hey guys, those that have a BP-511A battery, how long does it usually last?
i got a feeling mine is fake. the words printed on the top looks crummy and it takes only 400 shots on a full charge.
doesnt seem right to me.

initially, i had the original battery that came in the box replaced with another new one from another set because mine was faulty. now im wondering why it doesnt take as many shots as it is supposed to

its about that shot range.. 400-450 depending also whether u use pop up flash often or NOt... whats ur MH reading on the label?

I have 2 BP-511A, one from my original 40D set and I bought another when I am in Philippines. I never really gauge how much shots it can last, but so far I have taken 1000+ shots and my battery shows 1/2 bar left on 2 batteries in my BG-E2N.

Rough estimate 500-700 shots from 1 BP-511A. I use only my speedlite and I do not use live view.

yeap its about there with that MH reading... mine also around that shot if i use pop up flash once a while.. that is the reason why i buy additional battery 1600mh which can last me slightly more.. around additional 100-150 more... i carry 2 spare battery with me every outing.. also if u often check back ur image will also consume power... if you set the lcd info display on all the time.. also will consume more power... so it really depends.. and that figure is within the acceptable range.. mayb other sifu's or pros out there can give a better evaluation...

me just newbie who play around with my camera just a couple of months but the shot i get is around there also consistently using ori battery 1390

Mine can do 600 shots easily, with pop-up flash occasionally.
In between delete some failed photos, etc.

i thought i can clock in atleast 600 shots per full charge

third party batts treating you guys good?
my old phottix for my 1000D died after 3 full cycles.
i have bad luck with batts

wow, on a days outing i usually shoot about 300 pictures
altho i do bring along a second battery.

i've got no problems with third party batteries so far, i've been using the delkin ones.at least it was your battery that died instead of your camera

I have nasty experience with 3rd party batts. That's why I revert to getting original BP-511A in Philippines.

I bought a number of compatible BP-511As in Singapore... from Camera Device, Phottix etc... tested 4 different brands. They show low batt in my 40D; and when I charge them in the original charger, it blinks very quick then goes steady showing that it is fully charge. I can't believe it gets fully charged in less than 1 minute, so I pop it back into my 40D and tried it. No use, it still shows low batt. Tried few times and finally I gave up and got the original instead.
