan clip(rubber) can be purchase separately for additional 2nd fan ~ XIGMATEK Rubber (AFK-R5251)
Personally, IF you want the "look" and performance, go for DK. Otherwise if only performance, S1284 is sufficient. Coz S1284 is cheaper than DK biggrin.gif

Thanks for the tips. But what is a Crossbow? Got no idea on all these terms here smile.gif I am thinking about getting the DK to do Push - Pull configuration but it doesn't seem to be able to do that. LOL..And i saw some reviews saying the S1283 are sometimes better than the S1284 when it comes to certain cpu brands due to surface contacts. Are they true?

crossbow is basically the mounting kit for th tower coolers that uses a backplate and screws for "better" contact.

most of the coolers (especially for intel) uses the push pins...the crossbow replaces it so u get "better" contact between hsf and cpu..

And one more advantages is that it prevent your motherboard from "bending" that usually caused by push pin coolers. It act as an support for all the coolers "legs" biggrin.gif
The different in term of performance between DK and normal S1283 is nominal. Other issue need to be taken in account like TIM application, casing airflow and ambient temperature.

In term of performance, both is decent cooler. But for me, RS look is more appealing compared to "pale" look for the Hyper 212 Plus with "vanilla" black fan. Depend on your usage due to Hyper 212 Plus can support LGA775/1156/1366. For RS, you need to purchase the Crossbow separately. As I'm still sticking on C2D (LGA775), I'm very satisfied with my RS now with Crossbow. Can cool down my E8400 even @ 3.6Ghz significantly biggrin.gif

Thanks. And by you saying that "the DK comes with a Crossbow ONLY", now, do you mean the other coolers from Xigmatek comes with more mounting kit? I just need one for my Socket 775 but of course, coming with a mounting kit for i7 would be better for future upgrades.

And i tried searching around in google for a push-pull configuration for the DK but cant find any. Anyone have any links to it?

(intel wise)

DK comes with crossbow only...

the others released before DK comes with the pushpins only for LGA775. u have to purchase the crossbow seperately.

the DK crossbow has mounts for i7 and 775....no i5 yet though.

Just install the dark knight over the stock heat sink and the temperature is somewhat weird. Before this, the temp is around 42c - 43c and with dk, the temp is at 41c static, which improve by only 1c!

After 50% load on stock heat sink, I check the temp immediately after load and it is at around 50c and drops slowly over time. On dk, after 50% load I check immediately and it remain at the static 41c! I thought might be the sensor went haywire since the temperature didnt rise and it shouldnt drop that fast. So to confirm this I run realtemp and then up the load to 50% again and it seems the temp fluctuate inconsistently; now 42c next second 45c then 43c then 47c and so on instead of 1c increment!

After load when back to idle the temp drop straight to 41c static again. Well, I'm using e8400 non oc and is on a cold day. That temp is is a bit high isnt it considering many people get like 30c-ish temp on idle.

Most of the time 2nd core always at 41c even on stock heatsink. It's only the 1st core changed mostly.

180mm is odd fan dimension. I think even other brands don't sell this size in current M'sia market. Only available in RV01 or RV02 if I'm not mistaken biggrin.gif

Plus if got any problem, can warranty it for RV01 fan nod.gif

sorry to interrupt...just want to check if anyone is using or has any review on xigmatek talisman notebook cooling pad? there's only one so-called review online from frostytech and that's more of a product write-up than a proper review.

new owner of dark knight (bought the item from lingloong lerr), the heatsink itself is about 160mm+ in overall length, my casing is 200mm width after minus the mobo's back plate, the heatsink's nipple already touch the side panel, luckily still can close the cover sweat.gif

Thinking seriously to change the casing, need some bucks to get one.

This DK and RS is about 160mm in length from the top end coils down to the hdt plate, I believed those with casing less than 200mm width would be in trouble closing the side panel.

Basically, RS & DK in term of performance will be quite same, using 3pcs Φ8mm high performance U type heat-pipes. DK is black nikel plated and come with LGA775/1366 crossbow, while RS is using push pin configuration. Different theme is the factor if user either go for RS or DK depend on their preference for cooler/casing theme

For Archilles, main different compare to RS/DK is that it contain more heatpipe for better cooling. Supported by 4pcs Φ8mm high performance U type heat-pipes, it should dispatch more heat and better cooling capability slightly better than RS/DK smile.gif

Price wise, as DK got the included crossbow while Archilles only have push pin, should be around same price if you want to compare this 2 coolers. Of course crossbow can be purchase separately for RS & Archilles. FYI, for next batch stock, there will be a crossbow to support LGA775/1156/1366 all together along with horizontal bracket for AMD user as well thumbup.gif

U guys have any thought on removing the dk? Since two of the screws are blocked by the fan so that means tha fan must be removed first but the mounting rubber doesn't seems easy to be removed. Any of u have tried removed it before? Ask this just in case.

The cons about this xiggies, removing the mounting rubber is bit difficult plus you need to stretch it out first. During installing do not completely push the rubber into the fin's notch, it will hard to take it out later on. Or in other way we can squeeze the rubber out from the fan by using the long nose plier. Either way, I am still sacred as the rubber seems to putus when we stretching it. However the pros are, the rubbers can be purchase separately and easily available from xigmatek sellers here in lyn . No need to worry as some other products using the pin, which in case broken... the owner have to look hi and lo to find the replacement.

I'm 2nd to the bold letters biggrin.gif The rubber for my RS also not completely push in to enable me to pull it out easily for cleaning. Just stick it "halfway" for all 4pcs, it should be fine anyway smile.gif

OMG! I've already insert it completely long before this! Guess I'll have to do it the hard way if I need it disassembled.

And TS seems like have change from xigmatek fan to roccat fan(not spinning fan but idolize).

i use tweezers to pull the rubber out...

its abit more tedious yes, but not much difference la...

sometimes i pull the rubber out of the fan first using needle nose pliers to squeeze it through but more tedious though.

Will be around end of November. I mean the new Crossbow will be compatible with all Intel socket, it's not included for RS as you need to purchase it separately smile.gif

mine is H1283 red scorpion. Unfortunately the push-pin legs are f*cked up. so i must lay my CPU horizontally rather than vertically.

is there any push-pins replacement parts that i can buy at lowyat? coz i dont wanna buy a new heatsink

IMO:
pros: good performance at affordable price smile.gif

cons: hard to attach the fan to the heatsink.... and hard to install the heatsink onto my Rampage Formula mobo

How to post pic anyway? coz i wanna share too happy.gif

Hi all, i'm thinking of installing Achilles for my q9550 cpu. Currently installed with Cooler Master Hyper TX2 cooler. Choosing achilles just because of the push pin and the 4 heat pipe design. Just wondering whether it will help much in cooling compared to Hyper TX2. Current idle temp around 40 celsius and 60 - 80 while load. Kinda hot though... ^^ Thank you.

Archilles will improve the cooling compare to TX-2 due to more heatpipe and bigger heatsink smile.gif But you have to make sure ur casing got good airflow to maximize the cooling effect and good tim like Tuniq TX-3 will help

Pssss: I'm doing promotion for Archilles, do free to PM for best price thumbup.gif

Hi...previous user of the xigmatek red scorpion S1283.

I tested it with Phenom processor last time....

Thermalpaste used was Coolermaster NanoFusion

Idling 39 - 40

Load 55 - 60

One thing about the cooler....It requires alot of thermal paste to work efficiently....unlike those flat surfaced coolers.

Some noob question here about dark knight series and so on.
For amd phenom II user, the cooler will be upside down after install it, is there any others bracket that support left right / front rear air intake exhaust ??
The air have to bend from down to up for normal casing for cooling, not very smooth... sad.gif

Should be in 2-3 degree temperature difference (rough estimation) compared to single fan application. But exact result will require some real time review smile.gif

Same question here, where to get the 650W PSU, and is it modular or not?

And also when does the Xigmatek Carbonado will be arriving here?

a 1000watt is more than enough to power up the extremely power hungry 8800GTX in SLI . so im sure itll be more than enough to power up ur more energy efficient HD5970 xfire

Depend ur taste, either Dark Knight (Black Nikel) or Balder (Shiny Surface) or Archilles smile.gif Thor not preferred

And since you are using AMD, don't forget to purchase the ACK-ATI775 kit to enable you to install the cooler "horizontally" (blowing backward) rclxms.gif

hi there...
i got a question to ask. I'm currently using Red scorpion and obviously the fan that came with it is the orange fan with 4 pin and plugs to the mobo. they say the fan with the 4 pin has this PWM kinda thing where it changes speed according to temperature n those stuffs.

so, what i would like to know is, lets say i purchase, the blue fan that was just announced here, does it come with the same pins and features.

Blue Fan which is F1256 I assume you refer to, come with 3pin. So will run full speed all the time. But won't be an issue since it is as silent as the normal PWM fan included as per mention

hmm....that would mean that i'll hav to set in bios or use those fan controller if i want to slow it down.

Are there any fans that has PWM (4 pins)? I'm looking for those 12cm ones. It would be good if u can provide the model numbers and maybe the website so i can hav a look at the pics.

Nope don't have for the time being. But what is the point of setting it to lower RPM when you can get silent operation during MAX RPM = MAX cooling? This is not previous Intel stock cooler which sound like "vacuum cleaner" when turn on laugh.gif

the prob is, the fan hole in front of my case for the harddisks are fitted with small holes and the airflow is not good, causing a lot of air turbelence. I can actually hear the difference in noise at 100% and 75%.

oh btw, the blue fan u mentioned just now comes with the adapter for the 4 pin molex also?

Depend ur taste, either Dark Knight (Black Nikel) or Balder (Shiny Surface) or Archilles  smile.gif Thor not preferred

And since you are using AMD, don't forget to purchase the ACK-ATI775 kit to enable you to install the cooler "horizontally" (blowing backward)  rclxms.gif

how bout xigmatek archiles? shud it has some kind of advantage over other coolers mention above coz it has 4 heatpises, n bout balder where the ability to install 2 fans? dark night sure go down to 2 of these coolers ryte?

should be possible....coz the other end of the rubber just pokes in the the screw holes. but the fan size should be almost the same as ur cooler.

the prob is, the fan hole in front of my case for the harddisks are fitted with small holes and the airflow is not good, causing a lot of air turbelence. I can actually hear the difference in noise at 100% and 75%.

oh btw, the blue fan u mentioned just now comes with the adapter for the 4 pin molex also?

hi all,
Nice forum here.

I bought two sinks today, "SilenX iXtrema IXC-120HA2" and "OCZ Vendetta".

According to frostytech.com, Vendetta is one notch above Thor's Hammer, and SilenX is one notch below HDT-SD964...

Wanna ask:
1. How much roughly the two Xigmatech i mention above: Thor's Hammer & HDT-SDT964?
2. Anyone tried using just the heatsinks without fan?

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum but from what i can see it's a good one.

I have some enquiries re the Xiggy Thor's Hammer.

I purchased my Thor's Hammer on 12/10/2010 from a dealer in Imbi. The base looked flat,i.e it did not let any light through between the aluminium shims, and the
base had been ground so the nickel plate was removed showing the machined copper finish. Can i take this to be Version 2? How do i positively identify it as one?

Also, i read here that though the TX-3 TM compound is supposedly the more advanced one from Tuniq, the earlier TX-2 works better for HDT cooler because it's higher viscosity
allows it to permeate the gutters between the aluminium shims and heatpipes well, making an effective heat conducting interface. TX-3's lower viscosity makes this
harder to achieve.

Correct?

Are any further mods required on The thor's Hammer if it is version two?

Thanks icon_rolleyes.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think both are the same, except for the fan used.

I myself originally used Red Scorpion, now the fan changed to Delta FFB1212EHE because I can't really see the led (HSF facing down because motherboard/casing limitation)

Why need recommendation? The performance is the same as others just different colour. Anyway, you can order whatever you want from Xigmatek distributor, with deposit, of course.

How did you power up the fan? Through motherboard or 4pin molex?

You can control the fan's speed with your motherboard's software.

Buzzing sound normally caused by "unclean" source. Try independent adapter for your CPU or get yourself a regulator smile.gif

Aluminium and copper won't rust BUT it'll form something not so nice especially the copper like err... "burnt".

You can use very high pressure blower to blow it off, borrow one from car garage shop (if you know them well enough to do so)
Or if you can afford compressed air, it's a nice way to clean electronic stuff.

If you really can't use those above, rinse with water and quickly use hair blower to dry it off (prepare it before-hand), and this is NOT recommended.
If it does form some stains (or "burnt") after sometimes on the aluminium/copper, you can use anti-rust cream to polish it if you really sensitive by the stains.
