i gotta agree with sniper69 on this one
i'm using z4 too. found it to be slightly better than the altec
music sounds good on z4. very clear sound.

if not mistaken the older model is silver with blue led, newer ones are full black with red led.

well, between altec vs4121 and edifier m3300, one with more clarity, the other with more bass, i guess you're gonna end up with logitech z4 (pardon me, i'm a bit of a logitech fanboy )
to me z4 is something in the middle, sounds nice even on my intergrated sound card. should definately sound much better if paired with a sound card.

in the end it's still up to you TS, you can't just base on our opinions here only and straight go to the store and get your speakers. take the opinions here as recommendations, and then you gotta test them yourself. or bring someone who can differentitate sound well along with you to the store to test the speakers. see which one suits you the best. what suits our ears doesn't definately suit yours

i got the z4 for a very very good price
can say cheaper than the current price of vs4121.
that was a once in a lifetime offer

if you're not really urgent into getting a new set of speakers, maybe you can wait a little longer, save a little more and then get the z4

i got it for rm200
that time a store was having it's grand opening. so happen to be there that day, saw and tested the speakers, and i liked it. the next day went to grab it
