i got my e72 a few days ago after i lost my e71.

i am disappointed. the e72 no matter which colour does not have the class of steel grey e71. also i don't find it any faster in fact the eye-jarring menu change looks slower to me. the biggest problem i am facing now is that Garmin is freezing/blacking out the screen. it was working ok with my e71.

i took it back yesterday for a reinstall but the same problems persist - the screen goes off after a minute (like going into standby) and then it takes a few seconds to light up again and meanwhile garmin freezes along with the left and right function keys. the only responsive key is the end button but that brings you back to the main screen.

i bought my e71, e52 and e72 from e_trade_pj - good dealer but i am not happy with my unit. Since none of you are reporting problems with garmin, i am suspecting mine is a rogue unit....

I got Garmin Mobile XT installed. Can load up, and use for like 5 mins. Then it hangs. Anyone encountering the same problem?  icon_question.gif

Yes it bloody hangs!!!

Guess you have just to wait for new firmware then.

for the problematic garmin users... is it installed in the microSD card?

the ori microSD card? class 4 one?

ever tried it on a class 6 version?

what version of garmin? 5.00.50?

maps ok? latest maps?
*
yes installed in the original micro sd

no yet

I can't seem to find that info but e_trade_pj might be able to chip in but it most possibly the latest 5.00.xx

Seems strange that certain users report absolutely no problems - i am sure they too install in the micro sd that came with the phone.

this is also highly possible also... since e52 suffers similar problems with garmin... and e52 is like hardware twins... (similar processor and software versions)
*
I also have the e52 but so far no problems with Garmin

arghh... was under the illusion the garmin was working...

it worked when not navigating... but today it crashed and burn/hung... several times... when navigating... once the voice kept prompting correctly but the map didnt refresh... and the power saver time-out kept kicking in...

using garmin 5.0.5/ in microsd 8gb class 6. using latest malfreemap...
*
exactly my problem except im using the original 4gig sd...

to the guys who are getting garmin to work without a hitch, it would be nice to know what you did differently.

but how come i still can use it to navigate [Using "Go to?"] safely till home without my screen turned black? only happen when i use the "View map"  thumbup.gif rclxub.gif

Same thing happens to mine. when viewing map, it will go into standby but when navigating, seems ok. it's not a corrupted installation of Garmin as the same thing cannot be happening to so many people. I think it's the garmin program that keeps the screen on when navigating but hands back the default to the phone settings when not navigating.

got mine 2 days ago.

as to garmin issues ... no problems at all  thumbup.gif  lock within 10seconds with Internal GPS only , navigated 30minutes in 3D mode with no problems  smile.gif

now looking for threaded sms applications. the Nokia Conversation lags quite abit when the thread gets to around 200msgs ...
*
hey that's unfair, many of us still have problems!
Only with a-gps can we dream of a gps lock below a minute.
with a-gps off, i can only get a fix 10-15 minutes later.

i'm wondering whether it is a batch of e72s or the software.

yes.  original case too tight. hard to take out the phone. afraid it'll drop (made me missed few incoming calls also) blush.gif
*
it is not too tight. you must know the technique. Press and squeeze the top and bottom ends of the case using your thumb and middle finger and the phone will gently slide out without you having to insert your fingers into the case so that you can pry the phone out...
