How "good" a phone is depends on your luck sometimes. My E71 hanged and crashed 5 times since I bought it last year. Finally Zitron changed the motherboard after I cussed them kao kao. Now it is quite stable and only issue is when I switch from my LG Arena to Nokia E71, the E71 keeps showing a message "installing ...."

The longer Nokia delays shipping E72 to Malaysia, the more people will opt for other phones if their specs are better. Tried the LG Chocolate? Or is it a reverse strategy? Let you wait and you want it more, then charge you a high price to satisfy your craving. Whatever it is there will always be another phone which will be better, like the X series and Nokia N900 which promise new experiences.

Bought my Nokia E72-1 (wonder why there's a -1?) yesterday. It costs RM1600 (minus 2G microSD card and Nokia pc suite CD). Camera specs and video function better than my previous E71. Used Switch function to copy all my contacts, notes, etc from old E71. Can't remember this switch function in the E71. Only problem is that I cannot delete the email accounts where I typed in the password wrongly. Still remained in the Menu. Anyone can help? Optical pad doesn't work as well. Still used the old function. Faster browsing speed not that evident. Overall I like the phone and sold on its slightly wider QWERTY keyboad.

For fans of E71, the E72 is a welcome upgrade. I just love my phone, but still getting used to it. It has a few irritating quirks though. Any brother know how to disable autofocus LED light during camera shots in E72? Have set flash to no flash but autofocus LED light keeps coming on when camera is focusing. How to shut if off? Very irritating.

Thanks for info, bros. Too kan cheonglah. Anyway, will go back to seller and tell him off as I have bought four phones from him already, LG Arena, Nokia E63, Nokia E71, Nokia 5800 Xpress (allfor family members, except the E71 which was for me). Guy gives me poor price, means I'm taking my business elsewhere, man.

BTW was told the box doesn't come with Nokia PC suite CD. Is that true? I couldn't find the CD in my box. Nokia E71 comes with the Nokia PC suite CD though. I have to upgrade my Nokia PC suite software in my notebook to sync with my E72. How about screen protector? Guy says there is none availbale for E72 yet. Got it free for my E71. Is that true? Don't tell me the seller is cheating me!

I went to the Nokia retail outlet at Pavillion
They told me its RM1690 for the Nokia E72 - with usual accesories. ( but i didnt really ask more on it )

Well do anyone know anywhr else in KL whr they are selling a cheaper one for the Original model ?
Also is The AP unit out in Lowyat yet ? just curious..

Thanks

Lowest price quoted earlier in this forum is RM1530. Is this ori set or AP set? Seems my retailer says price cannot be so low, no profitlah. Got mine for RM1600 and getting my miniSd card back from the shop when the guy played sleigh of hand and took it out of my new phone and transferred my old miniSD card from my E71 into it. As for light leakage, I don't seem to be affected so much by it. If want a lower price maybe wait for a few more months when new models come out. Right now the price of E71 must be falling fast.

Hm. no problem with my E72. Works perfect infact I am impressed with the functions. However still not my cup of tea. QWERTY keyboard is weird for me. Looks like Im' headed back to iPhone.

My E72 works fine so far. Garmin was installed by my hp shop. Initially a worm virus was introduced into the phone and I managed to remove the threat. So far, everything works ok. fingers crossed.

back to this question, is it possible to disable the light? and yes, very irritating... laugh.gif  rolleyes.gif
*
According to some tech sites, the light is let people know you are video recording (red light comes on) or taking their picture (the white sensor light comes on during closeups or focusing). Prevents perverts from taking "secret" videos and photos. rolleyes.gif Read http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62855.

There is a method to disable it by doing something to the motherboard, if you search the net - not advisable unless you want to thrash your phone. Simplest low tech way I find is to tape a small piece of thick, black and soft acylic leather material over the light. It won't be so unsightly if you use a black leather carrying case and the patch won't be seen. Some sites have suggested turning on the silent profile but it does not work on the E72. Anyone found a better method?

Happened to my E71 last year when the darn phone keeps hanging 5 times and twice have to take out the battery to restart. Finally they changed the motherboard and it's ok now. But have upgraded to a E72. Guess I have not learnt my lesson and stick to a Nokia blush.gif

It's so bright that in daylight you can't take "illegal" pictures without being discovered by the person and you end up losing an eye or limb! biggrin.gif

Actually the light might be AF-assist light which also serves as an anti-pervert light. There are many phones now where you can't turn off the flash even if you can silence the fake shutter clip.
*
My LG Arena does not have this problem. Could take spy pics without being detected (autofocus light and video lights can be shut off) - except that under low light the LG cannot take videos very well whereas the E72 can take pretty good videos under the same conditions. Both 5 MP cameras also. Tested both cameras in a spa rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif Thinking of getting a SE Satio with its awesome 12 MP camera!

i just got e72 yesterday and when i got home i notice got dead pixel! didnt notice in the shop because of the dull home screen colour...

Shop refuse to swap 1-to-1 and now have to sent to Maxis centre later this week.

So pissed  vmad.gif

You have to be careful with these hp sellers. When I bought my E72, the guy switched my old E71 4G micro SD card into the E72 and kept the new micro SD card. The new Nokia suite software is in the micro SD card. So I kick up a fuss and the guy gave it back to me.

It would appear that it is better to buy from authorised Nokia centres so that you can get quick fixes. Retailers will always not help you very much after you bought the phone.

The Garmin installed in my E72-1 by my retailer works fine so far, even when I updated the firm ware at Nokia centre. My phone works fine now compared to my E71. I feel that Nokia is not having enough QC on the batches of phones they shipped. mad.gif

there is a firmware update?

what ver. is your firmware? (press *#0000#)

mine is 021.024 (date 17 Oct 2009)
*
Also 021.024 date 17 Oct 2009
Garmin version: 5.00.40s60.9, Malsing map

As I have said it could be that Nokia has poor QC on hardware before shipping them. If you are unlucky to get a faulty one, you will have endless problems. Hardware issues are usually the main culprit.

One reason I don't get problems with my present E72-1 is that I don't install a lot of stuff, only the Garmin which was pre-installed by my retailer. Each time I make sure I exit all applications out of habit before I use Garmin. Helps to free the phone memory.

hello guy and gurl....for those who have bought the E72. Can you all state where your E72 are made in....China? or others.....  rolleyes.gif
*
Back of charger says "Made in China". Most electronic products, including digital cameras. notebooks seem to be made in China now. So, depends on your luck if the worker is not having an off-day when assembling your product biggrin.gif

Some are free and some you have to pay. The worldmate basic edition is free and I use it for weather forcast, currency conversion when touring.

I think ur pic is not focus properly. normally i put my finger on the track pad and wait for the autofocus. when the focus is fixed, the rentangular box will show green color and got a "beep" sound, then only snap...
*
Well, the green square did beep (but after some time) but as I have said it was early in the morning (8.30 am) and the light is not too good. Lots of speckling. In very bright sunlight pictures seem to be ok. Thanks for observation.

battery is awesome.. it takes 4-5 days before i need to recharge..
*
Mainly bec it has a 1500 mAh Li-Ion Battery. Compare this with SE Satio, LG Arena and most other Samsung smartphones which have 1000mAh Li-Ion Batteries. But if you use a lot of functions esp multimedia, the battery level drops fast. Why can't most manufacturers put at least a 1500 mAh battery in their phones?

Had some problems with my emails. Yahoo account seems to have my hotmail lockin name and the hotmail has my yahoo email account lockin. Each time I connect to the email account it seems to be ok but when I select send and receive option it kept asking for my passwords to the two accounts repeatedly. Went to Nokia centre in Sunway Pyramid to fix this on Wednesday. They reflashed the firmware..now I cannot sms but can receive only. I dare not set up the email accounts yet. On bootup, phone asks for message centre id and code. Is this normal? I thought it should be automatic. I keyed in 123 and it seems ok until I found I could not sms. Even calls get disconnected at mid conversation. Sigh. Have to bring back to Nokia again. Is it due to Digi network during these Xmas period? Nokia phones seems to suck big time. No new firmware yet. This is going to be my third trip to the centre!
