That has nothing to do with MP.
What MP does is to allow greater picture size with less detail loss, also useful for cropping.
With the current standard 6"x4" photo size, you'll be surprised to hear that 5 MP is more than enough even with a high quality printer(with high pixels per inch count, proffesional grade printers go up to 300ppi and more).
The higher the quality of the printer, the higher MP you'll need to have a bigger picture because the pics are printed with smaller sized pixels. So the only logical excuse for higher MP is if you have a professional printing medium, and you actually have a need for bigger than standard pics.
