QUOTE(tcshyang @ Jun 19 2011, 07:15 AM) Anyway for me to 'return' it back to the older version? There is no way to downgrade a baseband version. You can downgrade to an older firmware if you have SHSH saved BUT, even doing that, the baseband will stay the same.

Via Redmondpie and iClarified This should help those who have their locked set but are hesitant to dial 112 (I'm not sure about Malaysia but in some countries, it;s illegal to dial 112 if you DON'T have any emergency) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Gevey has released an Ultra SIM which provides an unlock for the iPhone 4 without the need to manually dial 112.
This method of unlocking was detailed by Laforet in a recent blog post. Depending on your location, calling 112, even for a split second, could be illegal.
It appears that Gevey has managed to automate the process, making the unlock much easier for the end user. They have also reduced the amount of times 112 has to be dialed. "Once installed, no more 112. Restart the phone and get signal directly."
Features: ● iOS 4.0, 4.1, 4.2.1, 4.3, 4.3.1, 4.3.2,and 4.3.3 ● Baseband 1.59, 2.10, 3.10.1, 4.10, 4.10.1 ● NO NEED TO DIAL 112 ● Custom Sim Tray ● MicroSim Sticker Guild
The Gevey Ultra will be available soon at a price of $28.00. You can see it demonstrated in the video below. Please make sure its use is legal in your country before purchase.

QUOTE(FishnChipx @ Jun 22 2011, 07:45 AM) i am using Gevey too, seems like no signal losing problem. not sure it legal or not .. but i guess no ppl will know u are using gevey when you walk on the street The problem with the current version of Gevey is that you need to dial the EMERGENCY number 112. In some countries (don't know about Malaysia), it is illegal for you to dial 112/999/911 unless you have an actual emergency.

Yup, do a full clean restore (via iTunes) and if the phone is still in emergency mode, then send it back to Digi. They will fix it or they will need to give you a new set (refurbished or new).

You should be able to re-jailbreak but this is an unlocking thread and the jailbreak thread is closed for 1 week coz some a$$wipe idiot discussed PIRACY. The mod has also mentioned that he will close any thread that discuss jailbreak so let's not get this thread closed as well.
As a hint, just make sure you follow the right guide on how to jailbreak and you should be fine.

QUOTE(~Sharon~ @ Jul 8 2011, 03:38 PM) my uncle was using iphone3gs & iphone 4 (ios 4.3.3) with carrier AT&T in USA and he's back in Msia now, can he use redsnow to jailbreak both 3gs & 4 so he can use maxis/digi? please advise if he should just follow the normal way. TQ What is the current baseband for his iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 4, if it's higher than what ultrasn0w can support, then you have no choice but to use Gevey Sim. Since Apple Store has started selling factory unlocked iPhones, you may want to check with Apple US if they can unlock your uncle's iPhones as well. I read somewhere that Apple is planning to do just that soon.

QUOTE(~Sharon~ @ Jul 9 2011, 01:55 PM) he is back in Msia and will not going back to US, shall i request the unlock services from Machine Malaysia? and for what i know gevey is only support iphone 4 and nt 3gs right? is it better to use gevey rather than redsnow jb for iphone 4? sorry im new to DIY jb so i hv alot of noob questions just checked out the AT&T website for unlock, there is no way they offer unlock service even if out of contract... tat's wat my uncle told Added on July 9, 2011, 8:03 pmthanks for your advise , knowing that there is no way to upgrade if apple release any new ver for the 3gs after updated the bb 6.15.00, i m stil considering whether to do it or not, convincing my uncle Sharon, Apple Store should be able to unlock the AT&T set. I suspect however that this will only work if you're in the USA http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-store...-iphones-2011-6Then again, I suspect these are AT&T phones that have not been sold yet that Apple can unlock. I don't believe that existing AT&T customers can unlock the iPhone without AT&T approval. As for BB 06.15, I discourage you to do it as it has been reported that it will kill your GPS and there will be issues when you need to update etc. I'd say go with Gevey at the moment. A lot of people are using it and it seems to work fine.

QUOTE(uhuk-uhuk @ Aug 15 2011, 10:01 PM) There are pros and cons of using the Gevey sim card. The main advantage is that it unlocks Iphones with the 4.10.01 baseband, which Dev Team has failed to unlock thus far (DANG!). Just trying my luck here but has anyone unlocked an Iphone with the 4.10.01 baseband without using the Gevey sim? I've thought of the IMEI method but that would cost a bomb. Any thoughts on this? Nope. If anyone has been successful, it would have been all over the Internet.

QUOTE(rujhan @ Oct 12 2011, 02:08 AM) sorry for my question, i am currently using iphone 3gs ios5 baseband 05.16.05. what happen when i jailbreak the iphone? will it upgrade the baseband? can i still use the iphone after jailbreak? Jailbreaking and baseband is 2 different thing. What firmware are you on now? This will determine if you can jailbreak using a tethered or untethered jailbreak. Since you are already on a baseband that cannot be unlocked with ultrasn0w and are able to use the phone without issues, then I'm guessing you're using a factory unlock iPhone (which makes the choice of which process of jailbreaking you can use much easier).

If you have no cydia and you can use the phone like normal than most likely you have a factory unlock set

QUOTE(s3an_looi @ Nov 28 2011, 03:19 PM) Please advise guys.. Japan iPhone 3gs ioS 4.1 (jailbroken) baseband 6.15 Can I upgrade to ios 5.0.1 and unlock via ultrasn0w? I believe you can but you have to be super careful. I believe the dev team has integrated pwnagetool into redsn0w so you should be able to upgrade via custom firmware (this is the key, you need custom firmware) to upgrade to 5.0.1

QUOTE(teep @ Feb 20 2012, 04:39 AM) I updated iphone 3G(3.1.2) to 4.2.1 It's a locked phone from Japan. After updating, I tried to jailbreak it. Everything works fine until this step After I clicked NEXT, the program closed by itself. I can never get to install cydia no matter how times i've tried. And now the phone is on emergency mode. Anyone can help me on this? thanks. Follow this guide from iClarified. http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=12949&laid=I assume you updated without preserving the baseband (based on your statement). You may have a problem unlocking the phone ...

QUOTE(teep @ Feb 20 2012, 07:39 AM) How to preserve the baseband? Added on February 20, 2012, 12:48 pmI just follow the steps... select the firmware, install cydia, get into DFU mode, etc. But it din ask me to upgrade the baseband. when the redsnow began uploading the new RAM Disk and Kernel, it will close by itself. I think it's already too late if you have already updated to 4.2.1 using stock firmware previously (or if you update via iTunes). As for redsn0w crashing .... you need to download the latest version of redsn0w for the 3G, if I'm not mistaken, it's redsn0w 0.9.6b5 (this version number is important as the latest latest for others is 0.9.10b5c)

You cannot use 0.9.10b3 for the 3G. You need to use 0.9.6b5

I'm not sure if you can downgrade the baseband for the 3G. As for firmware, you an always downgrade as the 3G downgrading process is simpler and you do not require the SHSH. If you have a certain type of 3G iPhone, the baseband can be downgraded using Fuzzyband. I'll get some info to let you know.

QUOTE(teep @ Feb 20 2012, 09:21 AM) Thank you so much for your help. These are the things you need 1. Your 3G MUST BE on bootloader 5.08 to be able to downgrade the baseband. If it's not on 5.08 bootloader, then your only choice is to use an iPad baseband 6.15.00 (more on this once you confirmed what kind of bootloader you have) 2. You must be able to jailbreak the 3G on 4.2.1 first and you need to do this properly. You must use the proper redsn0w version. Follow the guide from modmyi here http://modmyi.com/forums/how-jailbreak-gui...-6-windows.htmlUse redsn0w 0.9.6rc19 which should work on the 3G on 4.2.1 Once you have successfully jailbroken the iPhone ... let me know.

QUOTE(teep @ Feb 20 2012, 10:02 AM) Sorry, I'm a little confused. Should I do the jailbreaking 1st or check the bootloader 1st? In your case, you should make sure that the phone is successfully jailbroken first.
