How does EF-S 55-250mm IS performs? Another other lens around RM1k mark that can produce sharp pictures within the mentioned focal length? I need one with stabilizer.
*
If you need telephoto with IS @ 1K mark, EF-S 55-250mm IS seems to be the only choice. If you want an all rounder, Sigma 18-200mm OS can be considered. They are all decent.

Looks soft on tele end. Most suggested 18-55 IS combo with 55-250mm for the IQ rather than a 18-200mm. Also it cost much more cheaper, only having the trouble changing lens.
*
Softness is being very subjective. If you're comparing to a 70-200mm f/4L IS with every other telephoto lens, you will find them all soft. But it's fine if to get what you like. biggrin.gif

p.s. Sigma 18-200 OS isn't very soft compared to 55-250 IS. tongue.gif

wowee...is that from canon's website or you can get it cheaper else where...
lol...so worried that something is faulty...i'm never gonna remove my battery grip ever again...lol...but the contact points (on the camera's end) is like dented inside...issit normal?
*
You can remove the grip anytime you want but the battery grip needs to be tight and contacts must not be contaminated with dirt or smudge. The dents are very normal.

guys i got one question,
sometimes when my subject is focused and locked on ready to click shutter,
but the camera just wont take photo, after pressing 2 -3 times also...
why ah ?
My shutter starting problem ? sad.gif
*
My 40D had lockups several times. Beep but no reaction when shutter is pressed. Usually occur due to bad contact to lens. Remount lens and fully restart the camera by removing the battery.

Hey guys. Do you all usually use center AF point only or use all 9 points? smile.gif

Asking this because I find that I'm getting less OOF shots when using the center AF point only and using the focus-recompose method.
*
Something is not really right if your other points are not producing sharp AF. I find all points on my 40D to be as precise as each other.

Maybe it's because I've sent to Canon for calibration. Heard somewhere that they only calibrate the center AF point. Not sure about that la  laugh.gif

I have also sent my daily lens and camera for calibration. When it came back, all points are sharper than before.

guys,

in RAW format, there is no specific size/pixel right? in jpg, we have about 800 x 600, etc .. if I shoot in RAW with a 10MP camera, is that possible to increase the pixel size to like 10000 x 10000 or maybe to banner size pictures without reducing the quality of photos?
*
No. You are confined to camera's resolution. You need Canon 1Ds Mark III for banner and billboard use.
