huh... that's weird.. so many altec supporters here... i thought the clear winner should be logitech z4? hence the higher price tag... try posting in audiophiles section, i'm pretty sure u'd get more response supporting z4 instead of altec.. anyway, what i heard is, if u still want the altec lansing 4121, go for the old model... cos the old model sound quality much better than the new one.. dunno how to differentiate the new and old one though (it's the LED, different colour btwn the old n new, but i dunno which is which)...

thanks for the clarification dlwl by the way, i used to open up a thread regarding choosing a speaker within the 200-250 budget too... and altec vs4121 kena hentam kaw2... lots of people recommend edifier m3300, better clarity, but not as bassy as vs4121... but if u're willing to sacrifice clarity for bass, get urself the old 4121 if u can... and another thing is, speakers dont get outdated as quick as other hardwares... and prices wont drop easily, might even increase if got demand... so dont wait for few months for price to drop, cos that's unlikely to happen (i waited for a year and edifier s330 price still remains the same)..

plus, the z4 looks good too! the reviews for the z4 are mostly positive, but i dunno if u can find one within ur budget.. cos most shops are selling for rm300++... ur budget can only buy altec vs4121 or edifier m3300..
