Last time when i washing toilet i overheard some one says open book exams tests you on theory application on the underlying assumption that you can forget keywords but u do need to have a good grasp of the topics key concepts

Actually, China man used to be damn smart. Even created lots of technology, like eartquake detectors and stuffs, and highly advanced astronomy.

Is just that modern Chinese are a defeated and colonised race, whether it's by other people, dictators or communists. So the culture has regressed.

Now we treat exams like ancient Confucian civil service examinations.... because in a way, they are. 

maths.. that's easy peasey.. basic requirement for engineering degree...
