Day 0
Purchase DIY soundproof
Very good seller, On time, had the patience to wait for me even though I was at a different location.
explained what and how i need to do stuff.
Threw in a free gift which is always satisfactory.
The surprise of it all as he does not mention the brand when he sells it but the brand that he sells are top range soundproofs.
Items bought
Propad - 20 pcs
Suppression pad - 20pcs
Day 1
Look see
opened driver side door to get a glimpse of what i need to do.
cleaned and measured the area where i need to stick the items.
Due to the lack of space - calculation shows that only 8 pcs are able to accommodate the space. (4x propad + 4x suppression pad)
This leaves me with 4 pcs of each extra.
Opened up Booth to see if I can stick the remaining on the back fenders. hand went through some dark holes and found the space to paste it.
Had a feel of the place. Space can accommodate 2pcs. cleaned it and sticked 1 pcs of propad and suppression pad on each side.
Once done. Took car for a test drive.
Results,
drive - a bit quieter and improvement on tire noise.
speed hump - front absorbers are much louder now compared to the rear.
Overall - 5% reduction of rear tire noise. Removal of booth items to get to the area - difficulty = 3 out of 10. (10 being the hardest)
Day 2
Took off front fenders.
Space can accommodate 4 pieces. Since I only had 2 extra for each side. Only used the two.
Once done, a test drive was warranted.
Results
drive - slight improvement, tire noise were almost completely rubbed off.
Speed hump - absorber noise were significantly reduced.
overall - 5% reduction in front tire noise and 10% reduction of front and rear tire noise. Feeling of driving changes totally as the noise reduced. removal of fenders to get to the area - difficulty = 8 out of 10. Darn thing is heavy.
Day 3.
removed all 4 door panel. cleaned and made sure area is squeaky clean. Thumbs up to my car manufacturer for doing what they do as I was expecting a whole lot of dirt but a clean white clothed turned light gray instead of black.
pasted 4pcs of each on the inner door metal. properly applied gum on the insuflex and pasted them on the door panel.
Test drive for the final time needed high speed and Kesas highway was my victim.
Results
quieter cabin, less wind noise.
Mat rempit sound from vvvreeeennnngggg is now vreeengg...
less vibration and sound blocking kicked in. Speed of car improved mentally as 170km/h feels like 100km/h
overall - significant improvement 35% reduction in cabin noise (overall). difficulty of removing doors - 1 out of 10 as I've already had experience removing the door panel.
Engine noise for my car has always been a problem, Next DIY will be to take care of hood and trunk lids.
DIY comments.
Body feels tired like just worked out after each day. Lots of sweat but this time no backaches thanks to sitting down while doing the job instead of kneeling. (recommended by seller)
Would I recommend DIY? Hell yeah! You will get to know your car and see how it was built inside out but I have to warn you that it might cause a little heartache seeing those cheap funny looking sponge inside.
