This is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. Dont confuse forumers with your DSLR term
another common term is EVIL

EVIL=Electronic Viewfinder, Interchangeable Lenses. biggrin.gif

and that's just the STARTING price. not counting lens yet.

most people woul've just considered an SLR, say the Alpha A200 is around RM 1.6k with kit lens. the spare RM 1.4k could be used for flash, additional tele-zoom and prime.

does more wonders than a single camera like this.

Alot people do, but some people are just too afraid of the bulk of DSLRs - even me.
Hence the P1 is quite perfect.

Now i just need to wait for it to go down a wee bit more...
your post just supported my point - PRICE! it's not worth it at that price point.

could just settle for the LX3 instead.

of course if we go by what you posted and not counting the $$$, then of course it's already dead obvious of its advantages la.

but this is not the case, the PRICE AT THIS POINT OF TIME is just not worth it and one could have other options.

check out the bulk orders in TZ, they have the LX3 wide / tele adapters. smile.gif

biggrin.gif why keep defending this Oly E-P1 la? it's not like anyone's disagreeing with you la - it is indeed GOOD but it's just that at this price, no matter how good it is, it's just not worth the $$$ compared to what's available now.

btw i think got that adapter also makes stuff like LX3 more adaptable already.

What I think I meant to say is LX3 doesnt have viewfinder - ppl still buy it.
er, that's because it's a compact! people buy compacts don't care about viewfinder. biggrin.gif

anyway with lens on like 14-140, the fella looks rather big. defeats the purpose already.

i was thinking la. the weight of the lens + EP1 would be on the lens. furthermore more no EVF so you have to hold it in such a way you can view the screen and zoom. might be inconvenient, just a thought. smile.gif

1st bold : So DSLR is the only way if someone really into photography?  laugh.gif

2nd bold : Sorry to prove u wrong  tongue.gif
i think you misunderstood what the fella was saying. biggrin.gif

btw i use Powershot A1000 and my N81 for photography. hu hu........... very backwards.

QUOTE(yehlai @ Jun 19 2009, 01:13 PM)
you really sold the DSLR after saw this P1? Really enthusiast.
Shere some shoots here and poison more people laugh.gif
selling off DSLR to buy P1 doesn't make anyone more or less an "enthusiast". smile.gif

QUOTE(harrychoo @ Jun 19 2009, 02:49 PM)
and i think this camera is the perfect partner for ppl that like to blog  nod.gif

why people keep thinking small size stuff good for blogger la? smile.gif

seriously it's not a matter of blog or not, it's a matter of preference (eg, convenience of carrying around vs blog content requirement)

personally i think a good phone camera is still best la for people who like to write about things.

goldfries, if I am not mistaken, Panasonic used to have a full size DSLR (aps-c). I was not famous at all... they probably had one model I think.
