Haha, the so called updated is firmware upgrade from 3.0.1 to 3.1 I guess. If you don't really those new features in the 32gb version like voice control stuff, then the old 8gb will do.

Yes, the 3rd Gen has a faster ARM processor (800Mhz) which promises up to 50% increase in performance. In addition there's now support for OpenGL ES 2.0 for better 3D graphics, the same as iPhone 3GS. The Voice Control feature requires a headphone with in-line mic to give voice commands at the press of a button.

P.S. I'm quite disappointed with the lack of camera. So interested in augmented reality apps but looks like i'll have to wait. In the meantime, I'm keeping my 2Gen. All the talk about it being a gaming device is unacceptable. Look at the DSi and even PSP has a camera add-on..

IMO Apple is trying to separate the Touches into 2 markets:
1) 8GB 2G - For casual users who want to use the iPod Music/Video and App Store features plus occasional gaming. Ideal for budget conscious too.
2) 32/64Gb 3G - For handheld gaming enthusiast or heavy iPod users who want the latest state-of-art features and big capacities.

apple do not lunch ipod line at that month, septmber is the month,
i dont think ipod touch will have camera, cz their want focus on nano for camera..

Ipod touch 3g 8gb sold out at machine klcc.
Now they selling 2g 8gb at rm750..

The 3g comes with 3.1 fw and the 2g with 2.21 fw. And
there is no cleaning cloth comes with 3g model like the 2g.

The moniker "3G" or "third generation" here can be misleading. The 8GB version is still sporting the OLD processor and lacking several new features of the 32GB and the 64GB version, particularly the "Voice Control". So everyone here is right and wrong, depending on what you claim as a "third generation 8GB iPod Touch". The hardware is still the same as the second generation 8GB iPod Touch, but the firmware has been updated to 3.1.1. Only the 32GB and the 64GB version has the new features and processor upgrade.

and yeah,camera doesnt really importaant when it comes to music player,but this is ipod touch,which have capabilities of running apps,especially 3rd part apps.
the inclusion of camera in its hardware list would give much more edges to apps developer.much better apps whether gaming or utilities could be design when having camera.

Hi...i see that you are trying to lift our spirits but I believe I have mentioned this in my post #587 above. The 'pending agency approval" has been gone for a few days already but look closely at the delivery time. It says "2-4 weeks" if I recall correctly.
