Hello all the sifu-sifu here..
A newbie is buying an electric guitar soon.... icon_rolleyes.gif ,
however i faced some difficulty in choosing the right guitar for me...i need something that can fit my need until i decided to get another higher end guitar when i am good enough.

i read through some of the post her in lowyat.net and review on others website like ultimate guitar and harmony center. Then i narrow down my choice to Epiphone LP Special 2 and Ibanez Gax70 which fit my budget, and as for the amp i was thinking of getting an Vox vt15 or the Roland Cube 20x...

need advice on these gear here, cause after listen to both of the guitar i still unable to make my choice, to be honest i can't really tell much difference in the tone wise, maybe something wrong with my ears d...hahaha sweat.gif . that's the reason y i don dare to choose some other brand like sx that seems like some luck to stumble upon a guitar with nice tone...and can't ask friend for help, cause none of them play guitar cry.gif.

as for the style of music i play......i have none icon_rolleyes.gif ...sweat.gif.
i just start to self learn..tongue.gif
but for the band/musician i like is scorpion, ac/dc, GnR (especially slash), santana, eric clapton, nickelback, aerosmith, B'z, evanesence and so on...so might be working toward that direction.

basically, need sifu here to help me to choose lar... icon_question.gif

All the epiphone i found so far is MII, the cheapest price i was offered is from chambers music, - RM760.
then for the Ibanez GAX70- RM690, and roland cube 20x - RM830 both quote from Bentley(haven't negotiate price yet).
as for the vox vt15, the best price offer from ck is RM670.
my budget is roughly around RM1.5k, the cheaper with the better quality is better lar... tongue.gif

Well for beginner i don't recommend you to buy an electric guitar with floyd rose/tremolo because you'll have some trouble to tune/set them.Fixed bridge is recommended. Those SX and craftman guitar is a good value guitar with nice tone to be honest.Get a decent amp and also boss DS-1 or MT-2 and you're ready to rock.Once you got better and you can slowly change your gears.

but if u wanna go serious with it
mayb u should buy the intermediate guitar..
try the ibanez sa120ex..should be around rm900+..
squier telecaster is another choice..
cool design and the roland cube may suite u
as u dont really go into the exact effect like the original song

yep, same advice here. the gax70 and vt15. special II is one of the lower end epiphone, and when i comes to low end, ibanez > epiphone. plus, ibanez low end usually have better resell value should you want to upgrade.

the vt15 is a good choice for the songs you wanna play too.

I am using a SX LP copy. The quality is OK, but the action is too high.
The pickup are lousy, hehe, just changed to SD JB and Jazz Combo, sounds nice!
Many ppl recommend samick AV3, you may go to doremi to have a look. Cheers!
