Hey all, 1G user reporting in here.

After updating to 3.0 I can't force quit any apps with the holding-down-the-home-button trick and it frequently runs out of memory because of this.

Does anyone know how to rectify this?

Also, my back plate is littered with hairline scratches, and I'm planning to go naked soon and do without the Speck SeeThru I'm using now.

Is it possible to change the back plate? If not, should I try the brushed aluminium trick?

Also, what skin should I get? I hear BSE and BodyGuardz are quite good... are they comparable to IS? If not, I'll settle for the safest option.

Looking forward to responses, asap. Thanks in advance.

To force quit an application in 3.0, press and hold the sleep/wake button until the slide to power off screen appears, then press and hold the home button until the application quits (about six seconds).

I recommend BodyGuardz

Great help mate, thanks a lot.

By the way, I've been scouring around and I think I found something that fancied me.

Do you think this setup is okay?

Bottom layer BodyGuardz, top layer iStyles skin. Do you think it'll work out or look bad?

I'm really into style by the way. Would appreciate suggestions, if there are any cases that fit the bill.

Once again thanks mate.

Oh. Posted this with my iPod. Reopened Safari and now it's much faster.

Hello guys,

Wanna ask you all something, did you all face such prob like after playing a game for sometimes, say 2 hours continuously, then it'll become very laggy and sometimes quit the game automatically?
*
It should be because your iPod's virtual memory that has been used up. I face it sometimes too.

Just restart the app or restart your iPod to flush the memory and then you're good to go again.

New firmware lah not new OS. iPods are only made for Mac OS.

Hmmm, I'm experiening a really weird thing with my Miranda (that's my iPod Touch's name teehee). There's nothing happening when i connect it o my computer! ohmy.gif  Tested my usb port, it works fine with my thumdrive. Tested the usb cable, Miranda worked perfectly with my usb charger, so must be no problem with Miranda's USB port or the usb cable itself. So wut went wrong? Hmmm, so mysterious! hmm.gif

What do you mean? iTunes doesn't open when you connect your iPod or iTunes doesn't detect your iPod?

If iTunes doesn't open, press Ctrl+Alt+Del and check whether AppleMobileDeviceService.exe and iTunesHelper.exe is running, if not that is the reason behind it.

If iTunes doesn't detect your iPod then it might be hardware problem.

Just a general troubleshoot, do post back with more details.

Hmmm, i'm currently using a Mac so i wont be able to do your ctrl-alt-del  thingy. What I meant is that when I connect the iPod to my Mac nothing happened at all. Like, nothing. It just stayed the same way it is, no charging, iTunes didn't detect etc. But I don't think that it is a hardware prob cuz when I connected it to my charger it charges right up... Hmmm, cud it be the jailbreak that's doing this? My ipod is currently running iPod 3.0 jailbroken. hmm.gif
*
I think so. Not entirely sure, my last jailbreak was when my iPod was on 1.1.4 laugh.gif

Since App Store came out I had no reason to jailbreak. nod.gif

Good luck finding your solution. If iTunes is open and still doesn't detect your iPod I have absolutely no idea of how to help you.

The 2nd generation iPod Touch has Bluetooth, and you do not need to buy an expansion for it.

hmm, has the official 3.0 OS released for itouch? if it is, where can I download it ? because I can't upgrade it through itunes..

You can download it from iTunes. You'll have to buy it though for $9.95. iPhone users get a free update, sadly.

What the...........  shocking.gif  thats rm35 for just an update!!

Yup. rclxub.gif sadly, Apple makes us pay for firmware updates we should be getting for free. Nobody knows exactly why they want to sell the firmwares when they already made us pay so much for the device itself.

Argh. My iPod Touch 1st gen's Home button broke. As in literally broke.

Anyone able to help? Workaround? Estimated cost of repair?

And should I get an iPhone 3G or an iPod Touch 3G (when it comes out)?

i still dont get why need to get iphone rather than ipod in multimedia portable device..
3g phone+ipod is much better than iphone in battery longlasting and usability.. n maybe lack in portability only..

I do rely on 3G phone + iPod, just so you know, but I was thinking of iPhone 3G + Maxis Unlimited + Tethering. nod.gif

Anyway, now iPhone 3G so cheap - thought of getting it so I would have both a new phone and a new iPod. laugh.gif
