Love the OS 3.0 smile.gif

Gonna buy myself a pair of stereo bluetooth headphones..any recommendations?

I bought a set from here. It works well paired with my iPod plus handphone together. I can now listen to my songs and it'll auto-switch when there's incoming call. Sound quality is pretty decent. Wired always sounds best but for outdoor use its not bad as you won't be missing any calls. Hope this helps...

Yes, the 3rd Gen has a faster ARM processor (800Mhz) which promises up to 50% increase in performance. In addition there's now support for OpenGL ES 2.0 for better 3D graphics, the same as iPhone 3GS. The Voice Control feature requires a headphone with in-line mic to give voice commands at the press of a button.

P.S. I'm quite disappointed with the lack of camera. So interested in augmented reality apps but looks like i'll have to wait. In the meantime, I'm keeping my 2Gen. All the talk about it being a gaming device is unacceptable. Look at the DSi and even PSP has a camera add-on..

8gb no OpenGL ES 2.0? So if i buy 8gb now, worth it? Well, you see, i'm still new to this iPod things, if i get the touch, it's my first iPod i every had.

I think 2G is OpenGL ES 1.0? Need to verify...
EDIT: Confirmed 2G has OpenGL ES 1.1.

I'm so confused...I thought the 3rd Gen Ipod touch is 16/32/64gb?  So now it's only 32 and 64gb?

IMO Apple is trying to separate the Touches into 2 markets:
1) 8GB 2G - For casual users who want to use the iPod Music/Video and App Store features plus occasional gaming. Ideal for budget conscious too.
2) 32/64Gb 3G - For handheld gaming enthusiast or heavy iPod users who want the latest state-of-art features and big capacities.

There is no iPod Touch 8Gb 3G. Only Touch 8Gb 2G for RM779.
Touch 3G comes in 32/64Gb flavours.

Yup. Apple reduced the price with the launch of OS 3.1. The current price should be USD4.99.

Where do you access youtube from? If Safari then cannot as iPhone OS does not support Flash atm. Try the YouTube native app that comes pre-installed in your iPod. Metacafe is not supported for the same reason.

GPS? iPods got no GPS... Exclusive to iPhone only unfortunately. Blame Apple Marketing strategy...

Yup, for the moment bluetooth is for a2dp streaming on the iPod. But there are plans for 3rd party accessories that will work through bluetooth. Imo the hardware supports file transfer but Apple does not want to release the software profile for it. Maybe if you jailbreak? Then you could probably do tethering as well? Not sure though as i've yet to jb my iPod...

All iPod Touch 2nd Gen will have Model No. A1288.
The latest 2009 models of 32GB and 64GB has Model No. A1318.
The "updated" 2009 8GB Model still retains Model No. A1288.

1 - You can start by looking at Low Yat or Digital Mall. Else try the Garage Sales here.

2 - Set the folder you want to sync pictures to in your iTunes.

3 - iTunes can convert it if the format is supported in QuickTime. Just add it into your library and right click on it for the option. Alternatively, you can use 3rd party apps like Videora. Google it.

4 - Tap and hold on the pic and a menu option would appear.

Hope this helps.

well i have a question. from what i've heard and tried, its possible to download an app on your itunes to your ipod, and then loggin to your itunes on your friend's ipod to share with him the same app.

anyone has done it before? it worked for me when i took a friend's app but then it just mysteriously fails to work after a day or two on my ipod. but the app that i passed to him still worked. something wrong with my ipod ka?
*
You can share iTunes account+apps on unlimited devices but it'll stop working once you sync on the PC. For it to continue working you need to authorise the PC you sync to. Each iTunes account can sync up to 5 PCs only. To authorise, login to your/friend's iTunes account on your Desktop then Click "Store" on menu and "Authorise Computer". Then sync as usual and it should work as normal.
